Put your spouse's wants and needs above your own. After 53 years with the same person I know what I'm talking about!

Ephesians 5:25, "Husbands, love your wives just as Christ loved the church and gave himself for her"

As a woman in 2 year healthy marriage, there're some little tips for you.
1. Achieve a high degree of consistency in beliefs, as well as values: can really help you have a clear, efficient communication.
2. Go to church regularly together: which can help you achieve synchronization in actions.
3. Express the love to your partner: we need the sense of ceremony, my husabnd buys me flowers every week, and he always prepared anniversary gifts for me (while, I booked restaurants) He bought me a very unique ring as our 2rd anniversary gift, from DarryRing, that can only customize for one and only love in lifetime.
4. Have a regular talk every week: you don't need solve problems during the talk, but have a agreement on solving problems together.
5. A reasonable arrangements for responsiblities and tasks for both of you.

Ephesians 5:25, "Husbands, love your wives just as Christ loved the church and gave himself for her"
Wonderful verse. And, here is a description of how to love your wife/spouse:

1Co 13:4 Love is patient and kind; love is not jealous or boastful;
1Co 13:5 it is not arrogant or rude. Love does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful;
1Co 13:6 it does not rejoice at wrong, but rejoices in the right.
1Co 13:7 Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
1Co 13:8 Love never ends;

And as the survivor of a 44 year marriage, I couldn't agree with you more. I might add one other detail... Don't try to change your wife's personality or character to match your own. That's God's job. He does not need the water boy to run interference for Him.

Are you aware that those verses are the most accurate description in scripture of the love of God?

Lay down your life in service to your wife just as Christ did for His Church, forgiving her all things, bearing all things, cherishing and loving her with all your heart..

Peace be with you!

Even if you can't afford to buy flowers, it's the little things little things--helping around the house, going for walks, cooking an occasional meal together, just showing appreciation.

@Cassandra Sounds about right.

I do think that for a woman, gifts of flowers, earrings and chocolates can always been special...
