Just to clarify, I don't believe in Socialism. It's just another form of government of men.

Yeah you do, because that's what you've been pushing.

The only way is to walk in the love of God, in submission to him. Community according to the Spirit can do this.

No nation is according to the Spirit, all follow money and power, whether socialist, capitalist, or whatever-ist,

Do you find that word "Community" anywhere in God's Word? Nope. Where does that idea come from as used today? From Socialists applied a specific way. The early Christians helped each other with their needs, but they were told to work or that they should not eat, and those in need were not to receive more than needed so as to not burden those who had more. But Socialism over-burdens those who work, giving it to those who refuse to work, which is STEALING per God's Word.

You're very wrong about the idea of nations too. God does not just rebuke individuals, but nations too, even as shown by what He did to His Own chosen nation of Israel because of their rebellions against Him. But were all of Israel guilty of rebellion? Nope, yet the innocent suffered along with the rest of the nation, though God still preserved those.

Veteran,

You have an extreme view of everything including socialism and YOU are the brianwashed one. You are a totally biased, over the edge right wing victim of brainwashing. You have no middle of the road. What you have to realize is that Capitalism has inroads all over the world in socialism and communism. You guys like to complain but it's US that's in debt to China, a Communist country. It's ludicrous for you to complain when the rich and powerful are making billions in profits with Socialist and Communist conntries and that's ok right? Capitalism has it's inroads in socialist, communist, and in all forms of government. Socialism would be a blessing to America. It's uncontrolled Capitalism that has caused the financial crisis the world is in today and it has created a host of war profiteers.

I think we've gotten too far off the subject of this thread. I will post a rebuttal to this in the Politics section.

But in short answer to that, Capitalists in the West are who started Communism and Socialism by funded it. Leo Trotsky left New York to foment the Russian revolution of 1917, and he was given funds to do it, which can be documented.

How many friends of innocent people died because we bombed Afghans,Iraqis, etc, citizens, innocent people?

I make no judgments as to who is what.

But if we think we North Americans who kill innocent people in the name of... Democracy... Or Jesus... Or peace, are justified, then we have fooled ourselves. We justify our killing of innocent lives, yet we get SOOO angry when an american is killed.

I'm not pointing this directly at anyone here. But there is much wrong doing and justification of self going on in the American nation, and much in the name of Christ. Yet America is NOT God's favorite.

I think you are on the right track, brother, but I also think that American attitudes are far worse than you graciously portray.

Americans today are filled with a militaristic nationalistic blood lust that goes beyond all reason and justification. The pity is that the church is responsible for it. Why? The church has been appointed by God to be the conscience of society. Today that conscience is seared and dead.

Attend any church for any length of time and you will inevitably witness a spectacle of support for the flag, the warriors and American national policy. The church now supports, if not by active measure then by indifference, all manner of torture, unjust imprisonment, murder and destruction of property both foreign and domestic. Secret prisons remain where individuals are locked away for indefinite periods of time. There is no justice for them. Guilty or not they deserve trial. They do NOT deserve torture despite the united States being a signee of the Geneva Convention which forbids it. It seems that Americans are ok with torturing a man as long as he wears brown skin and has a Muslim name. Justice doesn't enter into it.

The American church puts it's stamp of approval on the military. The military can murder innocent unarmed men, women and children with impunity. Their actions remain unquestioned and unpunished. Every sort of war crime has been committed by the American military while American Christians continue to support the military without question. The nationalistic fetish for blood lust in the church has become more foul than any sexual deviation. It is a stench that fills the nostrils of God.

Ever wonder why there has been NO great revival in America for decades? Can the church really express a concern for the eternal salvation of men's eternal souls while approving of torture murder and invasion of foreign lands without just cause. God will never honor such hypocrisy. NEVER.

In fact, He will punish it.

If God does not judge America, He will have to apologize to Sodom and Gomorrah.

I think those attitudes are pathetic. Radical Islamic extremists have been attacking the U.S. and western nations since the 1980's. Even Arafat was originally a plane hijacker in the 1970's!

And when the twin towers in N.Y. went down, Islamic peoples not directly involved were cheering publically. So for anyone who sides with all that, especially a westerner, they show their stupidity.

Tis sad Veteran, I wish those who display this attitude would just leave and go live in the middle east. Truth is they are just idle complainers full of selfish entitlement. God bless America!

If you're older than he is, then you have even less excuse for your ignorance about Socialism being an anti-Christian and anti-God doctrine.

Veteran,

You and I are about the same age and we are both Vietnam era veterans. I just don't pride myself like you do about it.

Like I said. You are one very misled, mis-informed or un-informed, brainwashed over the edge right wing nut! You have no middle of the road and have nothing good to say about the beliefs of others because they are opposed to your extremist views.

You have no clue about the systemic evils of Capitalism and have no clue about the good in others. You're just like nearly every other republican I know. Misled and deceived by people like Limbaugh, Hannity and the like of Fox News.

You are the ignorant one because you are biased, fall for the lies of the right, and are an extremist, and just a plain old political num-skull!

Not only am I PROUD of my service for my country, but I'm also VERY PROUD for all my brethren and sisters that served then, and those who serve today, ESPECIALLY THOSE WHO VOLUNTEERED AS I DID, and of my father who served as U.S. combat Marine in the Pacific in WWII, and my grandfathers who served in the Civil War, and in the American Revolution!!! Our family hates tyranny and we love... freedom.

You're all mixed up and just not using common sense. Out of one corner of your mouth you claim you don't condemn America, then out of the other corner you claim Americans are not Christians, WHICH IS A CONDEMNATION.

The majority of the American peoples still... are Christian. So I don't know where you got the idea that I ever said they were not. Sounds like you're mind is being subjected to 'another spirit' other than that of Christ. I never raised any such issue of "fair game" either.

You are having some difficulty understanding the young man. He's not condemning America. He's simply stating that we are not the Christian nation you think we are!

You say that the majority of American's are still Christian! That may be true as far as numbers go but most people who claim Christianity do so by name only and not by an affiliation to Christ. As far as the general conduct of the people and of our elected officials go we are no better than anyone else!

My family also has a long military background. I just don't see any reason to boast about it.

Your pride has dumbfounded your ability to think rationally. The only legitimate war of my lifetime was WW2. All the others were the rich and powerful profiteering at the expense of their youth. Just as they are today in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Your politics and military stance is all foolishness to me. That's the kind of mindset people like George Bush had in sending America's youth into two illegitimate wars over a terror attack that occured on our own soil! He was one of the most hated people in the world during his presidency. And I bet you were a Bush lover!

Brother, I do not condemn America, but I do see that it's ways lead to perdition.

And hey, you said they were Christian, so if that's true, they're fair game!
...

I don't believe I ever said the United States is fully comprised of Christians. However (and I don't believe I've stated this before), I will assert that this nation was founded upon Christian principles.

But I don't think you're here to reason, -- but rather to debate. And you're presently not debating honestly.

To All,

I would be the first one to consider the plight of mankind. He is base in sin, and without merit. His actions have already yielded a judgment by water, and a soon coming judgment by fire. And where some some nations have greater sin, so too I would anticipate the greater judgments. Toward that, one might consider the historical record of murdering:

Greater communism -- 110 million, with Stalin himself responsible for 43 of the 110 million.

But the liberal mantra is how evil democracies are. And so we see the United States under assault by those who are duped, and those who directly are deceivers.

Good. You finally figured out there's people here aligned with Communist-Socialist doctrine that really aren't here to edify American Christians as brethren, but to espouse their hatred of all the American peoples, which is Communist-Socialist doctrine, a doctrine that has hated the wealth that God has blessed His people in America with for a long, long time.

There's much to cover about the Assyrian. This is just a quick summary of a few of those verses. I'll do my best to cover the rest in my replies.
Isaiah 10, 14 and 30 and Micah 5 are some of the most neglected of all end-time prophecies. There are so many places where the anti-christ is called the 'Assyrian' that we shouldn't disregard it. However, it has been neglected due to the overwhelming number of 'experts' who claim the anti-christ would be a Roman or European.

Benjamin Newton in his book "Aids to the Study of Prophetic Inquiry" written in 1859, predicted that the "true antichrist of the New Testament should arise from the same Babylon" that Nebuchadnezzar and Antiochus Epiphanes rose from.
Finis Dake, Arthur Pink, E.W Bullinger, and Benjamin Newton all believed that the antichrist would be an Assyrian.

The Millennium, Israel, and the future anti-christ are the main topics of Isaiah 14.

Isaiah 14:1 ¶For the LORD will have mercy on Jacob, and will yet choose Israel, and set them in their own land: and the strangers shall be joined with them, and they shall cleave to the house of Jacob.
2 And the people shall take them, and bring them to their place: and the house of Israel shall possess them in the land of the LORD for servants and handmaids: and they shall take them captives, whose captives they were; and they shall rule over their oppressors.
3 And it shall come to pass in the day that the LORD shall give thee rest from thy sorrow, and from thy fear, and from the hard bondage wherein thou wast made to serve,

Verses 1-3 tell us that God will yet chose Israel and set them in their own land and many gentiles will be converted and joined with Israel and serve them. The gentiles will help bring Israel home and Israel will 'posses' the gentiles in the land of Israel and become servants and handmaids. The Israelites will take captive those who once took them captive. In v.2 Israel will rule over their oppressors (nations against Israel) and the king of Babylon is described as Israel's oppressor.

Verse 3 says, " it shall come to pass in the day". What day? In the day of the second advent of Christ. V. 3 indicates that, "The LORD shall give thee (Israel) rest from their sorrow, fear, and from the hard bondage, wherein thou wast made to serve. Israel has never been given rest from the Lord. They have never possessed the gentiles in Israel or made them servants. And Israel has never ruled over their oppressors. This chapter is certainly talking about the Millennial kingdom.

Isaiah 14:4 ¶That thou shalt take up this proverb against the king of Babylon, and say, How hath the oppressor ceased! the golden city ceased!
Israel will rejoice and sing a funeral song about their triumph over the Assyrian anti-christ. I think it's clear that this entire passage is future and can only be fulfilled during the Millennium. The Assyrian is also called the king of Babylon!

Isaiah 14:5-6 declares that the anti-christ is destroyed.

Verse 7-8 is clearly a millenial passage because at no time in the past has the whole earth been at rest. Even the cedars and fir trees rejoice!

Isaiah 14:9-11 says that the occupants of hell are moved to meet him when he arrives. Even the chief ones and kings of the nations are moved at his coming! They tell him, "Art thou also become weak as we? Art thou become like unto us? Thy pomp is brought down to the grave, and the noise of thy viols: the worm is spread under thee, and the worms cover thee. The anti-christ is DEAD!

Isaiah 14:12-15 The king of Babylon i.e. the Assyrian is taunted and likened to Lucifer.
Isaiah 14:16-20 there is more taunting of the anti-christ by the nations.
Isaiah 14:21-23 Babylon is left desolate.
Isaiah 14:24-27 The Lord makes an oath to destroy the anti-christ! The Assyrian is broken in Israel, his yoke removed and the burden departs from Israel. Daniel says that the anti-christ will not be destroyed by human hands and that's in accord with V.25 about the Assyrian!
25 That I will break the Assyrian in my land, and upon my mountains tread him under foot: then shall his yoke depart from off them, and his burden depart from off their shoulders.
26 This is the purpose that is purposed upon the whole earth: and this is the hand that is stretched out upon all the nations.

Isaiah says "be not afraid of the Assyrian."
This again is future because of "the anointing." Read it and look at the similarities to chapter 14.

Isaiah 10:24 ¶Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD of hosts, O my people that dwellest in Zion, be not afraid of the Assyrian: he shall smite thee with a rod, and shall lift up his staff against thee, after the manner of Egypt.
25 For yet a very little while, and the indignation shall cease, and mine anger in their destruction.
26 And the LORD of hosts shall stir up a scourge for him according to the slaughter of Midian at the rock of Oreb: and as his rod was upon the sea, so shall he lift it up after the manner of Egypt.
27 And it shall come to pass in that day, that his burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing.

Now read Isaiah 30:27-32. This is the Day of the Lord where he beats down (not up) the Assyrian.
Isaiah 30:27 ¶Behold, the name of the LORD cometh from far, burning with his anger, and the burden thereof is heavy: his lips are full of indignation, and his tongue as a devouring fire:

28 And his breath, as an overflowing stream, shall reach to the midst of the neck, to sift the nations with the sieve of vanity: and there shall be a bridle in the jaws of the people, causing them to err.

29 Ye shall have a song, as in the night when a holy solemnity is kept; and gladness of heart, as when one goeth with a pipe to come into the mountain of the LORD, to the mighty One of Israel.

30 And the LORD shall cause his glorious voice to be heard, and shall shew the lighting down of his arm, with the indignation of his anger, and with the flame of a devouring fire, with scattering, and tempest, and hailstones.

31 For through the voice of the LORD shall the Assyrian be beaten down, which smote with a rod.
The Assyrian anti-christ.

Jesus Christ will only rule at the millennium after Israel is restored.

Micah 5:3-6 Therefore will he give them up, until the time that she which travaileth hath brought forth: then the remnant of his brethren shall return unto the children of Israel. (The remnant of Jesus brethren; Israel restored)

4 And he shall stand and feed in the strength of the LORD, in the majesty of the name of the LORD his God; and they shall abide: for now shall he be great unto the ends of the earth. (Jesus now reigns on earth)

Jesus will rule only after the Assyrian treads upon Israel's palaces.

5 And this man shall be the peace, when the Assyrian shall come into our land: and when he shall tread in our palaces, then shall we raise against him seven shepherds, and eight principal men.

Daniel 11:44 But tidings out of the east and out of the north shall trouble him: therefore he shall go forth with great fury to destroy, and utterly to make away many.
45 And he shall plant the tabernacles of his palace between the seas in the glorious holy mountain; yet he shall come to his end, and none shall help him.

Israel destroys the Assyrian's own land, the land of Nimrod, after he treads within Israel's borders.

6 And they shall waste the land of Assyria with the sword, and the land of Nimrod in the entrances thereof: thus shall he deliver us from the Assyrian, when he cometh into our land, and when he treadeth within our borders.

Ninevah was the capital city of Assyria and located in "Ashur" or Northern Iraq.
Nimrod founded Babylon and built the tower of Babel. Genesis 10:8-11. (This is where I believe the antichrist will come from.)

The Lord cannot finish his work upon mount zion or on Jerusalem until he returns. And then he will punish the king of Assyria. Therefore, this can't be an ancient king of Assyria. It has to be a future king of Assyria!

Isaiah 10:12 Wherefore it shall come to pass, that when the Lord hath performed his whole work upon mount Zion and on Jerusalem, I will punish the fruit of the stout heart of the king of Assyria, and the glory of his high looks.

It's the voice of the Lord that beats down the Assyrian. Not another army.

Isaiah 30:31 For through the voice of the LORD shall the Assyrian be beaten down, which smote with a rod.

The Assyrian is the rod of God's anger against Israel.

Isaiah 10:5 ¶O Assyrian, the rod of mine anger, and the staff in their hand is mine indignation.

6 I will send him against an hypocritical nation, and against the people of my wrath will I give him a charge, to take the spoil, and to take the prey, and to tread them down like the mire of the streets.

7 Howbeit he meaneth not so, neither doth his heart think so; but it is in his heart to destroy and cut off nations not a few.

According to verse seven, I have to agree with another author who says that the antichrist may not even know he is the antichrist!

Antiochus Epiphanes never ruled Babylon at any time. So how the author could argue that, because he did, he, then, must be seen as the "Assyrian" is just poor scholarship...Moreover, you quote Isa. 10:24 "Therefore thus saith the Lord of hosts, O my people that dwellest in Zion, be not afraid of the Assyrian: he shall smite thee with a rod, and shall lift up his staff against thee, after the manner of Egypt." Why you chose to change "Assyrians" to "Assyrian" is difficult for me to understand? Isaiah wrote during the final years of the Assyrian Empire's expansion into Israel and Canaan. Here Isaiah is merely speaking about the "Assyrians" who will oppress Israel (smite thee with a rod) like the Egyptians did centuries earlier. And history has shown how accurate this prophecy was, as Assyria moved ten Hebrew tribes out of the northern country of Israel and took them back to Assyria where they were lost to history (The Ten Lost Tribes of Israel)...Given the facts of history, how you or anyone could view this as a end time prophecy about the Antichrist is difficult to understand?...In this prophecy the "Assyrians" were, indeed, the "Assyrians" and they did oppress the ten lost tribes of northern Israel...The mere fact that your author is forced to change the plural form of Assyrians to the singular Assyrian to make his argument should have been enough for you to jump off his book..

Sorry Richard but you are quite wrong. Antiochus did rule Babylon. He ruled over the Seleucid portion of Alexanders Empire and that included Babylon.

At the height of its power, it included central Anatolia, the Levant, Mesopotamia, Persia, today's Turkmenistan, Pamir and parts of Pakistan.

http://www.prophecyf.../antiochus.html
Mesopotamia is the area of Babylon.

And I didn't change anything. I quoted directly from the KJV!
I wrote the page but posted this paragraph from a friend of mine.

So you must be saying that Isaiah 10 and 14 are about the Assyrian king Sennacherib? If you think this prophecy is history, you have a lot of explaining to do.
Isaiah says "be not afraid of the Assyrian."

What's "the annointing?"

Isaiah 10 and 14 are certainly speaking of the end times and the millenium.
Sennacherib was not destroyed in Israel. He was murdered by his own sons when he returned to Assyria. The Assyrian is said to be destroyed in God's land (Israel) and because of the anointing.

Isaiah 14:25 That I will break the Assyrian in my land, and upon my mountains tread him under foot: then shall his yoke depart from off them, and his burden depart from off their shoulders.

Isaiah 10:27 And it shall come to pass in that day, that his burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing.
Isaiah 30:31 For through the voice of the LORD shall the Assyrian be beaten down, which smote with a rod.

The Lord did not perform His whole work during the time of Sennacherib. (720 to about 683 BC). It wasn't the Lord who punnished Sennacherib. It was his sons who murdered him after he returned to Assyria! The Lord's "whole work" is not finished until he returns!

10:12 Wherefore it shall come to pass, that when the Lord hath performed his whole work upon mount Zion and on Jerusalem, I will punish the fruit of the stout heart of the king of Assyria, and the glory of his high looks.

Isaiah 14 is certainly talking about the end and the Millenium. The following verses prove it! Israel has never ruled over their oppressors, and have never been given rest from sorrow and fear.

This is speaking of the millenial kingdom. The whole earth has never been at rest after Sennacherib was murdered by his sons.

Isaiah 14:7 The whole earth is at rest, and is quiet: they break forth into singing.
8 Yea, the fir trees rejoice at thee, and the cedars of Lebanon, saying, Since thou art laid down, no feller is come up against us.

The Assyrian anti-christ is likened to Lucifer. And I doubt that hell from beneath was moved to meet Sennacherib at his coming.

Isaiah 14:9 Hell from beneath is moved for thee to meet thee at thy coming: it stirreth up the dead for thee, even all the chief ones of the earth; it hath raised up from their thrones all the kings of the nations.
10 All they shall speak and say unto thee, Art thou also become weak as we? art thou become like unto us?
11 Thy pomp is brought down to the grave, and the noise of thy viols: the worm is spread under thee, and the worms cover thee.
12 How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!
13 For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:
14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.
15 Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.

Daniel says that the anti-christ will not be destroyed by human hands. Sennacherib was murdered by his sons.

Daniel 8:25 And through his policy also he shall cause craft to prosper in his hand; and he shall magnify himself in his heart, and by peace shall destroy many: he shall also stand up against the Prince of princes; but he shall be broken without hand.
Isaiah 30:31 says the Assyrian shall be destroyed by the voice of the Lord.

Isaiah 30:31 For through the voice of the LORD shall the Assyrian be beaten down, which smote with a rod.

The Assyrian king of Isaiah's day is said to die in his own land.
2 Kings 19:6 And Isaiah said unto them, Thus shall ye say to your master, Thus saith the LORD, Be not afraid of the words which thou hast heard, with which the servants of the king of Assyria have blasphemed me.
7 Behold, I will send a blast upon him, and he shall hear a rumour, and shall return to his own land; and I will cause him to fall by the sword in his own land. (He was Killed by his own son)

The yoke imposed upon Israel by the Assyrian anti-christ is broken by "the anointing." ...Think about it!
7 And it shall come to pass in that day, that his burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulder
