Him I don’t know, but one of my Korean support engineers was a Christian, and he told me something interesting. He said his church in Korea used English bibles instead of Korean ones because the Korean bibles were in an old dialect and hard to read. It must’ve been like “King James Korean”. Most of the congregation was bilingual (English being the world’s business language), and there are plenty of excellent English translations available.
@Lambano I think there is a more modern Song O . Lee translation in Korean, based on the King James, although when its not from the original some problems can arise.

I wish I could learn Korean or Chinese or Japanese...

Yeah, this was about 15-20 years ago; I would hope they’d have better translations by now.

I took 6 years of German in junior high and high school. Never used it. I would’ve been better off if they’d offered Chinese or Japanese, but but that wasn’t available back in the 70s.

@Lambano The Luther Bible in German has had a profound influence on the language. I find that reading John chapter 1 in another language, where the wording is simple and clear anyway, can help absorb a language being learned...

I know to trust God, and I am trying, but I am dealing with a spirit of fear. Can someone help me figure out how to overcome it?

I'm already getting focused on the normal parts - diet, exercise, caffeine, etc.
The bad news about faith is that it is like a "muscle" we have to develop - there is no magic wand here. The good news is that the Lord will take care of us.

Jesus, I trust in you!

And the wonders of the holy name of Jesus often repeated!

Wonders of the Holy Name!

The frequent pronunciation of the Holy name of Jesus!

The Peace of Christ is granted by the holy name of Jesus!

All the Merits of Jesus Christ are offered to the father and great graces received by the holy name of Jesus!

All Thanksgiving is made to God for all His many Benifits, gifts, & graces bestowed on us, we thank God for creating us, and Christ for redeeming us by the holy name of Jesus!

The holy name of Jesus is a great Protection against the firey darts of hell that assail us, especially those against the Christian virtue of purity!

The holy name of Jesus procures for us all graces, blessings, & virtues!

When you make a sacrifice to God or have something to suffer offer it with the holy name of Jesus, it will be acceptable to God and give grace and strength to your resolve in suffering patiently for love of Him who suffers for love of us!

My Jesus it is for love of Thee!

Phil 2:10
That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;

Colossians 3:17
And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.

The holy name of Jesus works the greatest miracles!

Acts 3:6
Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk.

Acts4:30
By stretching forth thine hand to heal; and that signs and wonders may be done by the name of thy holy child Jesus.

Blessed be the holy name of Jesus!

@lilygrace Psalm 46 is a great Psalm in terms of the believer not being afraid... :)

Although you use the scriptures to encourage people, yet I find that you are two faced in that you also encourage people to have tattoos and to vape and to pierce their bodies etc..

As James tells us in his book, it is not good to be blown around by the winds/spirits of convenience like you are and often suggest.

James 1:2-8: - 2 My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, 3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. 4 But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing. 5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. 6 But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. 7 For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; 8 he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.

He also tells us this: -

James 1:21-27: - 21 Therefore lay aside all filthiness and overflow of wickedness, and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.

22 But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. 23 For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; 24 for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was. 25 But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does.

26 If anyone among you thinks he is religious, and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this one's religion is useless. 27 Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world.

Your continual promotion of the unedifying things of this world causes me much grief in my spirit for the people who follow your voice.

Shalom

@Jay Ross We are free in Christ. The only tattoos I will not be getting is one of remembrance of the dead as God commands. I don't think Farouk is encouraging people to sin if that is what you are saying.

The topic in this thread was originally on "dealing with a spirit of fear," yet our "friend" encourages people, in threads, to do things that enable demon spirits to inhabit their lives, often un-be-knowingly to them, when they embrace some of the things that he promotes as being okay.

We all need to go through a cleansing period with respect to the demons that we have invited into our lives and many of these demons are skilled at hiding themselves in our lives such that we think that they are okay spirits to have around and yet they continue to cause strife within our lives that causes us to doubt our relationship with God and so turn away from God.

I smoked for many years and I stopped smoking immediately after I was baptised over 30 years ago now, and I have never had a desire to become a sucker on a device that consumes my money so quickly, that also has health implications for the future.

God's word encourages us to put away the things in our lives that cause division with God. Often, when we turn to him in our hours of need, we put away those practices that we indulge in, but when those times past, we revert back to the very things that caused us our times of great needs.

Yes we can become free in Christ, but it is equally as important to remain in that place not forgetting who we have become in Him.

Shalom

What is unedifying in discussing our thoughts on tattoos that contain Christian messages? Or pierced ears? Or vaping?
I even created a thread to discuss Marijuana and how society has begun to accept is since it is now legal. I know some who never touched the stuff who now say it's better than any pill the doctor prescribed.
What I see in your comment is that you, personally, believe that those things you mentioned are evil...immoral...and misrepresents what a Christian should allow in their life.
But not every Christian agrees with you...and the scriptures you used are not even applicable to these things because they aren't affecting their faith (rather they have more faith to witness with them).
The next scriptures regarding wickedness, filthiness, being doers of the Word, bridling the tongue and what pure religion is.....these scriptures also do not apply....

This one is appropriate:
“Hast thou faith? have it to thyself before God. Happy is he that condemneth not himself in that thing which he alloweth.”
— Romans 14:22 (KJV)

Or this one:“All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any.”
— 1 Corinthians 6:12 (KJV)

I agree that many "christians" will disagree with me, but I was pointing to the fact that there is also a demon/spiritual aspect associated with the things that he loves to promote that use these practices as a doorway into our very being that can cause us strife without realising the real cause for them inhabiting our lives.

We also should be careful of the well being of the people whom we encourage them to take up these practices as they can be a stumbling block for us all.

Our witness is more about what we put off rather than what we put on on or do with with respect to our physical bodies.

In Jeremiah 31, how does God write His "law" on the heart of the people? Does He use a tattoo artist to achieve this, or does He impress His Law upon our hearts so that we remember them?

We are both talking about a slippery road that many try to walk down without falling over. Sorry, but at some stage people will will fall down and cause injury to ourselves.

I have a military tattoo to remember the service I gave my country. It is not evil.

My grandfather had a tattoo on his forearm from being a prisoner of war during WW1. It was Germany's way of identifying POWs that had escaped from their internment camps.

Jews were also tattooed in Germany for the same reason during WW2.

However, I think that you are missing the point that I am making and trying to disprove what I have posted by the exception rule where you are quoting yourself as the exception.

Circumcision for males within the descendants of Abraham is also an exception rule where God told Abraham to circumcise himself and his household and his descendants to identify themselves as being a part of God's chosen people. My parents chose to have me circumcised as a baby, however my wife and I chose not to have our sons circumcised.

There are many things that we can do that give demons the right of entering us. Discretion and discernment are required by all people as to how they respond to the Lord in the things that the lord tells them to do.

God judges our heart's condition and not the things that we have done during our lifetime before we stand before Him. Christians are judged harshly when they have put stumbling blocks in front of other people whether deliberately or unintentionally.

Now how a spirit of fear enters a person can be for many reasons, but as the person turns to God for His help, then God will heal the person of that demon and cleanse them. Clothing ourselves with the word of God does not mean that we rush out and get tattooed, but it does mean that we write God's words within our hearts to be remembered by us always as we pass through this present life.

Shalom

I don't think everything is demons. Although I believe devils exist, equating too much to demons demonstrates a type of superstition.

You can be certain demons won't be there with a sandwich board advertising the fact. They hide themselves cleverly. Now why would they want to do that if folk are busting for their company?
