1Jn 1:7 But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.

We know the blood of Christ cleanses us from all sin, but how does it prevent us from sinning?

Heb 9:13-14 For if the blood of bulls and goats and the ashes of a heifer, sprinkling the unclean, sanctifies for the purifying of the flesh, (14) how much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without spot to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?

How does the blood of Christ remove the desire to sin?

Well, it says the blood cleanses the conscience. It's our sign that our sins have been forgiven.

Now, having our consciences cleansed, gratitude to a loving and forgiving God would be an appropriate response. That eternal Spirit that verse mentions, part of His job description is to help us serve the Living God.

How does the blood of Christ remove the desire to sin?

Hi, if you wouldn’t mind, ‘it doesn’t’…..

But knowing that when Christ died, you died, does, for this knowing, frees one from the necessity of sinning, for the desire to sin is that desire that knowing and believing one has died with Christ in His death, frees one from…

For the desire to sin has not died and is not removed, (as all can attest to), but we have died to it, for reckoning upon one’s death in Christ by faith, is God’s way of deliverance from being under control of this desire, therefore does scripture say;

‘he that has died is freed from sin’…

For consider; if you were to fall down dead right this instant, sin would have no power over you… Mr. Sin could come by and say, ‘get up, come on and let’s go sin’, but you would be incapable of responding to him, because you were dead… This is the freedom from sin that the salvation of Christ brings to mankind..

There is deliverance from sin and that is the reason Paul was accused of preaching a Gospel of ‘let us do evil that good may come’… For Paul preached that all things come through one’s believing that what God said is true, and so it is still today…

So keep on trusting God’s love for you, for in that trusting, will what the salvation in Christ consists of be revealed in your inner most being and being made free from sin will follow…

Be so blessed in that revealing, a fellow follower of His, Not me

Not unless we allow it to.

Joh 6:53-56 Then Jesus said to them, "Most assuredly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in you. (54) Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. (55) For My flesh is food indeed, and My blood is drink indeed. (56) He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood abides in Me, and I in him.

Heb 13:20-21 Now may the God of peace who brought up our Lord Jesus from the dead, that great Shepherd of the sheep through the blood of the everlasting covenant, (21) make you complete in every good work to do His will, working in you what is well pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.

Rev 12:11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.

Hi, I’m sorry, I understood your question as ‘how does one get rid of their desire to sin’, if this is not true, please forgive, if true, then be blessed as your relationship with Christ teaches you this….

A fellow believer, Not me

Edit, it might help to consider, one does not put an end to their desire to sin, but one is freed from being under control of their desire to sin…

Yes, very well put. Knowing what we are redeemed with should be incentive to walk in paths of righteousness. Thanks for furthering this discussion.

1Pe 1:17-19 And if you call on the Father, who without partiality judges according to each one's work, conduct yourselves throughout the time of your stay here in fear; (18) knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, (19) but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.

You have to do your part and do God's commandments. Galatians chapter 5 tells you to walk according to spirit and not the flesh, to crucify your flesh. Romans chapter 7 tells you that the sin(s) in you, that dwell in your flesh, causes you to serve your flesh and do your sins.

In our own strength we cannot hope to keep His commandments. Faith in the One Who was obedient unto death, even the death of the cross (Philippians 2) is what saves.

I don’t think it is even possible to not sin in these bodies under the curse. We don’t want to but we do. We try to be our best but it is inevitable we will sin in the future. Jesus paid for all of our sin, past, present and future.

How does the blood of Christ remove the desire to sin?

The Blood of Christ does not stop you from sinning.
It cleanses you from all sin, and then God gives you the New Birth.

Now, you are a Son of God, Daughter of Christ.

You now, as the born again Spirit, exist in God.......In other words, ..... God has birthed your Spirit into His, by the Holy Spirit.
So, this Spiritually born again BELIEVER, is now "in Christ".. "One with God".
In other words......in Spiritual Union with the Holy Spirit of God.
This spiritual birth restores you to the same spiritual condition as Adam had before He rebelled.
The born again BELIEVER, is now "made righteous"......and that is not your body or your mind...its only your Born again Spirit.

Later, the Born Again Spirit, gets a NEW body, as the one you are in now, is dying, and is not redeemed.

So, if you want to stop sinning, then you have to resolve where your flesh is controlling you.
That is in your mind.
You think to sin, and you do it.
You want to sin, (work of the flesh) in your head....so, you have to deal with that carnal MIND.
How?
This is the interesting part....as its not dealt with by trying to be good, as that just causes you to think about sinful pleasure more, which leads to more carnal deeds.
So, the more you try not to lust and think about sinful pleasure, the more you will.
So, you have to be delivered from that MIND "of the flesh".
Paul says to "reckon it dead", as its "crucified with Christ".

To do that, you have to "RENEW YOUR MIND">.., and that's partly done by getting away from the visuals that drive lust.
Like the TV, and anything visual that stimulates your body.

The more important part of mind renewing is to understand that God only sees you , if you are born again......as "made righteous"..."the righteousness of God, in Christ".
So, you have to learn to see yourself, only as God sees you, and once you do, once you start this renewing of your mind, then the Grace of God, becomes this over time for you... "Christ always gives me the Victory".

@Mantis Even as the believer can rest in the finished work of Christ at the Cross for sinners, we by His grace take up our crosses daily and follow Him. "And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me." (Luke 9.23)

Think of it in a different direction....Mantis
Think of it like this...
Would God redeem us with the Blood of Jesus, and give us a new Born again Spirit, so that we can behave by deed, exactly as unbelievers live as a lifestyle?

So, the issue........ is that "working out your salvation", has some understanding that has to be accomplished so that you can find yourself as this.....
= "Christ ALWAYS give me the VICTORY"... and Paul says of these Believers....>"As many as be PERFECT"..

This is why God sends you a Teacher.

So, the issue isn't sin, the issue is not understanding how to access the "Victory" that "Christ always gives"......Paul teaches.

See that word....>"Always". ???
That's not a mistranslation of the Greek.

Again, not unless you allow it to.

Heb 10:28-29 A man who disregards Moses’ law dies without compassion on the word of two or three witnesses. (29) How much worse punishment do you think he will be judged worthy of who has trodden under foot the Son of God, and has counted the blood of the covenant with which he was sanctified an unholy thing, and has insulted the Spirit of grace?

In our own strength we cannot hope to keep His commandments. Faith in the One Who was obedient unto death, even the death of the cross (Philippians 2) is what saves.

Works is needed to go along with faith. Faith alone is dead without the works. James 2:17

The reason why you want to do the commandments is so you can make your body, which is the holy temple, habitable for the spirit of God. Ephesians 4:27-30 says not to give place to the devil. You're in a battle every day where you want the kingdom of light to overtake the kingdom of darkness.

Again, not unless you allow it to.

What you said, and the Hebrew's verse you posted, are not related to each other..
You realize this?

So, to stop sinning, is based on this....>"Christ always gives me the Victory".
This means that to become THAT Believer, you first have to be born agan, and not just water baptized..... and THEN...you have to "work our your salvation", and arrive at a place where you are walking in the Spirit, all the time, by knowing how.
And that is not by trying to be good., as that is self effort, and walking in the Spirit is not a self effort...its a revelation that allows the Grace of God to empower you to be this.....>"as many as be Perfect".

Well I admit that sins that I used to commit I have no desire to do anymore. I used to drink to the point of drunkenness every night, fornication etc. I was absolutely miserable in that life and that where Jesus met me. But though I don’t commit those big sins anymore I still struggle with smaller sins. Smaller sins in my view. Stuff I don’t want to talk about because it’s personal. But I find sometimes I’ll commit a sin almost in accident. And realize it right away. That’s why I think it is almost impossible to not sin in these bodies.

When i was here last year, i wrote over 140 Threads.
Some are quite detailed, and talk about all these issues you are thinking about, and how to see them correctly, and overcome, based on "walking in the Spirit".
If you have time....i think my Threads are still around.
If you can't find them there, then find me as Kidron, or Bethel, on other forums.
Im everywhere, online.

So.....lets take a look.

"sin"

Ok, this is really just a deed, a "work of the flesh", you do with your body or mind, that is unholy because its being viewed by a Holy God as unholy.
So, its a activity, mental or literally, that is evaluated by God, as "sin" or "transgression".

Now, here is a verse.....Romans 4:8....It says that God does not charge YOU with your sin..
That is if you are born again, and not some water cult person, who thinks that water has washed your sin away.
So, if you are not that heretic, and you are born again, then here is your sin..

= "Jesus became sin".... And the born again are "made righteous".....the born again have received from God : "the gift of Righteousness".
The born again exist, spiritually, (you are a spirit that lives in a body) * you are not the body*......you just live in it till it dies, and then your Spirit goes to Heaven or Hell. Thats the eternal game plan.
So, once you are born again SPIRITUALLY.....then the rules have changed, vs, the rule you were UNDER, when you were an unbeliever.
As then, you were "Under the Law" and the law is a curse, as it defines you as a sinner and judges you as GUILTY before God Almighty.

"Jesus has (freed) redeemed us from the CURSE OF THE LAW"....that was judging you a SINNER.

Now, if you are born again, you are not "under the law, you are UNDER GRACE" and there is not law found there, only GRACE.

Here are the New Rules....>"Jesus became sin", and the born again have become : "the righteousness of God, In Christ"., and this is to be UNDER GRACE and not "under the law".

Here is how that looks on earth.....>"""As Jesus IS.....so ARE....the Born Again.... ON...THIS... EARTH"

See that?
That is also this....>the born again are "seated in Heavenly Places IN Christ"..

See that?

And why is all that true?
Its because, the born again, "have been translated, from darkness TO LIGHT", by being born again, and are now "ONE with GOD". "in Christ".

What does that mean ?
It means that the born again have a body on earth, but we exit Spiritually BORN AGAIN = IN GOD, IN CHRIST, IN HEAVEN, IN The Kingdom of God, having been "translated into it".

See all that?

You have to see all that......you have to SEE ALL THAT, and understand that this is who you have become....
And you can't see it, till a Teacher teaches you.
This is why God calls some to "teach", and some to Preach, and some to evangelize........etc.

And once you SEE IT, once you get the revelation..... then you have taken your first class in the spiritual school of "working out your salvation".....as to work it out, is to understand > by revelation....exactly who you have become, as a "heir of God", and a "joint heir with Christ" = BORN AGAIN.

How many believers learn this about their Spiritual born again selves?
Id say about ...... very few.
And why is that?
Its because we are in the end times, and its nearly impossible to be taught Pauline Theology in a church or find it online, or even in a Christian Bookstore......as im teaching.

Christianity, has become in these end times.....disconnected from the NT and the Grace of God, as "doctrine"..., to such a degree that when you hear real preaching and teaching on it, ... most believers can't even relate to it, and want to argue their law and commandment keeping, and their self righteousness.

Its the Power of the Blood of Jesus, that is the Grace of God, as Salvation.
God redeems us, as born again through the Blood of Jesus.
"there is power, power, wonder working power in the blood,.. of the Lamb". "What can wash away my sin...NOTHING but the BLOOD of Jesus".
Not water......never water.......only the BLOOD of Jesus.

We are "made righteous" by the shed Blood of Jesus, but we are empowered to live in Victory over Sin, by= "Christ in you, the Hope of Glory".

The Blood of God, who is Christ on the Cross... washes us REDEEMED, and the Power of Christ, living on the inside of us, is our..."CHRIST always gives me the VICTORY".

Walking in this power of Christ, by Faith, is to "walk in the Spirit", with a "renewed mind".
