Are you sure about that? ... opss darn saved again

This is the type foolishness one will engage when they don't know how a person is saved.

As Paul said, "it is with the heart that man believes unto righteousness."

And them he said "with the mouth confession is made into salvation."

But it seems you guys have ignored the only explanation of salvation given in scripture.

Rom. 10:9-10

"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation."

BORING!!!
I want you to write Acts 2:38, 100 times on a piece of paper and turn it in at the end of the day for being an Acts skipper.

If that doesn't work you must write 200 Mark 16:16's and turn them in by tomorrow's class.

A...... C.........T........zzzzzzzz --- BORING!!!

LOL
LOL

Why is the worst scripture in the Bible to them, Acts 2:38?

Would they rather cut off their hand or pluck out their eye than obey it?

.
Repentance is NOT mentioned in your PET VERSES, but like baptism it is very much required.
Consider the following, pieces of the larger picture...

Luke 13:5 I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.
John 3:5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
Mark 16:16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved...

Acts 2:38 encapsulates all of the above:

Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart(they now believe), and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?

Acts 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.

You skipped Acts again, Charlie.

Old habits die hard?

Not nice to teach sinners the gospels, skip Acts entirely then take them to the letters written to affirm the faith of the saints that obeyed Acts 2:38.

Let me help you here...

In just a few short minutes you will get it entirely.

What do think "believe" means? Peter could have said "believe" instead of repent and it would have been the same.

To believe in Christ (if it's proper belief) means that you have accepted the Cross, and know you need a Saviour.

That in itself is a turn around, a change that takes place in the heart.

Believing and repenting is the same?...

19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.

...the devils even confess Jesus is the son of God.

Repentance is believing?

Believing includes repentance. What have we done when we believe properly according to scripture?

The Gospel message convicts the heart of sin. We see that we are in need of a Saviour.

Automatically we see we are on the wrong path. Now it is the Holy Spirit that takes control.

We have already admitted we are a sinner and need to change by the mere fact we now believe.

Now the reality of sin sets in and remorse takes over for how you have wronged Christ.

The only explanation of salvation given in scripture?

"For by grace you are saved through faith, and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God; it is not from works, so that no one can boast." Ephesians 2:8-9

Those verses tells you no works are involved in salvation.

The verses I gave tells you HOW you are saved.

Say what? "For by grace you are saved through faith" tells you exactly HOW you are saved: through faith.

In your own words, "This is the type foolishness one will engage when they don't know how a person is saved."

Salvation comes from the heart, that is the key to knowing how salvation takes place when we believe.

Of course we know we are saved by grace through faith, but salvation does not take place in water or our good works, it comes by faith from the heart.

Boy howdy.

Christendom would rather fight than switch and obey Acts 2:38.

God never changes, but His Plan of Salvation does....He even kept secrets that were kept hidden from the Disciples—— including Peter! Secrets that Jesus Never revealed in His Earthly Ministry....once the “ Mysteries Of God” were revealed to Paul and him only, things changed.....In a Nutshell, The Message changed from “ WHO” Jesus was to “ WHAT” Jesus accomplished at the Cross....Peter’s Commands to Recognize that Jesus was the Messiah and then to Repent and be water baptized to get Saved by Receiving the Holy Spirit were most certainly valid for him and his audience —- if you were present as he spoke, you had to do as he said to get Saved....

When Paul entered the scene , after being taught personally by Jesus during his three years in the Desert with Him , he came out with a New Plan....the Gospel That He spread that was given to him by Jesus was not emphasizing “ Who” Jesus was , But it was stressing what Jesus “ DID!”......No longer did one have to be baptized in water to receive the Holy Spirit......The Plan for Salvation and Receiving That Holy Spirit That Saves, was obtained Now by simply BELIEVING that Jesus died for your sins and rose from the dead......anything taught before Paul’s “ Good News” had to take a “ back seat” now because it is THIS Gospel — the one that Paul referred to at least three times as “ his” Gospel —- is the One that God will Judge you by on Judgement Day ( Rom 2:6 )

A wise person will get with the New Plan .....the Transition from Peters Teaching at the start of Acts which was valid when he taught it, is chronicled in that Book as the Message is essentially “ handed off” to Paul who got his New Plan Of Salvation straight from Jesus....

The Plan got changed —- changed by Jesus Himself and using Paul as His Spokesman, —- and even Peter Himself and the other Apostles agreed with Paul after some very serious arguments , and agreed that Paul’s Message was True....They even extended the “ right hand of fellowship” ( a solemn act of partnership in that day) and agreed that the Gospel Of BELIEF ONLY for Salvation that Paul had been preaching to the Gentiles was valid now.....Peter confessed later that even though he found Paul “ hard to understand” at times, anything that Paul wrote was “ the EQUAL “ to anything else in Scripture .... why would one need any more convincing? The Plan changed and Even Peter endorsed it...

Some in here are stuck in Acts 2:38 because they are “ Poor Students Of The Word” .....what a shame....They don’t think “ Transitions” in the Ways Of
God are allowed....They are ignorant about the “Total” Word Of God because they defy God when they fail to learn how to “properly Divide” that Word.....If there were no such things as “ transitions” in the Bible, ( the-ones talked about in Acts) we would still be sacrificing Bulls today .....using the Confused “ logic” And the poor, Confused “ teaching” of Truther and his ilk, we would be spending this Holiday Week End out looking for Yard Sales when we might catch a Bargain on sheep, Bulls and goats...He had better set his sights on “ Pauls Gospel” because As I pointed out....it is THAT Plan that he is gonna be Judged by...Remember, Truther— you heard it here first....
