Yes. The thread is turning out better than I could've imagined! Praise God!
I am thinking of these verses now... Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another

Absolutely. Forum life can be rough. We all come at one another with entirely different theologies, worldviews, life experiences, educational backgrounds, temperaments, upbringings, etc. on a daily basis, and it all comes crashing together like 25 train wrecks at once, Lol. What gets lost amid all the arguing and debating is what we actually value about each other. I even have old friends who I know are serving the dark side, but I was thinking just today about how even she (I'm thinking of one in particular) has qualities about her that I really like and I hope she can make Heaven when all is said and done. It's a shame that religious views divide us all, so that we can't talk as friends. But people who profess to love and worship the same God should especially be able to value one another for something, I would think. It's just that we spend so much time arguing about how much we disagree that the nice things we might say otherwise get lost in the shuffle and are never said.

Maybe this thread is a reminder about throwing in some compliments here and there, even with those we are in strong disagreement with. As I said in my first post, everyone has something about them that's worth speaking positively about, and the early church had plenty of disagreements, too. But the command for them was to be kindly affectioned towards one another nonetheless, so I think the same thing still applies for us today.

Church itself is like that huh. As I look around my own church, (okay, in my imagination because we aren't back together again yet), I see many different shapes and colors. Literally. People from different background, cultures,, traditions, worldviews, that in normal life we wouldn't usually have anything to do with except in retail or business. But in church, Christ brings together all manner of different people and they become friends.
I think it's like that here. I am sure that if this group of 50 or more regular contributors meet under the tree of life, and starting chatting with one another, I reckon we may readily recognize one another without any introductions. And the debates and discussions and sometimes even the more volatile disagreements will be forgotten and all of us humbly confess we knew nothing as we ought. I believe even now we are lifelong friends. Looking forward to meeting y'all in the flesh. We're gonna have fun!!

Yeah, I think after you survive long enough you start to sort of settle in, and get used to others and accept them for what they are, worts and all. And then you actually start to miss people when they are gone. I was thinking of other people I would add to my list of mentions, and it would include people like David L, who absolutely used to drive me nuts. And he knew he was doing it too, the turkey, LoL. But despite losing it on him several times, it's sort of like, "Ok, now where'd you go? We weren't done yet. No fair," LoL. Now watch... he'll show up tomorrow and start driving me total bananas again...

But you just get to know people, and then things don't seem so bad anymore. Maybe it's why forgiveness is so important to the Lord. He knows it takes us all awhile to get to know one another, get through the rough spots, and then get on to being good to one another (or at least better, LoL).

I've hesitated to start this thread because it might come off too hokey but I'd like to dedicate this thread in the spirit of Philippians 4:8 to pointing out good things about other CB members.

I hope people do this out of a genuine and honoring spirit.

I'd like to point out @amadeus for not only being wise but also having a patient spirit when addressing others.

He disagrees without being disagreeable and I think it is commendable.
I would like to point out YOU for starting this thread. It is not hokey and it is a brilliant idea. We have the opportunity to give each other compliments instead of poking each other in the eye....

Respectfully, Mary
