It's that pesky Sabbath command that stops them.
It's not that the idea of a sabbath day to congregate and focus on the Lord is pesky. For even non-sabbatarians congregate and focus on the Lord (just on a different day). It's retaining the legalistic nature of Moses' sabbath observance that is resisted. Like many of the stipulations of the law, the strict legalism of the sabbath had it's purpose. It served it's purpose. Now we graduate to the reality it pointed to and leave the legalism behind.

I disagree, 10 commandments are alive and well today, no legalism just dedicate the Sabbath as your day off, not Emperor Constatines (Sun)day, it's that simple

This argument all comes down to what day we're supposed to have church on. I think it's a silly, meaningless argument. That's what 'religion' (in every bad connotation of the word) is all about. My way of worship is the right one. That's not what life in Christ is all about. The law and it's legalisms had it's purpose. That purpose has been realized. Time to move onward and upward into the things that actually matter.

These are all good and no one is arguing with them. What you're not taking into consideration is the effect the New Covenant has on how we keep God's commands. We're not in the old covenant anymore. Things really have changed. I've tried to show you this and why I personally feel no obligation to act as if we're still under the old covenant. The Ministry and Sacrifice of Christ changed things. God's simply not looking for me to buckle down and worship him on a one and only approved day in a one and only approved way. He's looking for me to rest in Christ, the Sabbath Rest for mankind ordained from the very foundation of the world. THAT is what matters. These silly arguments about the right way to do church are meaningless. But if you are sure that is what matters and what God is demanding from you, then that's what you need to do. I know that it was an illustration of the Sabbath Rest that actually matters - Rest in Christ from the taskmaster and slavery of sin.

The church was established on Sabbath observance, yes Paul and Barnabas observed church on the Sabbath, and they admonished the early church to continue in this grace of Sabbath observance

Yes they met on the Sabbath, no it wasn't Sunday, yes they were new converts proselytes, yes this was the early Church

Merriam-Webster
Definition of proselyte
: a new convert (as to a faith or cause)

Acts 13:42-44KJV
42 And when the Jews were gone out of the synagogue, the Gentiles besought that these words might be preached to them the next sabbath.
43 Now when the congregation was broken up, many of the Jews and religious proselytes followed Paul and Barnabas: who, speaking to them, persuaded them to continue in the grace of God.
44 And the next sabbath day came almost the whole city together to hear the word of God.

I sense you're still not understanding what the work is in the passage.
The work being spoken of is not the works of a person's personal obedience to righteousness. It's not a OSAS passage.

The work that gets burned up are the people you failed to bring with you through the fires of the judgment to come. It has no bearing on your salvation, only theirs.
Says who? Not the bible. Here are the verses

1 Co 3
1 Corinthians 3:11
For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.
1 Corinthians 3:12
Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble;
1 Corinthians 3:13
Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is.

So this is talking about works a person does, building on the foundation Jesus gave us.

Then we are told He will reward us for works, as many other places in the bible also say.

Then Paul says that even if some have works that are no good and don't count for rewards that that person will still be saved.

This goes round and round but all Christians should, and do if they truly are Christian, keep they keep nine of the Ten and would not argue against keeping them. It's that pesky Sabbath command that stops them.
All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any

Well, I keep them. So do many others who truly love the Lord.

Ok, now someone answer this for me then. I want you to think here:

What calendar are you guys saying we should go by to "keep the 7th Day"? Because the Jews were keeping a LUNAR calendar when they were observing the 4th Commandment. What that means is that their "7th Day" jumped around all over the place from month to month. In Israel this was no problem because the whole nation took off on the Sabbath together, in observing things according to the Lunar month. But how many Christians do you guys honestly think in today's culture would be able to keep the 7th Day on Mondays this month, Tuesdays next month, and Thursdays in March? Who would even be able to keep a job?

Again, no offense, but I think you guys are inadvertenty placing a burden on people that most can't keep, and Jesus talked about the Pharisees doing this to people. I wouldn't want to see Him viewing any of you the same way. Honestly.

The 10 commandments can be kept,

Let me guess, just not by you? Do you keep the ten commandments yes or no? If you say yea you are breaking one of them!

You adamantly oppose Sabbath observance as per my observation,
I sure do. The real observance is to love God in our hearts. Any other observance like maybe a communion are wonderful. Of course a communion can be done with a cracker and juice if needed. The Lord's day can be celebrated in prison, at work, if someone had to work, and etc. The claims about not driving, not moving, not having any fun, blah blah or else we are breaking a sabbath are rubbish.

the fact is the 4th commandment hasn't been revoked or replaced, there are 10 commandments

Making you boast in the law?
Romans 2:23
Thou that makest thy boast of the law, through breaking the law dishonourest thou God?

So tell us, do you keep the law and all of it all the time, yes or no?

Ro 229 But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.

It was not the act of cutting skin that made them right with God, but having their hearts right. It was not the law that made them right! The letter of the law kills.

Ok HIM I am going to give you an opportunity to turn the brain on. I find a lot of humor in this tread....this right here, is how and why there are 30,000 denominations. People not understanding debating about what they do not know. I mean there is humor...sad, but funny.
On this topic of the Hebrew calendar.
The Hebrews kept a Lunar calendar that is true. Also events of the Sun. They also kept a seasonal calendar that related to the planting and harvest.
But you have to understand how it works. Their months start on the New Moon...No Moon....so the 15th of the month is the Full Moon, every Hebrew month...But....the days of the week do not reset at the beginning of the New Moon, at the beginning of the month. If the last day of the month is a Monday....the next the beginning of the Lunar month is a Tuesday.

This is why the Passover does not always fall on a Saturday. During the time of Christ's crucifixion it was during a cycle when the Passover happened to fall on the Sabbath. Double Sabbath.

Passover is calculated roughly on the first Full Moon after Vernal Equinox. That will generally be on the 15th, and the day of the week don't matter, but it is always on a Full Moon. But Easter matters to Christians and they wanted it to fall on a Sunday. So their calculations are similar. Easter falls on the first Sunday after the first Full Moon after the Vernal Equinox.

Now the so called Ten Commandments in chapter 20
What was the scene...event at Mt. Sinai about?
Why weren't the ten summary of Laws in chapter 20 called the Ten Commandments?
Why didn't God say they were the Covenant Commandments ?
Why would God give a set of simple summaries....first.?
The details of the Mosaic Law would regulate things down to the color of cattle in the field.
Why was it important to get the basic moral rules for the Old Testament stated first?
Stated first to the whole nation of Israel?
You can figure this out.

The basic morals are basic morals so they will show up referenced by Christ and the Apostles in the New Covenant. Could it be any other way?....Basic morality is part of Christianity. But the morals that Christ and the Apostles taught were above the basic morals. But the phrase the Ten Commandments does not appear in the New Testament....for a reason. The Apostles are not going repeat the Law to keep the Sabbath Holy or not to make any graven images. In fact it is said you can pick your own day.

Christians are not under any Law in the Old Testament. The Christians more or less took the day of rest concept from the Sabbath...For the Lord's Day. Don't work. But we can pick any day to worship and more or less rest....we may make big meals....my favorite. We may play horseshoes or play yard games with the kids. Relaxation.

Some may choose to observe the Saturday Sabbath....but since they are not under any rules they can observe it anyway they want.

The commandments of Jesus were easy and light compared to the law. They also bring life. His command is to believe on Him, and to love others. We also of course can try to use the ten commandments as a guide and standard, even though we can't keep the law. It is not good to try to make every word 'commandment' or 'law' to mean keeping the old law.

So come on out of the closet and admit that you do not keep all the law! Not like you're fooling anyone anyhow. Either that or tell us clearly in your next post that you keep all the law all the time. Ha Let's cut the uknowwhat.

Lurkers, this poster was asked several times to state whether they keep all the law all the time or not, yes or no

We wait.

PS the commandment we need to keep for eternal life is to believe in Jesus! He gave us other ones also like love each other preach the gospel, etc. These we should and could keep. I even admire when people try to keep all the ten commandments as much as lieth in them. What I do not like is hypocrites.

So you do not understand. And you can't understand.
One you have to pay attention to who Christ is talking to in the Gospels....
Period of the Gospels in the Old Covenant...Many times when Christ is talking to Jews they are discussing Judaism.
New Covenant....do not put new wine in old wine skins...do not put new unwashed patches on old cloths....both will be ruined.

I am sorry for your inability to understand. Please please do not start a new denomination.

Paul's understandings of the Law is made clear in the scriptures he wrote, calling them a curse, a ministry of death and made it clear that looking to them would separate you from Christ and you would fall from grace. The old covenant was made obsolete by the new covenant...and the old covenant was ready to disappear....That Christ had set us free and we should stand firm and not be subject again to a yoke of slavery....I, Paul, tell you that if you have yourselves circumcised, Christ will be of no benefit to you. And I testify again to every man who has himself circumcised, that he is obligated to keep the whole Law. 4 You have been severed from Christ, you who are seeking to be justified by the Law; you have fallen from grace...That Christ redeemed us from the curse of the Law....That the Law was a tutor but now that we have faith, we do not need a tutor....but Paul made reference to those that wanted to be under the law...saying that if you are led by the spirit you are not under the law....Then he goes on to say over and over again that we are not under the law....we are released from the law...and that Christ was the end of the law....But Paul wanted to win those that were under the law...

Paul made it clear that we are not under the law in anyway and that the law was inferior to Christ's teachings. Hebrew 8:7 For if that first covenant had been faultless, there would have been no occasion sought for a second.

2nd Corinthians 3:7-18 But if the ministry of death, in letters engraved on stones, came with glory, so that the sons of Israel could not look intently at the face of Moses because of the glory of his face, fading as it was, how will the ministry of the Spirit fail to be even more with glory? For if the ministry of condemnation has glory, much more does the ministry of righteousness abound in glory. For indeed what had glory, in this case has no glory because of the glory that surpasses it. For if that which fades away was with glory, much more that which remains is in glory. Therefore having such a hope, we use great boldness in our speech, and are not like Moses, who used to put a veil over his face so that the sons of Israel would not look intently at the end of what was fading away. But their minds were hardened; for until this very day at the reading of the old covenant the same veil remains unlifted, because it is removed in Christ. But to this day whenever Moses is read, a veil lies over their heart; but whenever a person turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit.

Hebrews 8:13
When He said, “A new covenant,” He has made the first obsolete. But whatever is becoming obsolete and growing old is ready to disappear.

Galatians 5:1-4
It was for freedom that Christ set us free; therefore keep standing firm and do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery. Look! I, Paul, tell you that if you have yourselves circumcised, Christ will be of no benefit to you. And I testify again to every man who has himself circumcised, that he is obligated to keep the whole Law. 4 You have been severed from Christ, you who are seeking to be justified by the Law; you have fallen from grace.

Galatians 3:12 Christ redeemed us from the curse of the Law, having become a curse for us.

Galatians 3:24-26 Therefore the Law has become our tutor to lead us to Christ, so that we may be justified by faith. But now that faith has come, we are no longer under a tutor. For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus.

Galatians 4:21 Tell me, you who want to be under law, do you not listen to the Law?

Romans 4:15 for the Law brings about wrath, but where there is no law, neither is there violation.

Romans 5:13 For until the Law sin was in the world; sin is not “imputed” when there is no Law.

Galatians 5:18 But if you are led by the spirit, you are not under the Law.

Romans 6:14 For sin shall not be master over you, for you are not under the law, but under grace & 18 Being then free from sin, you become the servants of righteousness.

Romans 7:6 But now we have been released from the Law, having died to that by which we were bound, so that we serve in newness of the Spirit and not in the oldness of the letter.

Romans 7:8 But sin, taking opportunity through the commandment, produced in me coveting of every kind; for apart from the Law sin is dead.

Romans 8:1-2 There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath you free from the law of sin and death.

Matthew 5:19KJV
19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
