From what I know there's Archangels,Seraphim,Cherubim, and angels. Is there a way to rank them? The Bible says lucifer was an annointed Cherub. So that must be up in the ranks,is that higher than an Archangel or are they the same?

Yes there is hierarchy different Angles seem to perform different Jobs, offices if you willSatan is an Archangel the most beautiful perfect, knowledgeble God ever created he was made the full pattern. When he is called the anointed Cherubim in Gen. it is not because he is a Cherub. Cherubim as far as what we know could be called Guardians, watchers and or messangers notice they guard the gate of Eden after the fall they also guard the Arc. Satan(the archangle) was appointed to watch /guard over the Eden /earth (before his fall) thus he fulfilled the office of a cherub but he was not a cherb by creation. So when it says he was the anoited Cheribum. It is really saying Satan was choosen to fufill an officeArchangels are among the highest forms of angels

Cherubim are those that guard the throne. The ark comes to mind. Interestingly enough, there are only two of them and I think this has to deal very much with Satan. The three big angels are Michael, Gabriel, and Lucifer. Obviously, one of those is no longer around. These three are/were archangels so I would equate the two from what we know in Scripture. They are also of the seraphim.Scriptural Documentation for the seraphim can be found in Isaiah 6. It's obvious that they guard the throne just as the cherubim do.

Wikepeada discribes him as this for one I will give you more when I have timeLucifer is usually a fallen angel identified as Satan, the embodiment of evil and enemy of God. In Christian literature and legend, Lucifer is generally considered to have been a prominent archangel in heaven (although some sources[citation needed] say he was a cherub or a seraph), who had been motivated by pride to lead a revolution against God, in "The War of Heaven". When the rebellion failed, Lucifer was cast out of heaven, along with a third of the heavenly host, and came to reside in the world.

Funny how God makes things work out. I was 3 hours early to my drivers ed appointment. And I was sitting at their couch. God bless them, they were so kind. And much to my surprise, all of what was to the left of me were library shelfs full of Christian books. I asked a lady if I could read a few books, and she said I certainly could. One book in particular caught my eye. It was a book dedicated entirely about angles. It spoke about how they looked and what they did. Also mentioned what type of angels there are. Some facts:* Angels don't have wings.* They aren't all knowing as God is.* They were created to see the entire creation.* Lucifer, Michael and Gabriel are/were the three archangels (highest ranking angels).* Michael will be the angel to declare war on Lucifer.* Angels may appear to curtain selected people. So you can see them, and others can't.* It is believed a trained eye could detect an angel.* All of the above is true with demons (fallen angels).* When angels usually talk to you, all they tell you are "Hurry up", "Get up", "Get Going", and "Watch Out".* Angels are immune to things like fire.

14Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire. 15Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee. 16By the multitude of thy merchandise they have filled the midst of thee with violence, and thou hast sinned: therefore I will cast thee as profane out of the mountain of God: and I will destroy thee, O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire.

A. Ezek 28:12-17 “You were the model of perfection, full of wisdom and perfect in beauty. 13 You were in Eden, the garden of God; every precious stone adorned you: ruby, topaz and emerald, chrysolite, onyx and jasper, sapphire, turquoise and beryl. Your settings and mountings were made of gold; on the day you were created they were prepared. 14 You were anointed as a guardian cherub, for so I ordained you. You were on the holy mount of God; you walked among the fiery stones. 15 You were blameless in your ways from the day you were created till wickedness was found in you. 16 Through your widespread trade you were filled with violence, and you sinned. So I drove you in disgrace from the mount of God, and I expelled you, O guardian cherub, from among the fiery stones. 17 Your heart became proud on account of your beauty, and you corrupted your wisdom because of your splendor. So I threw you to the earth; I made a spectacle of you before kings.” NIV1. Satan was made perfectly. He had the perfect beauty and was full of wisdom.2. He was a guardian cherub, the highest position possible in heaven.3. He was in a perfect sinless environment.4. One day “wickedness was found in” him.5. That wickedness led to rebellion and he sinned.6. Pride was the cause of his sin. His beauty made him vain.7. He was expelled on earth, to become a “spectacle” before kings. It is clear here that God did not create Lucifer in order for him to sin. He was sinless. He was in a sinless environment. He had everything possible that he desired. However his beauty led to his downfall and pride filled him “with wickedness”, causing him to sin.B. Isa 14:12-14 “How you have fallen from heaven, O morning star, son of the dawn! You have been cast down to the earth, you who once laid low the nations! 13 You said in your heart, "I will ascend to heaven; I will raise my throne above the stars of God; I will sit enthroned on the mount of assembly, on the utmost heights of the sacred mountain. 14 I will ascend above the tops of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High." NIV1. Lucifer was banished to earth once he rebelled against God.2. His sin was pride: he wanted to be like God!C. Rev 12:7-9 “And there was war in heaven. Michael and his angels fought against the dragon, and the dragon and his angels fought back. 8 But he was not strong enough, and they lost their place in heaven. 9 The great dragon was hurled down-that ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, who leads the whole world astray. He was hurled to the earth, and his angels with him.” NIV1. Lucifer caused war in heaven.2. He was not alone in this. Many angels joined his rank. Sin is catchy!3. Lucifer and his angels were banished on this world.4. He led astray “the whole world”.The purpose of God for creating Lucifer was not for sinning, but to be “a guardian cherub”. He had no reason to sin. He was perfectly beautiful and had everything he could dream of. His whole environment was sinless! However pride rose in his heart and he paid attention to that “wickedness”. This led him to his rebellion against God and to his original sin of wanting to be like God. The sin came from himself. Nobody influenced him to rebel. There was no external temptation for him to sin. However he influenced angels to rebel and join his ranks. God being love gave him as well as us the freedom of choice. However choice means that we need to accept the consequences of our choices as well!
That explains it. Maybe Lucifer was a Cherub when he persuaded Eve to eat from the Tree of Knowledge.About angels, read this: http://www.faqs.org/faqs/judaism/FAQ/06-Je...section-14.html

Notice it What it says you (Satan) were appointed (what does appointed mean?) as a Guardian Cherbium (is pluarl form) it dosent say Lucifer is or was created a Cherub. It says you(Lucifer) you were choosen/(appointed /crowned/elected ) as Cherbium in this is plural form meaning more than one, he was appointed one of the guardians/watchers Satan (named Satanel in the Book of Enoch) is considered a fallen archangel whose original name was Lucifer.[6]Lucifer is generally considered to have been a prominent archangelLucifer may also be of the Seraphim as he is mentioned sometimes in that group of Angels also as Denver said. But Cherubs appear to NOT to be Seraphim or Archangels but Lucifer is only refered to as an anointed (appointed or crowned to hold the office of a cherb) not as being one. Although Lucifer is most commonly called a archangel, Seraphim in some ways biblically fits some other aspects of Satan (Lucifer)in that, Seraphim are seemly of human type form and are often the messengers between Heaven and earth It appears there is no contradiction in being both Seraphim and Archangel, As Michael is known both.but as you can see below Cherubim are quite different creaturesthat niether fit the character nor descripton of Lucifer. Lucifer had free will to become prideful with.We are told Satan walked to and fro upon the earth leading us to know he has/or can take a human form this is consistent with both Seraphim and archangles, but Not cheribim as they seem to be a type of composite figure, With specific duties they could perform. No where are cherbuim refered to in human form or ever having free willAll this shows that Lucifer held a title of the office of a Cherub, but was NOT created as a cherub Lucifer is indeed a Archangle and/or Seraphim.SMITH BIBLE DICTIONARYSatan- The whole description of his power implies spiritual nature and spiritual influence. We conclude therefore that he was of angelic nature, a rational and spiritual creature, superhuman in power, wisdom and energy; and not only so, but an archangel, one of the "princes" of heaven. Seraphim: an order of celestial beings, whom Isaiah beheld in vision standing above Jehovah as he sat upon his throne. (Isaiah 6:2) They are described as having each of them three pairs of wings, with one of which they covered their faces (a token of humility); with the second they covered their feet (a token of respect); while with the third they flew. They seem to have borne a general resemblance to the human figure. ver. 6. Their occupation was two fold to celebrate the praises of Jehovah's holiness and power, ver. 3 and to act as the medium of communication between heaven and earth. ver. 6..........Wikiepedea:A seraph (Hebrew שׂרף, plural שׂרפים Seraphim) is one of a class of celestial beings mentioned once in the Hebrew Bible (Tanakh or Old Testament), in Isaiah. Later Jewish imagery perceived them as having human form, and in that way they passed into the ranks of Christian angels. In the Christian angelic hierarchy, seraphim represent the highest known rank of angels. There are only three angels in the canonized Greek and Hebrew Bible mentioned by name: Michael (who is described as the archangel), Gabriel, and LuciferSmith's Cherub, Cherubim: The symbolical figure so called was a composite creature-form which finds a parallel in the religious insignia of Assyria, Egypt and Persia, e.g. the sphinx, the winged bulls and lions of Nineveh, etc. A cherub guarded paradise. (Genesis 3:24) Figures of Cherubim were placed on the mercy-seat of the ark. (Exodus 25:18) A pair of colossal size overshadowed it in Solomon's temple with the canopy of their contiguously extended wings. (1 Kings 6:27) Those on the ark were to be placed with wings stretched forth, one at each end of the mercy-seat." Their wings were to be stretched upwards, and their faces "towards each other and towards the mercy-seat." It is remarkable that with such precise directions as to their position, attitude and material, nothing, save that they were winged, is said concerning their shape. On the whole it seems likely that the word "cherub" meant not only the composite creature-form, of which the man, lion, ox and eagle were the elements, but, further, some peculiar and mystical form. (Some suppose that the cherubim represented God's providence among men, the four faces expressing the characters of that providence: its wisdom and intelligence (man), its strength (ox), its kingly authority (lion), its swiftness, far-sighted (eagle). Others, combining all the other references with the description of the living creatures in Revelation, make the cherubim to represent God's redeemed people. The qualities of the four faces are those which belong to God's people. Their facing four ways, towards all quarters of the globe, represents their duty of extending the truth. The wings show swiftness of obedience; and only the redeemed can sing the song put in their mouths in (Revelation 5:8-14) --ED). From strongs Bible concordanceCherub,Cherubim Strongs word Number 37421) cherub, cherubim (pl)a) an angelic being1) as guardians of Eden2) as flanking God's throne3) as an image form hovering over the Ark of the Covenant4) as the chariot of Jehovah (fig.)
