Only with believers--not with unbelievers. Satan couldn't do anything to Job without getting God's permission first, and he could only do what God allowed him to do. God forbid him to kill Job. Also, we cannot be possessed as unsaved people can. Believers have the Holy Spirit living within them. Also, we are in Christ, and He is in the Father. You can't get any more secure than that! I have no fear of satan.

How can you explain those believers that carry spirits of depression, generational curses, spirits of opression, are these not considered demon possesions, that with deliverance and prayer need to be cast out. Only reason why I question your response is because, I have witnessed a believer friend who underwent this deliverence procedure. She now walks free from these spirits, but was a believer, before this deliverance. And she was filled with the Holy Spirit.

How can a person be Spirit-filled and "demon" possessed at the same time? No, I cannot accept that. For a devil to enter a person who is born again, he would have to be more powerful than God.

and perhaps the person gives the permission by the life they lead.. alchohol isn't called spirits for nothing... and even the temper you let flare and get away from you instead of selfcontrol are gates we open wide for satan to enter into everyday... Not only God can allow satan, usually when he does it for a lesson learned or even to lead you to something you would not look at otherwise... but you can allow satan in you life and your home.

While we ARE filled with the Holy Spirit, that doesn't mean that we are not susceptable to Satan's minions, who create depression, opression, & all the rest.The question comes down to this:Are we going to LET these evil spirits influence us, or are we going to put our trust in Christ when we experience what these spirits are throwing at us?We CHOOSE to let these spirits opress us, when we do not trust Christ to help us deal with them. And the results of this are often catostrophic!Bill:)

Unfortunately, bad things happen to everyone. Christians lose loved ones, lose jobs, lose their health, sometimes even lose their minds (I'm still looking for mine). Seriously though, none of us have any answers to life's problems except to say that Jesus Christ IS the answer. We have opinions, thoughts and ideas, but we're often wrong. Well, at least I am anyway.I have suffered from depression in the past when things didn't go my way. I considered suicide when my wife left me and took our daughter, but I'm still here and got over it. If a person is "possessed" by an evil spirit, then that person is not born again since born again people are indwelt by the Holy Spirit.Satan and his hoard of minions can influence our thinking just as he did to Eve by causing her to doubt what God had said. He still does that and gives us doubts about God's goodness and whether or not He has our best interest in mind.I cannot be possessed by an evil spirit, but I can be influenced by one. Satan can work very effectively from the outside, although I'm sure he does his worst from inside a person.

There is a huge difference in being, Possessed, and Oppressed.Christians, cannot be Possessed, but can be oppressed.What be comes a new creature when we get saved?Our spirit man! But Our Sou( mind,emotions,and intellect) and Our bodies, can be affected by demons.Look at:I John 5:18We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.

The Holy Spirit fills us. Has everyone thought this through? Where does it fill us? obviously not in some space. So, then, HOW does it fill us? It teaches us, it comforts us, it fills our lives. It writes the Holy Word on our hearts. That's how it fills us. Is this an activity which is mutually exclusive with possession? Possession is a spirit manipulating and plaguing the body. Oppression is a spirit plaguing the person. Either one can occur to Christians.Belial can do nothing against God's absolute will, but always comes against his complete will. These are different.Belial can plague people. Spirits can manipulate a believers body and an unbelievers body. This has nothing to do with being 'filled with the Holy Spirit'.

While I believe we can be plagued from without by an evil spirit, if we are born again then we have the Holy Spirit within us. NO evil spirit can ENTER us with the Holy Spirit in us. They can torment and plague us with sinful thoughts and desires, but ONLY if they get God's permission first. There is a constant battle going on within us as it is, but not because we have both an evil spirit and the Holy Spirit in us at the same time. That just cannot happen. The battle within us is our selfish, sinful will fighting against God's will and NOT an evil spirit fighting the Holy Spirit.

You are confusing yourself.An evil spirit being physically "inside us" so to speak, is quite a separate thing from the Holy Spirit being in us and with us. The Holy Spirit isn't in your body, it's In your life. It is with your inmost being as a lasting and faithful witness for you.A Demon manipulating your body has nothing to do with your inmost being.

Nothing is that simple. Matthew 17:19-21 {variant manuscript reading}

Well, actually, I think you're confused, but then it's all a matter of personal belief isn't it? The Holy Spirit is not an "it", and He does dwell WITHIN the believer. In the Old Testament days He came upon people temporarily, but that changed on the Day of Pentecost when we were given the Holy Spirit to be our Comfortable.
