Where in the Bible does it say that we are not allowed to have more than one wife at a time?

I do not have E-Sword on this computer and most of the internet is blocked.

Thanks in advance

Here are just two passages.......

Matthew 19:3-9
V.3 ¶ The Pharisees also came unto him, tempting him, and saying unto him, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife for every cause?
V.4 And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made [them] at the beginning made them male and female,
V.5 And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh?
V.6 Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.
V.7 They say unto him, Why did Moses then command to give a writing of divorcement, and to put her away?
V.8 He saith unto them, Moses because of the hardness of your hearts suffered you to put away your wives: but from the beginning it was not so.
V.9 And I say unto you, Whosoever shall put away his wife, except [it be] for fornication, and shall marry another, committeth adultery: and whoso marrieth her which is put away doth commit adultery.

1 Corinthians 7:1-2
V.1 ¶ Now concerning the things whereof ye wrote unto me: [It is] good for a man not to touch a woman.
V.2 Nevertheless, [to avoid] fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband.

--------------------------------------------------
The first marriage that God created was one man and one woman.
(This is God’s plan for marriage.)

Just because some men in the Bible had more than one wife, doesn’t make it right;
In fact this decision brought them much grief, because God didn’t bless it!

Solomon had about 700 wives and concubines and he was graced with incredible wisdom from God. ;)

Sounds like we are messing with traditional marriage with this one man married to one wife thing......

Well that's the great ideal isn't it aspen my parents have been married for about 32 years and our household is pretty healthy in a lot of ways. Except for me still living here at 27

With todays gender equality those 700 wives would each have 700 different men.

No way - they would each have a personal assistant!

Here's another way to look at it. In the Bible it tells us of only two women.

Galatians 4:24 ESV Now this may be interpreted allegorically: these women are two covenants. One is from Mount Sinai, bearing children for slavery; she is Hagar.

Galatians 4:25 ESV Now Hagar is Mount Sinai in Arabia; she corresponds to the present Jerusalem, for she is in slavery with her children.

Galatians 4:26 ESV But the Jerusalem above is free, and she is our mother.

Galatians 4:27 ESV For it is written, "Rejoice, O barren one who does not bear; break forth and cry aloud, you who are not in labor! For the children of the desolate one will be more than those of the one who has a husband."

Isaiah 62:5 ESV For as a young man marries a young woman, so shall your sons marry you, and as the bridegroom rejoices over the bride, so shall your God rejoice over you.

haha yeah that is true!

So far I'm just engaged to become a personal assistant :p Polygamy today sounds just horrible when viewed from that perspective :D
