I personally believe Jesus had Peter deny him to illustrate to us just how much man needs the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. Before Peter and the disciples were given the Holy Spirit they had no ability to withstand Satan. Satan was able to manipulate man at will. The disciples did not receive the Holy Spirit until Pentecost, which was after Jesus ascended into Heaven.

The Apostles denied Jesus, a GRIEVOUS sin. Jesus taught them personally for years. They knew who He was. You are evading the point.
A Spiritual person is one who has the Holy Spirit and has allowed the Holy Spirit to control his or her lives.

How do you know someone has the Holy Spirit? How do you know you have the Holy Spirit? Can you prove it?
I have not willfully committed a sin in over thirty years. That only means that God has made a home in me and he has kept me safe from Satan/sin. Before God made a home in me I was not able to withstand Satan/sin.

So then, for "over thirty years" you haven't had an evil thought, or said anything you regret in person or on the internet?

A person who is in christ doesnt have to sin, you are no longer a slave to sin... It is very possible to go through life without sinning, before every action... u have a thought, u have a choice: Would god approve of this or not, if you live your life in that manner then your are good, the spirit always wants to please the father, but its OUR FLESH thats is trying to compete with it. You notice how after Jesus heals someone, he says go and sin no more, lest something worse happens to you. GO AND SIN NO MORE, he meant that. Dont sin. I hate when people say, "we're human, we're gonna sin...." Thats an excuse to go out and do something contrary to what jesus says... YOU DONT HAVE TO SIN. You have the choice. Now sinning doesnt necessarily mean your damned, but think about it, temptation is meant to destroy you, not to just get you off track, but to kill you. God says the wages of sin is death. So everytime you sin, something dies. Remember that... Just dont do it.

Have you sinned "willfully" since you became a Christian? T1 says that those who have sinned willfully are children of Satan.

Have you sinned "willfully" since you became a Christian? T1 says that those who have sinned willfully are children of Satan.
(1 John 5:17) “Every kind of wrongdoing is sin, but not all sin is deadly.”

(Hebrews 10:26) “If, after we have been given knowledge of the truth, we should deliberately commit any sins, then there is no longer any sacrifice for them.”

The two verses above explain the difference in a deadly sin and one that is not deadly.

A baby Christian will sin and it is not deadly, but a Spiritual Christian deliberately commits a sin that is deadly.

A baby Christian does not yet have the indwelling of God, so that person is defenseless against Satan/sin.

A Spiritual Christian has the indwelling of God, and God then protects that person from Satan/sin. If a Spiritual Christian sins even thought he or she has the indwelling of God then there is no longer any sacrifice for them.

(1 Corinthians 3:16-17) “Didn’t you realize that you were God’s temple and that the Spirit of God was living among you? If anybody should destroy the temple of God, God will destroy him, because the temple of God is sacred, and you are that temple.”

(1 Corinthians 3:1-3) “Brothers, I myself was unable to speak to you as people of the Spirit; I treated you as sensual men, still infants in Christ. What I fed you with was milk, not solid food, for you were not ready for it; and indeed, you are still not ready for it since you are still unspiritual. Isn’t that obvious from all the jealousy and wrangling that there is among you, from the way that you go on behaving like ordinary people?”

Do you pray this prayer T1?

Matthew 6:11-15 (ESV)

[sup]11 [/sup]Give us this day our daily bread, [sup]12 [/sup]and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. [sup]13 [/sup]And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. [sup]14 [/sup]For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you, [sup]15 [/sup]but if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

Anyone else here living a sinless life, or are we all of Satan except one?

[sup]15[/sup] I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do. [sup]16[/sup] And if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good. [sup]17[/sup] As it is, it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is sin living in me. [sup]18[/sup] For I know that good itself does not dwell in me, that is, in my sinful nature.[sup][a][/sup] For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. [sup]19[/sup] For I do not do the good I want to do, but the evil I do not want to do—this I keep on doing. [sup]20[/sup] Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it. [sup]21[/sup] So I find this law at work: Although I want to do good, evil is right there with me. [sup]22[/sup] For in my inner being I delight in God’s law; [sup]23[/sup] but I see another law at work in me, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within me. [sup]24[/sup] What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body that is subject to death? [sup]25[/sup] Thanks be to God, who delivers me through Jesus Christ our Lord!

If u sin willfully, your not of satan, that just means you fell to temptation, god doesnt hate you... if that was the case then he wouldnt have sent his only son... Jesus. He is our covering. When you sin, immediatley ask for forgivenss, then repent. Its easy to speak it, but harder to walk it. Ask for forgivenss and repent. Repentance is a change of thought to correct a wrong and gain forgiveness from a person who is wronged.
In this case, God.

I guess we agree then. The Bible includes accounts where God's people sinned. I don't know any that say God forsook those who repented. It is utterly ridiculous to for anyone to say he doesn't sin and in fact probably a sin to say such a thing. Especially when the person has admitted that he is not a student of God's written Word.

2 Timothy 2:15 (ESV)
[sup]15 [/sup]Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth.

How can someone 'rightly handle the Word of Truth' and not be a student of God's Written Word?

Yes you quoted much of Romans seven, but not Romans eight. Go study Romans eight, and ask Jesus to give you an understanding.

I can see from your post that you haven’t read much of this thread. If you have there was no understanding on your part.

Do you have any understanding of what it means to be a home for God? Christians are temples of God, do you have any idea what that means?

I understand what the topic was saying, there was no need to read the other posts... I'm not here to argue, just to speak the truth and thats it... either u disagree or you stand by the word and faith in christ.... There is always remission of sins, when you fall you get up. We live under grace and mercy. That was the point of Christ dying on the cross, or dont you remember. What did jesus say you should do if your brother "christian brother" sins against you???? Matthew 18:15 [sup]15[/sup] “[sup](A)[/sup]If your brother sins[sup][a][/sup], go and [sup][b][/sup]show him his fault [sup][c][/sup]in private; if he listens to you, you have won your brother. I believe our lord also says forgive them 70 * 7 you do the math (matthew 18:21-22) Its too easy its right there in the book.

Now if one operates in the spirit, then he should not sin, point blank... Now maybe you should go back and read my previous 2 posts as I addressed that earlier, WE do not have to sin... its all a matter of self control... thats why we fast, to deny ourselves earthly pleasures... You want to become a master of your flesh... Your spirit should be the leader of the body, not the body the leader of you.

Walk by the Spirit and you will not fulfill the deeds of the flesh

I don't think it's a matter of self control or trying real hard. Doing that is righteous, and being sorry for making mistakes is righteous, but I think we are called higher, to holiness. When we are filled with the Lord we simply won't sin, not cause we are trying hard but because he is the one living in us. There is a striving on our part, but our own striving cannot free us from sin.

That fact of this matter is that we are saved by grace through faith, not by our works. If we could live sinless lives then we could have lived by THE LAW of Moses. Nobody could, except Jesus/God our Savior. Nobody else! Moses, David, Solomon sinned against God and man. They wrote much of the OT. They were inspired by God's Holy Spirit to give us much of His Word. All of the Apostles sinned after salvation. They were VERY spiritual. They gave us His Word. Are they of Satan T1?

King David wrote:

2 Samuel 23:2 (ESV)
[sup]2 [/sup]“The Spirit of the Lord speaks by me; his word is on my tongue.

David committed murder and adultery.

Jesus never made anyone in the Old Testament his home. Those people were not in the Kingdom of Heaven.

Are you serious? Where are they then? Their writings were every bit the Word of God as are those of the NT. They were/are God's people also as much as any Christian is now.

Exodus 31:1-3 (ESV)
[sup]1 [/sup]The Lord said to Moses, [sup]2 [/sup]“See, I have called by name Bezalel the son of Uri, son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah, [sup]3 [/sup]and I have filled him with the Spirit of God, with ability and intelligence, with knowledge and all craftsmanship,

Exodus 35:30-31 (ESV)
[sup]30 [/sup]Then Moses said to the people of Israel, “See, the Lord has called by name Bezalel the son of Uri, son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah; [sup]31 [/sup]and he has filled him with the Spirit of God, with skill, with intelligence, with knowledge, and with all craftsmanship,

Judges 3:9-10 (ESV)
[sup]9 [/sup]But when the people of Israel cried out to the Lord, the Lord raised up a deliverer for the people of Israel, who saved them, Othniel the son of Kenaz, Caleb’s younger brother. [sup]10 [/sup]The Spirit of the Lord was upon him, and he judged Israel. He went out to war, and the Lord gave Cushan-rishathaim king of Mesopotamia into his hand. And his hand prevailed over Cushan-rishathaim.

1 Samuel 16:14 (ESV)
[sup]14 [/sup]Now the Spirit of the Lord departed from Saul, and a harmful spirit from the Lord tormented him.

Psalm 51:11 (ESV)
[sup]11 [/sup]Cast me not away from your presence, and take not your Holy Spirit from me.

Ezekiel 2:1-2 (ESV)
[sup]1 [/sup]And he said to me, “Son of man, stand on your feet, and I will speak with you.” [sup]2 [/sup]And as he spoke to me, the Spirit entered into me and set me on my feet, and I heard him speaking to me.

Ezekiel 3:24 (ESV)
[sup]24 [/sup]But the Spirit entered into me and set me on my feet, and he spoke with me and said to me, “Go, shut yourself within your house.

Ezekiel 11:5 (ESV)
[sup]5 [/sup]And the Spirit of the Lord fell upon me, and he said to me, “Say, Thus says the Lord: So you think, O house of Israel. For I know the things that come into your mind.

2 Timothy 3:16 (ESV)
[sup]16 [/sup]All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness,

Including the OT.

(Matthew 11:11) “I tell you solemnly, of all the children born of women, a greater than John the Baptist has never been seen; yet the least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he is.”

Your point?
(1 John 5:18) “ We know that anyone born of God does not continue to sin; the one who was born of God keeps him safe, and the evil one cannot harm him”

Doesn't say they don't sin.
(1John 5:18) “We know that no one begotten by God sins; but the one begotten by God he protects, and the evil one cannot touch him.

1 John 3:9 (ESV)
[sup]9 [/sup]No one born of God makes a practice of sinning, for God’s seed abides in him, and he cannot keep on sinning because he has been born of God.

Nobody is perfect, except Jesus.

For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God. Romans 3:23

Anyone who says otherwise needs to humble themselves.

There is so little understanding of this in the doctrine spinning mills. Churchianity has taken the richness of the truth and reduced it to a 2 dimensional apologetic for a self proclaimed salvation for rich westerners.

All that is not of faith is sin!

The deeper sins usually go unnoticed by the one who is able to avoid the sins of the flesh.

Rather, ONLY when we are being constantly filled with the Spirit an walking in the Spirit will we leave no room for the flesh!

Is it possible to no longer sin through Christ? Yes!
smile.gif

But that one will be exibiting the same love as Christ did. One can never overcome sin by trying to overcome sin!

I agree

"A spiritual christian does not sin"

If the above statement were true, then there could be no spiritual christians anywhere. For scripture states that ALL have sinned.

Was Paul a 'spiritual christian? He sinned.

everyone is spiritual, and I know many christians. ergo many spiritual christians. And All of them sinners.

What a nonsense post. with respect.

A Spiritual Christian will not commit a deliberate sin.
(Hebrews 10:26) “If, after we have been given knowledge of the truth, we should deliberately commit any sins, then there is no longer any sacrifice for them.”
(1 John 3: 5 - 6) “ Now you know that He appeared in order to abolish sin, and that in Him there is no sin; anyone who lives in God does not sin, and anyone who sins has never seen Him or known Him.”
(1 John 5:18) “ We know that anyone born of God does not continue to sin; the one who was born of God keeps him safe, and the evil one cannot harm him”
(1 John 3:8) “He who does what is sinful is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil's work”

So there are nonspiritual Christians?
Heb. 10:26;
For if we deliberately persist in sin after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there is no longer any sacrifice for sins.
IN context, Peter is talking about a lifestyle, NOT individual sins. 1 John 1:5-10 sets the perspective for the rest of 1 John.
[sup] [/sup]Now this is the message that we have heard from him and are proclaiming to you: God is light, and there is absolutely no darkness in him. [sup]6 [/sup]If we say that we have fellowship with him but continue to walk in darkness, we lie and are not putting the truth into practice. [sup]7 [/sup]But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin. [sup]8 [/sup]If we say that we are without sin, we are deceiving ourselves and the truth is not in us. [sup]9 [/sup]If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. [sup]10 [/sup]If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar and his word is not in us.
1 Cor 3:1-3; And so, brothers, I could not speak to you as spiritual people, but rather as people of the flesh, as infants in Christ. [sup]2 [/sup]I gave you milk, not solid food, for you were not ready for it. And even now you are not yet ready, [sup]3 [/sup]for you are still of the flesh. For while there is jealousy and strife among you, are you not of the flesh and behaving like mere men?
This is typical of new born Christians. They have to learn, and they do. Think of your early life as a Christian.
1 John 3:4-10 gives the full context here; [sup]4 [/sup]Everyone who makes a practice of sinning is also breaking the law; indeed, sin is lawlessness. [sup]5 [/sup]And you know that he appeared to take away our sins, and that there is no sin in him. [sup]6 [/sup]No one who abides in him keeps on sinning; no one who continues to sin has either seen him or known him. [sup]7 [/sup]Little children, let no one deceive you. Whoever makes it a practice to do what is right is righteous, just as he is righteous. [sup]8 [/sup]The one who continues to sin is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The Son of God appeared for this purpose—that he might destroy the works of the devil. [sup]9 [/sup]No one born of God makes a practice of sinning, because God’s seed abides in him. He cannot keep on sinning, because he has been born of God. [sup]10 [/sup]By this the children of God and the children of the devil are revealed: whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor is the one who does not love his brother.
Again, we see here a lifestyle, not individual sinning.
1 John 5:18; We know that everyone who has been born of God does not continue to sin, but the one who was born of God protects him and the evil one will not harm him.
I would be interested in knowing what Bible version you are using. I have quoted all the above from the MOUNCE NT.
Your version seems to miss the intent of God in showing lifestyle verses individual sins. NO ONE can be sinless, no matter how spiritual they are. We never stop needing Christ in our lives, as we ARE a sinful people and will not lose our carnal nature until the resurrection and second coming of Jesus.

People see the world the way they themselves are.

Luk_11:34 The light of the body is the eye: therefore when thine eye is single, thy whole body also is full of light; but when thine eye is evil, thy body also is full of darkness.
Luk_11:35 Take heed therefore that the light which is in thee be not darkness.
Luk_11:36 If thy whole body therefore be full of light, having no part dark, the whole shall be full of light, as when the bright shining of a candle doth give thee light.

The Bible says we become what we look at - give our attention to - a bit like 'you are what you eat'.
