Is the purpose of the Bible to introduce us to God (1 Thessalonians 5:17), or is the purpose of the Bible to beat people over the heads with?
Who's beating anyone over the head with the Bible? Is this some kind of misdirection? There are many purposes for the Bible, the primary one being to have all men know that God loves them and Christ died for their sins and rose again for their justification.

If by "internalize" you mean have the Word brought to Life within us, then you would be right...

From what then comes that quickening, but by the Holy Spirit? Is this not why Apostle admonished us not to quench the Spirit?
I think of the Bible almost like a new "DNA". God's communicated thoughts have the ability to overwrite the design of my mind. I read it and listen to it over and over and over. Being semi-Autistic helps in that regard. I can stay focused.

I've found that the massive repetition results in 2 things, one being that when I hear something taught, the verses that apply are there, the other being that as I think about things, I do that in the ways the Bible expresses similar thoughts.

The Holy Spirit makes me alive in Christ, that's something He does, I do not do, but I listen intently to His voice that it can rule over my mind.

Much love!

Some people believe all of Paul's opinions are correct. I think occasionally he was wrong.

The question is then, are Paul's letters Paul's words or God's Word? I say God's Word, and God is never wrong. Otherwise, how do you differentiate what is true and what is not? I'm actually wondering, that's not rhetorical.

Much love!

The purpose of the Bible is to testify of Jesus, Who is eternal life (John 5:39, Luke 24:27).

And sometimes your words are also God's Word, my friend. This would be true anytime you are in the Spirit and being led completely by the Spirit in what you are saying.

Love this, Mark!

You have to have a Bible-shaped filter in your head these days.

The YouVersion Bible app has a chronological reading plan that I love. If you listen to 12 readings per day, you can hear the whole Bible in just a month. I have to turn up the playback speed to about 1.5X to be able to concentrate for some reason. Well, I suspect it's because my mind doesn't have time to wander if the information is coming faster. (Also, I can usually get 12 readings done in under 2 hours.) Anyway, it's awesome and you can go through the entire Bible 12 times per year. They have narration for several translations and with several narrator voices. I'm really hooked on the NIV Anglicised-Dramatized narration.

I wish James Earl Jones would narrate the Old Testament. Patrick Stewart would be another good voice. Vincent Price would have been excellent. Laurence Olivier, Richard Burton, Max Von Sydow, Humphrey Bogart, Claude Rains, John Huston, Walter Huston. They could AI this stuff. I mean, if Fred Astaire could dance with a vacuum cleaner 25 years ago, come on! Somebody needs to get on the ball!

The written word is the beginning of all truth, first manifest by the Spirit on tablets, then on hearts. First to the flesh, then to the Spirit.
"And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth." John 1:14

And then...

"That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;
And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;
And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness." Eph 4:22-24

clearly they dont, otherwise they’d have better theology.
That's very cool. What good is good theology, if total depravity and unconditional election have one convinced they're lost? Not worth a nickel. Tinkling cymbal stuff. You'd better smarten up and repent. That's not judgment or condemnation, either. It's an appeal based upon your own testimony. You're dartin' around here tellin' everybody how to believe when you claim to be wicked, which indicates that Daniel 12:10 declares you to be a false teacher.

“Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand!” (Matthew 3:2)

That is an noteworthy and interesting statement to consider.

Not--regarding you personally, but with regard to the countless numbers of those who look at salvation in this way...when salvation is not to take days and weeks and years, but should be "today"--and finished:

2 Corinthians 6:2
For He says: “In an acceptable time I have heard you, And in the day of salvation I have helped you.” Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.
'Don't put off until tomorrow what you can do today.'

Standing up for what I think is right - that women should have equal rights.
Bob,

They do have equal rights--that is before God. But don't discredit Paul for his part, for what he said was regarding unruly women. But he was no male chauvinist...one need only look at his other writings to know this.

However, that is not the reason Paul's correction of those women of that time and circumstance has been entered into the eternal word of God. If we only look at the historic moment--Paul was simply a leader making a hard call. But in the eternal context--it is not Paul making the hard call--it's God. It is God who has since adopted the words for their eternal benefit as being applicable [equally] to men and to women--not just those women, but all women that make up the body of Christ, the Church, the "Bride." Therefore the word is addressed to women--but is equally given to men.

you dont see what you’re doing, do you?
You think its perfectly fine to say that paul is wrong, that the Bible is wrong.
This has nothing to do with equal rights, its about the role of men and women. Men are the head of household. They are the protectors of the family, they are the supporters of the family. Women are child bearers, they manage the household to include the kids. No one is saying women arent equal, its about their roles.

women are not to teach men, thats not their roles. If you dont like that, and think your view is right and that paul is wrong, you also dont seem to understand your role in this. We are not to question anything the Bible says as true or not, but we also should understand the context of it. Instead of believing that paul is wrong, you should be asking why did paul say that? In what context did he say it? We are to learn from the Bible, and you cant do that by questioning if its wrong or not.
I guess he thinks men should be able to have babies too...you know, equal rights and all.......I'm sure he must approve of LGBT as well by his logic.

If I were a betting man, I’d wager that YOU were the one that was Wrong.......Peter said that even though Paul was “ hard to understand ” , everything contained in his letters were Holy- Spirit inspired and “ The Equal To Anything Found In Scripture”.....

I guess you figure that Scripture is “ occasionally wrong” and it is up to guys like you to pick and choose what is the Holy Spirit got “ Right” and what The Holy Spirit got “ Wrong”....

Please enlighten us to what Paul and the Holy Spirit that guided him got Wrong.....thanking you in advance....
I know I have been wrong from time to time. I doubt Paul claimed to be perfect. Remember the verse about the mirror - we see far away, then we see up close - words to that affect? Wasn't Paul admitting here he didn't know all things yet?
