I've removed the denomination because I don't want this to be about the denomination itself - I only want people to see another blasphemous policy at work.
The divine Trinity _ "Father, Son and Holy Spirit" _ could also be known as "Mother, Child and Womb" or "Rock, Redeemer, Friend" at some Church (U.S.A.) services under an action Monday by the church's national assembly.... "This does not alter the church's theological position, but provides an educational resource to enhance the spiritual life of our membership," legislative committee chair Nancy Olthoff, an Iowa laywoman, said during Monday's debate on the Trinity.... A panel that worked on the issue since 2000 said the classical language for the Trinity should still be used, but added that Presbyterians also should seek "fresh ways to speak of the mystery of the triune God" to "expand the church's vocabulary of praise and wonder." One reason is that language limited to the Father and Son "has been used to support the idea that God is male and that men are superior to women," the panel said... Early in Monday's business session, the Church assembly sang a revised version of a familiar doxology, "Praise God from whom all blessings flow" that avoided male nouns and pronouns for God.
Some of the other names proposed include: "Lover, Beloved, Love" "Creator, Savior, Sanctifier" "King of Glory, Prince of Peace, Spirit of Love." I think we can see the problems that arise here. Confusion, first off, is certainly a point to be made here. Another point is that if you can change this idea which is clearly stated in the Bible, you can change other words and ideas just as easily. To me, this is another prime example of the old serpent at work.

PC gospel softening is sickening. It removes the power of God's Word to change people.

Whoops, you left the word 'Presbyterians' in the body of the post. :naughty: But, that's ok, I've read about that before. I think it is a step away from sound doctrine, to say the least. I hate to see things like this happen, but we were warned from the scripture. Titus 2:1 says, "You must teach what is in accord with sound doctrine." Personally I believe Paul gave brother Titus good advice there.God bless.

HI, I'm new to this board. I'm a Christian but personally I've got no objections to these new descriptions of the Trinity. After all, God isn't a male or a man! These titles or descriptions can help you to feel and think more about what God is like. Jesus described himself as like a mother hen who was calling to her chicks to come under her wing for protection, so he himself obviously wasn't worried about using feminine language. So I think these other titles are just additional ways to explain the Trinity. What's wrong with that? I really kind of like it!

Natchitoches, La
Well Denver,This definately sounds very cultish too me!The Word tells us clearly that there will be teachers that will teach only what people want to here in the last days!Really they only do these things because they want to justify the way that they live!

ohh....what the heck. Why are people trying to mess up the scriptures. What are they going to try to do next, call the angels... bird men. They need to stick with God's program. Its the Father, the Son, and the Holy spirit.

Hi kentots, I don't think they're trying to mess up the scriptures. God IS our Father, Jesus IS our Lord, the Holy Spirit IS what binds us together. But open your mind - and you can see that there are many ways you can describe this relationship. It's about love. For example, for some people the best way they can understand love is thinking about their mother. So Jesus says, he understands what it's like to be a mother - like a mother hen with her little chickens. I don't think this church (see OP) is doing anything bad - they're just trying to get people to get a feeling about God and what He's like.

Hi David161099, where did I say that Jesus was a woman? Jesus was a man. Nobody's saying he wasn't. But God isn't a man! 'God is not a mortal...'The point is, God is beyond distinctions between male and female.
