hi there again, im making a new post based on the belief in the holy spirit, and i am a "new" christian (well, i've always been a christian, but recently decided to put god first)...so, im sure you can back me up with some biblical references, but to inquire, what are your experiences with the holy ghost(spirit), i mean, im generally a passive guy, humble, and i believe the holy spirit is always somehow with me, even before i didn't put god first..how do you perceive the holy spirit? in mind, on your actions? how do you know when it's there?

.Christians believe in a trinity. In other words... God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. They are all one being, but separate. It's hard to explain because it doesn't make sense. But then again it makes total sense.

You'll understand it once you'll figure it out. I too was confused. And sorry I can't find a verse for you.

The Bible Says that this will happen when God gives us the Holy Ghost/Spirit:Acts 2:4 - And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. Mark 16:17 - And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; Acts 19:6 - And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied. ***Make sure that you have obeyed God's Word completely as specified by Peter:Acts 2:38Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. Baptism: Total Body immersion in water in the name of Jesus! Why? the Bible supports this and there are numerous examples given. What does baptism do? It washes away our sins by leaving/burying the "old man" under/in the water. Why did Jesus get baptized, when he knew no sin (was not a sinner)? He was an example to us, that we should follow after...and do the things that He did in that manner that God called them to be done.Matthew 3:16 - And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him: Mark 16:16 - He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. Acts 8:36 - And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized? Acts 8:38 - And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him. Acts 16:33 - And he took them the same hour of the night, and washed their stripes; and was baptized, he and all his, straightway. (KJV)With Love, Arena

Here is a prayer that you can use and teach others.Prayer for the Seven Gifts of the Holy SpiritO Lord Jesus Christ, Who, before ascending into heaven, did promise to send the Holy Spirit to finish Thy work in the souls of Thy Apostles and Disciples, deign to grant the same Holy Spirit to me, that He may perfect in my soul the work of Thy grace and Thy love. Grant me the Spirit of Wisdom that I may despise the perishable things of this world and aspire only after the things that are eternal, the Spirit of Understanding to enlighten my mind with the light of Thy divine truth, the Spirit of Counsel that I may choose the surest way of pleasing God and gaining Heaven, the Spirit of Fortitude that I may bear my cross with Thee, and that I may overcome with courage all the obstacles that oppose my salvation, the Spirit of Knowledge that I may know God and know myself and grow perfect in the science of the Saints, the Spirit of Piety that I may find the service of God sweet and amiable, the Spirit of Fear that I may be filled with a loving reverence towards God, and may dread in any way to displease Him. Mark me, dear Lord, with the sign of Thy true disciples and animate me in all things with Thy Spirit. AmenMay God keep you all safe have a blessed day

Questions about the Godhead?God (known as the "Father" with respect to creation) came down to earth in the form of Jesus to die for our sins (he knew no sin but "voluntarily" made himself sin for us....a once and for all sacrifice for sin). He arose on day 3, and He promised us a "comforter" which is known as the Holy Ghost (Spirit) which is a porcion of God's own Spirit that He gives to those that believe and obey his Word.1John 5:7 - For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. (also see John 1;1-14, John 14:4-11)So, in essence, its ONE God, but he has multiple forms. E.g. Pure Water (H20) can exist in three different forms/phases (Liquid, Solid, Gas), but no matter the form, it still does not change the fact that it is still Water.Hope this helps?

John 14: 18I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to youvs.20At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you.Vs.23Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me , he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with Him!vs.26But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, He shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.Oh' How I love the HolyGhost! He is wonderful, He gives you great joy, and fills you up to over flowing with God's glory. You can even get intoxicated with Him, it's the best High that I have ever experienced and I can partake of it at any time!Plus you recieve Power to heal, to cast out demons, to set people free and to speak boldly about your faith!

Actually, I would rephrase that to say we believe in a triune God, God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. There are those of course who don't believe in a Trinity, or they don't believe that Jesus or the Holy Spirit are God, but I do. They are all Three ONE God. That's probably what you meant, but I just thought I'd clarify it a little. Hope I succeeded.:bible:

actually all, i understand the trinity and believe in it, i simply meant what are some of your experiences with the holy spirit..actually for me, it's more like a feeling or thought that always comes to me, and i feel like listening to that thought or feeling cuz i know it will help me through whatever, like today, when i was coming home, i felt like going straight home, cuz a thought hit me that there might be danger if i stay out longer, dont know why, but i did.

The Holy Spirit is hard (if not impossible) to explain. Like the wind, sometimes a strong powerful force, and sometimes a whisper. I do not think you have to speak another language to have the Spirit, it is just one if the signs. The Spirit gives you joy during worship, and peace when things are going downhill fast. The Spirit also helps us to pray. There is so much that the Holy Spirit does is impossible to say it all. What an awesome God we have!

The holy spirit has come during our ministry times in such a way, that it is just amazing, and it is so biblical. It sais in the bible that when some of the prophets were filled with the holy spirit some men thought that they were drunk and said "why are they drunk at this time in the morning" but it was the power of the holy spirit.i've seen kids who many many of them satan has had a hold on them for so many years, and there is lies and deception, and hurt, and everything ungodly there. But when the presence of God is there, and the spirit rests so heavely, and satan just hates it. So we see manifestations of all the bad stuff as we pray and fight for it to be healed and God comes and does his thing. But when the Holy spirit comes and it is moving in your own personal life, there is no way you can't feel it, unless you are not wanting to, or you refuse to let God work in you. You can also see the works of the spirit, some people shout and scream in joy to God, some cry streams of joy, some laugh and laugh and laugh, some shake there's so many different ways and it's different for each person. I can't explain it at all in typing sorrry if that makes no sense!

hi pb,here's my testimony, hope it helps:-I was brought up church of England, but I only went because my dad wanted me to go, there was nothing inspiring there for me so when I left for University I stopped going. While there I started to consider the purpose of my life, and realised I didn't have one that satisfied me, "the world was my oyster", but there was no pearl !So when some people who obviously believed in the bible spoke to me I decided to investigate properly. I started going to various church meetings and was told to pray a “sinners prayer”, believing, and as such I was "a Christian". For the next 18 months I continued going to meetings and reading books by people considered to be "Christian leaders" to try and work out God's will for me.Then I met people who were not going to different churches and reading lots of books about God, they had a confidence and contentment I had not attained to, despite my efforts. I realised my relationship with God was mostly one-way, from me, not the daily, growing 2-way relationship they seemed to have. They had received the Holy Spirit and spoke in tongues (an unlearned prayer language that God leads his people in, cos only he knows his perfect will for us, it allows him to minister his grace & love to our hearts - 1 Cor. 14v2, 4; Jude 20-21). They also had other direct input and leading from God. After a while I realised I was getting nowhere spiritually so for the first time I actually prayed expecting God to *do* something... namely give me the same as them or whatever else I needed (I didn’t know). One evening I was alone in my room, not doubting or fearing, just believing God had said yes to me (because he could have no favourites), I spoke in tongues and in the days that followed I realised I had the Life spoken of in the bible, whereas before I was trying to be something I was not ! I used to worry and get bored, now I see God opening my understanding about why things are the way they are, and more importantly, what life can be like.I left the old churches because I could see they was as I was before, not as I wanted to be. The church I'm now in is like the one in the new testament, all members have the new Life, we have a unity I never found before. I now have contentment and fulfilling purpose that only the living God can give. I am now able to know and live according to God’s nature because I have His heart and mind through the Holy Spirit in me.
