Hi guys. Here's a copy/paste from an email I received from a ministry in the US.

We've now learned that not only do nearly 700,000 Americans die of heart disease every single year because of diet and lifestyle, but also a virus can come along, exploit a diseased and dying population, and take another 700,000 to their grave in a year.

It is uncomfortable to say it, but even more uncomfortable to NOT say it: 94.5% of the COVID deaths happened to people with comorbid conditions, 4 conditions on average.

It is a loving thing to gently point out that weight management is a matter of life and death.

Not just during COVID, but every year. Never forget that for many years before the pandemic response changed everything (everything except our diet, of course), we were witnessing that same scale of carnage every single year because of our diet and lifestyle. And that's just heart disease, not to mention other lifestyle diseases!

But there are other very encouraging reasons to work on our diet.

I love what my friend Chad Kreuzer shares. Research has demonstrated that for each serving of fruits/vegetables you add to your diet you get a measurable boost of happiness!

In other words, God gave us a diet that helps us to thrive, to grow spiritually, and to shrink at the waistline - all to improve our health and happiness.

This is the first in a series of newsletters on the topic, so we'll leave it at that for now and share the 2 ways to lose 1 pound. Here they are:

#1. If calorie intake remains consistent, it takes the average person 35 miles of exercise (either jogging or walking) to lose 1 pound.

#2. If physical exertion (i.e. burning of calories) remains consistent, it takes a 3500 calorie deficit (over whatever period of time) to lose 1 pound.

Interesting that they both involve the number 35! Which is easily divisible by 7 for the seven days of the week.

So let's do the math, and apply both options to a week's time.

Assuming that at the moment you've been neither gaining nor losing weight, in order to lose one pound PER WEEK you can either:

...walk 5 EXTRA miles per day for seven days beyond your current physical activity (while keeping calorie intake consistent)...

OR

...eat, for seven days, 500 LESS calories per day than you've been eating. (As an example, one cup of ice cream contains about 500 calories.)

Either of those will cause 1 pound of fat to disappear over the course of a week.

So. Which is the easiest option?

Im definitely wanting to take good care of myself.

I think eating less calories is the easier option.

Often, there is a mental challenge to weight loss as well. We confront negativity and lies about ourselves and have to challenge them to even find the motivation to look after ourselves.

Obviously I would choose the second way. It's hardly to go out because I am a geeky guy, except for going out to work. Walking more than 5km is too difficult for me.
Can you do 2ks? Not running, just a reasonably brisk walk? If you can manage that each day for a week, it is a given that...
A. Each day becomes noticably easier and
B. The following week you will be able to do more.
I know it's a common saying, but these things do not happen overnight. It takes effort and time to work into them. I'm 70yo, and can walk 6ks easy. Not fast, but steady. I've always hated running. My biggest hurdle is mental. I just need to determine to get out there. Once I do, I love it. I feel unbelievably good after a good walk. It's chemical. And I'm sure my body is thanking me for it. I just need to do it more often. :)

I'm a little overweight and I got covid recently and barely noticed any illness. I think it's a matter of genetics with covid, not so much your weight. I used to weight lift and was very fit and strong until I got on psych meds. Now I just go for walks and don't loose much weight. But weight lifting actually makes you gain weight. And you can eat as much as you want of certain foods to increase your muscle mass.

I would suggest that that while your heart is in the right place regarding health and the things you quote, the fact is that the bible tells us how to live. Not to go by stats of the medical world which is under Satan.

God gave us what meats we should eat (Leviticus 11)
No matter what "they" say, compare to the bible. The bible gives answers to whether or not:
1) the sun is bad for you or not
2) if salt is bad for you or not
3) whether saturated fat is bad for you or not
4) and even late breaking news where they say that DHA vs EPA omega 6's are antagonistic or not. I've proven (by the bible) that this statement is false....
and much more. And that's just nutrition. The worldly "advice" is constantly bombarding us and with the bible most times we can prove them wrong. Look to our Father's Word for answers.

You omitted a couple of other factors: (1) the people most at risk of death were over 85 years old, and (2) deaths from bogus vaccines FAR EXCEEDED deaths from (not with) COVID 19. And had ivermectin and HCQ not bee DELIBERATELY SABOTAGED by the medical establishment, there could have been zero COVID deaths and absolutely no need for vaccines!

Getting back to a healthy lifestyle, there is no question that proper diet, exercise, rest, and absence of stress will prolong life. In some parts of the world, living to 100 is no big deal.

Dr. B. I want to add helpings of happiness to my diet as you implied is even Biblical, and still lose a kilo or two as you also prescribe. Can I do both concurrently though? I think that would be hard for me.

I would like to add 5 or 6 servings of veges or fruits per day to max. out my happiness factor of 500 -800 added calories to eating 500 cal. less of other food stuff per day. That would be 500 to 800 - 500 cals = 300 cal. gain to zero cal. loss. I think I would be unhappy if I did that Doc I will just cut down on the happiness stuff then....LOL:D

You do have two good formulae here for weight loss...:)

The thing is this. I love ice cream. Not the local made rubbish one gets here in Australia, but true NZ full creamy fruity ice cream...tip top. Trouble is to get it here doubles the cost. It is available, but it's 3 times the price of the local made. Now one might think that such stats and truths would assist in making the giving up of such fattening decadent desserts much easier. It doesn't. :(

That would be a lot of veggies! Let's say a serving is 3 ounces. So that would be almost a pound of vegetables.

That is one thing I REALLY miss not being in New Zealand again, since 2007, that beautiful inviting, tasty, delectable and delicious Kiwi creamy ice cream. There's nothing like it in the world. Why cannot they copy it...it must be the animals, the cows (non-doped up), the type grass, the air, the water, the entire natural elements that cannot be copied anywhere.
