Something called 'Palliative Sedation' sounds interesting, the terminally ill patient is rendered permanently unconscious by drugs and dies in his/her sleep.

if someone is terminally ill and suffering, perhaps it's our duty to set their souls free with euthanasia rather than let satan go on hurting them?

Do you suppose that the people who were brought back to life again by Christ and the Apostles never got sick again?

We see some of the saints in the New Testament got very sick, one near to death (Philippians 2:27).

Taking a life prematurely is murder.

The scriptures tell us to comfort those severely sick:

“Give strong drink unto him that is ready to perish, and wine unto those that be of heavy hearts.” (Proverbs 31:6)

Why would he make children and adults suffer an awful death with cancer? Or to be killed violently in a war, a criminal act of murder, or a car accident? Seriously?

This verse would seem to support you:

“Mark the perfect man, and behold the upright: for the end of that man is peace.” (Psalms 37:37)

But then there’s this:

“There is a vanity which is done upon the earth; that there be just men, unto whom it happeneth according to the work of the wicked; again, there be wicked men, to whom it happeneth according to the work of the righteous: I said that this also is vanity.” (Ecclesiastes 8:14)

Samson, was a suicide.
He's not in Hell.
The NT says that Samson is a "Hero of the Faith".

He died in warfare against the enemies of God. This was not suicide, it was a casualty of war.

Using Samson’s case to justify suicide is foolish.

“…he that killeth a man, he shall be put to death.” (Leviticus 24:21)

But what if the suffering person asks to be killed?
Anyway, the soul can't be killed, just the useless body.
Jesus said "The spirit within gives life, the flesh alone is worthless" (John 6:63)

That's known as assisted suicide in some of our states

It's all about definitions...
Legal definitions and personal definitions.
I don't think letting someone go is euthanasia, it has to be active and I think that might be wrong

Death is inevitable for every one of us. There is no doubt about the sanctity of life promoted in God’s word, but as the Proverb says....”there is a time to be born and a time to die”....for some, that “time to die” is prolonged by medical intervention, which is not always a bad thing as long as the circumstances are right. Fighting to save a life is a good thing as long as that person has a life to look forward to.

A person who has an awful terminal illness and suffering is an every day burden to them, if they contract a form of pneumonia, why would you treat that pneumonia and save their life? What would you be saving them for? Letting nature take its course without intervention, would be merciful.

These are issues we all need to discuss with family members. We need to know their wishes, and put our own feelings aside because, if we make these decisions early and make them part of our end of life choices, then no one should impose their wishes on their family member. Doctors who have issues with end of life procedures have no business imposing their beliefs on their patients either.

Each person is responsible before God for the choices they make. I know that if I am ever in that situation, my wishes are already known to my family who were all at my husband’s bedside as he executed his choice to refuse all life support. He died with dignity even though the last years of his life were reliant on nursing home staff to do everything for him. When quality of life is gone and nothing will bring it back, imposing quantity is often a cruel thing to do if someone’s life is not worth living.

It’s easy to say that assisted dying is wrong, until it’s you who is begging for death. Death then is not an enemy....but a welcome friend. Those of us who have faith in God should never be afraid of it.

Do you really believe that God has anything to do with the way people die? If he does then he is a cruel fiend.
Why would he make children and adults suffer an awful death with cancer? Or to be killed violently in a war, a criminal act of murder, or a car accident? Seriously? Where do you see God in death?

If you have ever sat beside a loved one who was dying, you would move heaven and earth to relieve their suffering......many have, despite the outcome.
There comes a time when the pain meds don't work anymore. If you would put an animal out of its misery, why not more so a human? :(
I sat with my mother as she died from Myelodysplastic Bone Marrow disease. There is no excuse for 'putting a person down' like an animal. There are ways to minimize suffering. They did that for my mother.

What about the people that did successfully commit suicide? Was that Gods will? Surely not.
I know people that have committed suicide and i don't believe it was Gods will
I don't believe God intended us to be killing ourselves, but I do believe we will not die until God's time for us to die.

Much love!

I don’t think that is the argument.....it’s not about putting humans in the same category as an animal, but in not prolonging suffering out of some sense that life has to be preserved at all costs.

If we would compassionately put a suffering animal to sleep, where is our compassion if we have choices about end of life for humans and watch unrelenting suffering? It’s not about us making choices for others, but about us making choices for ourselves....and having others honour those choices even against their own beliefs. We have no right to impose our beliefs on anyone.

For many, those who suffer greatly with impending death only weeks or months away, why is it wrong to hasten death and end their suffering? Many of those who face this situation are begging for death because they find that the pain medication no longer works.....it has been administered for a long period of time and no longer does the job. Does God somehow want that person to suffer and die, one painful inch at a time?

Putting such ones into a coma and withdrawing artificial means to prolong life, allowing death to overtake them naturally, is a kindness. Who can argue with this?

The Bible’s position on the sanctity of human life is clear, one of the Ten Commandments was “thou shalt not kill” but the word used there relates to “murder”, so what is murder? Is the one performing an execution under the legal death penalty, a “murderer? Is all “killing” then unlawful from God’s standpoint?

If there is “a time to be born and a time to die” as Solomon stated, who determines when it is our time to die? Does God hold back death from someone suffering unbearable agony? How could our compassionate God do that?

The idea that God intervenes individually in every birth and death does not hold up under investigation. Very few mentioned in the scriptures were born to a certain foreordained assignment, and they are clearly identified....the rest of humanity are born by ransom chance, which is backed up by the fact that so many are still born, or who die shortly after birth, or more likely these days, are aborted.
That does not include those who are born as an act of rape or incest. Does God cause these births? If the answer is “no” (and there is no reason to believe that he does) what then of a person’s death? Does God really determine when or how a person dies? Again...how could he? He ends up being a fiend and we know that he is not.

God gave us the ability to reproduce, but along with that, he gave us the responsibility to pass that life on to others within the parameters of the marriage arrangement. Does God determine who can reproduce and who cannot? No! That is also a random thing....a product of human imperfection caused by Adam’s sin. Again, if God was responsible for that, he is a cruel fiend, depriving women of motherhood when every instinct in them craves it.

Can you see a bigger picture here marks?

The idea that God intervenes individually in every birth and death does not hold up under investigation.

Acts 17:26-28 KJV
26) And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation;
27) That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us:
28) For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring.

No, but He does involve Himself personally with each of us.

Does God hold back death from someone suffering unbearable agony? How could our compassionate God do that?

God's compassion put His Own Son on a cross suffering extreme agony. How do you account for that?

1 Peter 4:1-2 KJV
1) Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin;
2) That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God.

Have you experience agonizing pain for any length of time? A number of hours, many days perhaps? Weeks or months?

Sometimes we have a difficult time understanding something so counter-intuitive.

My sister, before she died of her cancer, gave this testimony: "I never understood how much God loved me until I was dying of cancer."

There is a very deep work God works in us through the things we suffer. There is a much bigger picture than just how we feel.

Much love!
