I am comfortable with that.
So how is the church going to fulfill the great Commission when the world's population is now over 7 billion and in areas inaccessible by the likes of you and I on foot? I think that God is big enough to use whatever means available to teach people with enough of the truth that they may be converted. Texts and tv preachers included. We may not like them,
KJV Philippians 1
16 The one preach Christ of contention, not sincerely, supposing to add affliction to my bonds:
17 But the other of love, knowing that I am set for the defence of the gospel.
18 What then? notwithstanding, every way, whether in pretence, or in truth, Christ is preached; and I therein do rejoice, yea, and will rejoice.
God can use imperfect means by which to advance the salvation of man. Even people like you and me. Even tracts, leaflets, articles, blogs, letters, any and all communication whether written or verbal.
Yet I agree that the very best way is through our own circle of influence... Family, friends, neighbours, business associates, club mates, all that are in the highways and biways of life... Thousands pass or way every day. Leave no-one behind. We

Yes we disagree on this

Anyone who comes knocking at another's door best be pre paired to stay and talk till the sun comes up.
Not just hand some crap out and spin some gibberish and just walk off.

St Francis is a great one for sitting down and talking about our Lord Jesus, it's great to read what he was doing talking to people and converting even the most opposed even Islamic leaders and totally against the Church. you can't beat St Frances he is one of the greatest Saints ever.

I have had all of them come to my place and then they end up getting there guru to come over, but their guru is always a Satanist who does not truly believe in God or Jesus Christ at all, but is just a religious working for his religion and not God.
And that's the problem with all religions, men who worship there own religion and turn away from God and do not truly respect Jesus Christ, because they are on a mans works trip. they are working for themselves and there church, they want the Kingdom but they don't want God in it.
Look at all the good works we done in your name Jesus and Jesus will say I never knew you, because the fact is they never knew Jesus at all and hey they reject that he is the King of Israel so what do you expect and look at all the Satanist grovelling to so called Jews now who are in fact Anti-Christ, I mean really what are they looking for.

Fact is Jesus Christ is all you need and once you start straying from that, then you are lost to all types of evils and Demons. it's true !
Don't let anyone fool you of other nonsense and madness like the Jews will save you, because they could not save Israel or Judah or from themselves, they are totally hopeless fools.

All the denomination churches are trying to rip you off and lead you astray, with mans works and Pope Francis is the worst of the lot.

Over time one learns to use various methods of witnessing. None is wrong or right. The purpose is to get the Gospel out there. The Holy Spirit can direct and use whatever method you use.

I used to get to know someone to a degree before witnessing. Then I went to what I call the 'shotgun' approach. I found it gets an 'honest' response out of the one you are talking to more than if you warmed up to them and knew them.

When I met someone, and we began talking about something totally unrelated to Jesus Christ or religion at all, I would come out of nowhere with a question to them. "What do you think about Jesus Christ?" By the look on their faces I could usually tell the answer before they gave it. They couldn't hide it and didn't have time to contrive a deceptive answer. Some were a little upset but not overtly angry.

Waiting until you know someone very well, and they know you, means they know to expect such a question and have developed the right words to say when the time comes to answer.

As I have said, the Gospel is the power of God unto salvation. (Rom. 1:16) Not me, or my presentation. We just get it out there.

just got a visit from two calvanist baptists at my door who tried to tell me about their most intimate relationship by handing me a track......

They wanted to know if I was saved and i told them that I had faith that the good work Jesus had started within me would be completed.......apparently that wasnt good enough.

One, asked me what church I attended.....catholic was not the right answer either

He asked me what Heaven was and i quoted Luke 17:21

Then, he asked if I believed in the Bible and whipped out his King James......when I reminded him that I had just quoted scripture - he seemed to become frustrated.

When I asked him what he thought Heaven was - he said perfection and I asked him what perfection is and he said ‘I don’t know’. Then, he told me that he was just trying to share the gospel - i invited him to proceed.

He declined because, according to him, I am arrogant and a mocker and a scoffer.......and told me that he was worried about me going to Hell in a quite angry tone.....when I asked him why he appeared so angry, he denied it.

It do have to admit that i still find it baffling when strangers come to my door and get angry when I do not go along with the program they have prepared for me...

So anyway, after fully recognizing that I wasn’t in some petty argument online.....I sent them on their way (and yes, they were ready to dust off their feet for sure).

So, is it effective to witness to strangers at their home with tracks?

I vote no
Jehovah Witnesses are doing it a lot and have good success, but they don't act angry if you deny receiving their track or disagree with whàt they're teaching. They recognize that everyone has a right to agree or disagree with them and no one should get angry for exercising their rights.

My experience with door to door witnessing (which is what JW's are known for all over the world) has been varied and because we are "fishing" for disciples, so it is vital that we know what we are talking about. (Matthew 4:19)

The "great commission" was from Jesus who said...
"Go, therefore, and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to follow all that I commanded you; and behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:19-20)
It was not a recommendation that you could just do it if you felt like it....it was a command...."GO!" (Ezekiel 3:17-21) It carries responsibilities.

No one from Christendom has ever come to my door with the "good news of the Kingdom" as Jesus said would be done, right up to the end of this present world system. (Matthew 24:14) JW's did, and I accepted a Bible study in my own Bible after a question and answer session that made me want to know more. I learned more in that relatively short conversation than I had learn in my years of attending church. I studied for two solid years before I made my dedication to Jehovah as a disciple of his Son. I loved the ministry.

But in my experience, people in the old days were more educated in the Bible than the people of today. Discussing doctrine was challenging and enjoyable, especially if it made you go and do more research.

Most people today have little to no Bible knowledge at all, especially young ones. So its like starting in kindergarten.....I personally love to converse with well educated Bible students.....its 'iron sharpening iron' to me. But I know that Jesus taught with great patience, considering each lamb as precious. He imparted his truth in simple terms and allowed the truth itself to reach their hearts without forcing them. The truth of John 6:65 cannot be ignored.

Found myself 'liking' one of my own posts lol. And 'liking' someone else's who 'liked' mine. Am I becoming narcissistic?

haha!
I found myself also missing some of those who used to be members here , and wrote on this thread.

I’ve somedays gone even further back than this thread , and seen my own posts , sometimes like you said …I liked what I wrote , at other times I cringe and think, “Did I really say that! “ LOL

This was an interesting thread for sure.

you have made me want to scroll back and reread some old threads ..,but it may make me cry that so many have- “ left the room”.

blessings …H

Hi Helen, his last name is Lussier. I have not heard from him either but, he has "liked" a few things on my FB account so he's still around. Of course I am hardly on FB but, it was maybe about a month or so ago I saw his like.

@Rita Good when discussions can stay respectful, right? (....and it must help the mods, too...)

Hi Farouk
Yes, he is doing okay. We discuss scripture but he prefers to pray and study on his own at the moment, which is fine as he is finding his feet. He tends to listen to sermons on line and we talk about them when 8 get home from work. He is reading quite a lot of scripture as he wants to read the whole Bible. He has picked up a few gems along the way that I had not noticed, so he is definitely way ahead of where I was as a young Christian when I came to faith. He weighs things up for himself. ,that was something I didn’t do for years, I just believed what I heard for a very long time. Thank you for asking…..right better get ready for work x
