Do you teach unrepentance as a requirement for baptism or repentance?
Which did Peter teach?...
37 Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?
38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
Repentance is a MUST, but one must understand what it means.....it means to “ change your mind” ....the Jews had just crucified Jesus as a Blasphemer , claiming to be the Son Of God when he was Not, according to their Spiritual Blindness....They had to change their minds ( Repent) as to Who He was.... No different than anybody that ever lived and desired to get Saved....” Who do you say that I am?” Your answer to that question determines your Eternal Fate.....
Anybody that “changes their mind” about the Truth Of The Gospel.....Anyone That has Turned ( Repented ) from disbelief in it to belief in it has done all the “ Repenting” that they ever need do as far as Salvation is concerned.....
If I am a Jew, listening to Peter preach, I will do whatever he says to do.....
If I am a Gentile , I have been told to “ follow Paul” ..... he is the one that I go to for Doctrine .....Paul says the Way to get Saved is to Believe that Jesus died for your Sins and rose from the grave......Repentance is built-in to the Gospel if you went from Unbelief in it to Belief in it.....
Baptism is a type of “ picture show” .....it is outward show that depicts what has occurred on the inside of a Saved person....it does not MAKE you a Believer in Jesus, which is the thing that Saves you—- it is a sign that you ARE a Believer in Jesus ......one should do it as an act of obedience—-not as the means to get Saved....Trusting the Gospel does that.... the Instant That you Believe it.....
