Jn 3:5

5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
Simply put, IMHO-it is a new birth, a birth of the spirit. When there is real change in us, we know we do have His Spirit. If there is no change, we are still fully carnal.
Not that I have anything to back up the following but, it is what I have thought for many years. When we are born of "water", I say it is from the mothers womb (first birth) we are in her amniotic fluid popularly called "water" (a women's water breaks when about to give birth...the first birth) The second birth is to abide in Christ the (De-Vine) lol...and we's da branches! :) My belief is it all starts with surrender, killing the flesh...renewing our minds...WE renew them, not Christ...His Words will renew our minds and open up some awesome personal stuff!
JMHO :)

The phrase “ask Jesus into your heart” is not in the Bible. Believing in your heart is biblical:

Believing that Jesus is the Son of God.

Believing that God raised Jesus from the dead.

“…If thou believest with all thine heart… that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.” (Acts 8:37)

“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.” (Romans 10:9)

There’s no teaching in the Bible instructing us to “ask Jesus into our heart”.

What does being born again mean?

The scriptures have all the answers:

“…that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.” (Romans 6:6)

“…And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.” (Ephesians 4:22-24)

“…ye have put off the old man with his deeds; And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him...” (Colossians 3:9-11)

really? What’s the water for?

Water - a temporary protection for a developing human.
Water - a necessary fluid for life of the human to consume.
Water - works of men, a temporary cleansing of body’s flesh.
Water - works of God, a temporary cleansing of the earth: flood
Water - works of men, a temporary baptism for temporary remission of ...........sins/
...........replacing temporary animal flesh and blood sacrifice for sin ...........remission.

Baptism of the Holy Spirit - Works of God - Permanently forgive sin -
Permanently restore the soul, Permanently quicken the spirit, Permanently Justify that body to be Risen Up, uncorrupted, and forever With God.

Glory to God,

The Understanding to “ask Jesus into ones heart” is Biblical.
Jesus paid the price for men to have Conversion, Before physical death.
Jesus Offers Conversion to all men.
Conversion expressly includes A circumcised heart/new heart, and the Spirit of Truth, ie Jesus’ Holy Spirit to enter in a persons new heart...
Asking is coupled with addressing the Lord, calling on Him, to Confess ones Belief, and revealing ones Desire for The Spirit of God to Dwell in the man.

And yet you present NO scripture to back this up.

Point to a scripture that confirms your doctrine, otherwise don’t give me vain speeches.

The Protocol IS YOU go search the Scriptures to see if what you hear is true......you didn’t.
The Protocol IS ASK IF you can not find......you didn’t.

What is Typical of you is to reveal your laziness coupled with a snarky remark...

Try asking.

Seriously?!

You bring unscriptural teaching that I know is not in the Bible and I AM THE ONE that has to look up it??? LOL!!!

Why don’t you look it up (in vain) and show me proof?

Seriously?!

Acts 17:
[11] These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.

bring unscriptural teaching that I know is not in the Bible and I AM THE ONE that has to look up it??? LOL!!!

Clarifying....You KNOW it is unscriptural for a person to ask Jesus to come into their heart.

Why don’t you look it up (in vain) and show me proof?

Why don’t I? Because you are snarky and never asked!

where does Jn 3:5 say “accept Jesus as your personal Lord and savior”????

Does not even mention faith much less “faith alone”!

it does not say you are born of water and born again by the spirit

it says born again BY water AND the spirit!

Acts 17:
[11] These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.

Because what Paul was preaching to them WAS in the scripture and they did NOT KNOW.

I KNOW what you’re proposing is NOT in the scripture.

I am not being snarky.

If you would just reference scripture with your writings much of our bickering would be minimized. But you always draw me into this pointless back-and-forth stuff because you won’t show me out of the scriptures:

“And Paul, as his manner was, went in unto them, and three sabbath days reasoned with them out of the scriptures” (Acts 17:2)

So please, with cherries on top, show me some scriptures?

then how do we put on Christ?

Like this:

“Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye. And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness.” (Colossians 3:12-14)

you seem to always forget baptism?

Eph 2:1 he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;

2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:

3 Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.

4 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,

5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)

Quickened or brought to life in grace: that’s baptism

gal 3:27 For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.
