Actually, Babylon of Nebuchadnezzar is the roots of the Great Whore, and Babylon has nothing to do with the ancient whore of the Old Testament, the city of Jerusalem, called Aholibah-Eze.23:v.4- whose CITY was destroyed in 586 B.C.. In the current time, Jerusalem, whose CITY was AGAIN DESTROYED in the year 70AD, is spiritually called Sodom and Egypt-Rev.11:v.8-and has nothing to do with Babylon Revelation 17 as falsely claims the thread.

Where is the roots of the Great Whore? In Babylon around 2.600 years ago, a specific Babylon that does not fit with the FALSE thread posted, course. How could we explain this MYSTERY and proving Jerusalem is not the Great Whore Revelation 17? First of all we need to believe in the Word of GOD, not in imaginations and suppositions and, consequently, false interpretations. In fact the ROOTS of the Great Whore is in Babylon of Nebuchadnezzar, there the reason by which Babylon still appears in Revelation-Rev.13:v.2 and chap.17-even after around 2,600 years of Daniel's prophecy, even until this current time of Apocalypse.

Revelation 13:v.1-2 reveals: (Revelation was written around year 95 A.D.)

V.1 - And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a Beast rise up out of the sea, having 7 heads and 10 horns, and upon his horns 10 crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy.

2 - And the Beast(of sea) which I saw (looking back for ancient time, of course) was like unto a LEOPARD(Geece), his feet were as the feet of a BEAR(Medo-Persian), and his mouth as the mouth of a LION (Babylon of Nebuchadnezar): and the dragon -the MAN Beast of earth-Revelation 13:v.11-gave (will give) to the Man Beast of sea his Power, and his Seat, and great Authority, according Revelation 11:v.2 and 13:v.5.

(Interesting detail: Daniel shows in his description these three kingdoms as being represented sequencially first by lion, after bear, and third a leopard, but John looking back to the past, he saw the inverse, from more recent to the oldest, i.e. leopard, and bear, and lion-here the roots of the Great Whore as IS WRITTEN in Revelation 13:v.2 and chap.17; very interesting).

Who first prophesied about the Beast of sea of Revelation 13 was Daniel. Dan. 7:1 to 25

As all know, the prophecy is revealing about the fourth Empire - the dreadful and terrible, and strong Roman Empire- diverse from the prior Empires, Greek, Medo-Persian and Babylonian which were before it. As all know, the Roman Empire was specifically and genuinely a Gentile Empire, but there was also a completely ALIEN being or nation in the Gentile Roman Empire: It was Israel, the clay, descendants of Abraham, a specific nation created by the LORD-Isaiah 64:v.8-, the clay, the dry land. After the death of Solomon, Israel was divided in two Kingdoms-10 tribes-Israel Kingdom, 2 tribes-Judah and Benjamin-the Kingdom of Judah.

THE TEN HORNS LINKED TO THE BEAST OF SEA WITHIN THE FOURTH BEAST - THE ROMAN EMPIRE OF WESTERN

(JUDAH is another Kingdom separated from the nation or kingdom of Israel, and is not accounted in this prophecy). Both above kingdoms were DISSOLVED completely, both empires were politically and militarly DISSOLVED and THEIR INHABITANTS spread among nations, both empires were transformed into A SPECIFIC religious Powers until the currrent time, and both will still last for more a little of time.

Well, here is an example:
After king Solomon's death, Israel divided/split into two kingdoms, Israel and Judah, in approximately 930BC.

The book of Daniel was written around 600-530BC.
Its background of prophecy was manifested in the flesh as being the Antiochan
persecution of the Jews. [king Antiochus Epiphanes of the Grecian Seleucid Empire].

Solomon's Temple was destroyed in approx. 538BC.

The book of Zechariah was written around 518BC.
Zechariah 14 speaks of that division, and the FIRST appearance of the Messiah/Jesus.

SEE 1 Maccabees 1, written 100-63BC for the history of the Antiochan persecution of the Jews-
It was that king who committed the actual act of
"the abomination that maketh desolate" of the Jewish Temple, of which Jesus referenced in Matthew 24:15.

FACT #1: The prophecy in Daniel about the "AoD" Was fulfilled by Antiochus Epiphanese in 145BC.
FACT #2: Once a prophecy has been fulfilled, IT CAN NEVER BE FULFILLED AGAIN!

However, prophecy that has been fulfilled, can be used as type and anti-type, which is exactly what Jesus was doing, BY POINTING to Himself.
He was making the point that the "AoD" was to take place in the Temple of His own mortal body, as type and anti-type. He said to His disciples: "When YE shall see the abomination of desolation....stand in the Holy place...then let them which in Judea flee into the mountains."

^ The very act of Jesus' Crucifixion, was an abomination unto God, of which made Israel to be desolate of God.

So why did Jesus reference Daniel, if the Jews didn't know about the AoD, even though the Jews themselves did record it?
If the AoD never happened yet, then why do the Jews still celebrate Hanukkah to this day??

AGAIN, you are associating with the wrong "he" in that verse , and have gone completely in the wrong direction for understanding, of WHICH Covenant of God was being confirmed, and by Whom.

One prophetic week is 7 years.
John the Baptist's ministry was for 6 months.
Jesus' ministry was for 3 years, totaling to be 3.5 years, aka "in the midst of the week".

In the middle of that 70th week, was when Jesus was crucified, being the lamb of God, shedding His blood as the ultimate sacrifice for the sin of the world. His sacrifice caused the cessation of the requirement of animal sacrifices and all the Temple services.
However, the Jews did not see it that way, and continued their sacrificing of animals etc., showing no respect for the sacrifice of the Son of God.

Therefore, because of Jesus' sacrifice of Himself, all animal sacrifices and the Temple services were now become "abominations" in God's sight.
Because the Jews would not stop their works of animal sacrifices in the temple, God made an end to it, by allowing the Temple building to be destroyed in 70AD, and thus it shall remain to be destroyed,
"even until the consummation".

"The abominatioN that maketh desolate", is not the same as "the overspreading of abominationS", which was the continuation/extremity of animal sacrifices by the Jews.

Since 70AD., we are now 1,952 years closer to the consummation.
Has the Temple/sanctuary remained in ruin?

God spells it all out for us to be honest, its pretty basic stuff.

Rev. 16:19 And the great city was divided(Jerusalem/Earthquake/Jesus) into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell{Jesus speaks victory} and great Babylon came in remembrance before God, to give unto her the cup of the wine of the fierceness of his wrath.

So, God calls those He defeats via Jesus in Rev. 16:19 Babylon the Great. So, who are these people? Vial #6 tells us exactly who thy are, no guess work needed.

Rev. 16:14 For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles, which go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty.

Thus God tells us Babylon is this whole deceived world, under Satan's rule. What an apt description. The word Babel means confusion, and here we see Satan confusing the masses to the point they try to defeat their own loving, caring God.
