Please know that when you put your trust in Jesus that he has covered all your sins even the habitual ones you are struggling with.

He that committeth sin is of the devil…” (1 John 3:8)

In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil” (1 John 3:10)

When we sin, we are walking away from the Lord and are in league with the devil. Unfortunately, we all struggle with sin while still in this life. I'm sorry if you believe that after we come to God we will no longer sin, but that is just not biblical. David, the man after God's own heart, committed adultery and murder. He surely dwells now with the Lord in heaven (though of course, no one can be sure of that but God). Jesus rebuked Peter after he had proclaimed Christ for Peter's condemning Jesus' talk of having to die. Then of course, we have in 1 John God revealing how "If we say we have no sin in us we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us".

No sin is okay or to be condoned. It is just the fact of life for believers while we yet remain here on this side of glory. The best thing about heaven is that there will be no sin. If you do not agree with this, I can do no more except to ask you to that we will have to agree to disagree. I do not like there to be dissension among my brothers and sisters in Jesus.

With much love in Him who loves us perfectly,
Anne

Are you calling Jesus a liar?

“go, and sin no more.” (John 8:11)

David, the man after God's own heart, committed adultery and murder. He surely dwells now with the Lord in heaven

This is before the revelation of dying in the flesh and being born-again was revealed and before the works of the Devil were destroyed. Not applicable.

The best thing about heaven is that there will be no sin.

Um, WHERE was Satan before being cast down to earth?

“the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.” (1 John 3:8)

You are deficient in biblical doctrine.

I am sorry we have this misunderstanding. I wish you peace brother, but it appears to me there is not much I can say to you which would not result in dissension. The tone you use is not that of a loving brother in Jesus. These are the kind of discussions that I do not care to have. If I have time I will reply to you later, but you come across as scornful to me. I do not wish to have these kinds of talks here or anywhere. I hope I am reading your post incorrectly and you are responding in love.

My heart is breaking for my departed husband who also was a life long sinner. I pray you will not take the place of God and say he is condemned. No one knows the heart of anyone and where they truly stand but God. All we can see is their fruits.

Brother, my heart is breaking. I pray you will not be unkind to me but rather be as merciful as Jesus was. His mercy and compassion is what drew me to him. I know he loves me with an everlasting and unchanging love and there is nothing that can take me out of his hand. Please, do not hurt me any more brother. I am very, very weak. I pray you will respond in love to me. I do love you as my brother in Jesus although we do understand things differently. Jesus does not break the bruised reed or quench a smoldering wick.

I am very, very weak.

“be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.” (Ephesians 6:10-11)

I pray that you find strength in the Lord.

I am very sorry to hear about your husband. Condolences and kind regards.

Hi @dhh712

We may indeed remember that a believer can be 'overtaken in a fault' (Galatians 6.1); it is still true what the hymn says:

"No longer shall sin have dominion,
Though present to tempt and annoy..."

It's heartening that Paul can testify that "He that hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ" (Philippians 1.6).
