A question-
The God of the Old T often spoke harshly, but when he spoke through Jesus in the New T he became softer, so did God change or what?
God didn't change, but salvation did.

I had that discussion with one of my Catholic neighbors. His theory is that God mellowed out a bit after He had a Kid.

Could be..:)
On the other hand perhaps God had to talk tough and crack a few thick heads together in the Old T to gain their respect, but thought people had become a little more enlightened in New T times, so went easier on them..:)
"The law brought us to Christ like a schoolmaster, but now through Christ we are not under that schoolmaster" (Galatians 3:22-25)
"In the past God overlooked such ignorance, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent." (Acts of the Apostles 17:30)

Right He is the same, so no He did not change, what changed was the New Covenant He offered vs. the old.

Jesus also showed that He did not come to bring peace upon the earth...

Matt 10:34-36
34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.

35 For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.

36 And a man's foes shall be they of his own household.
KJV

Especially in these last days, it is becoming more and more difficult for even God's people to join together against the works of the devil and his children that are given control over this present world.

It's important for God's people to understand that we are not of this present world. This world today is not our true home. So those who try to bring the things of this world into the Church do not understand why they are here and what this present world is about.

Yes, true Christians maintain a buffer between themselves and the world and refuse to get bogged down in it..:)

"For we look at things unseen rather than the seen, for the seen are temporary, but the unseen are eternal" (2 Corinthians 4:18)
"Jesus saved you from the empty way of life handed you by your forefathers" (1 Peter 1:18 )
"Don't conform to the pattern of this world" (Romans 12:2)
"As a soldier of Christ, please only God and not the world" (2 Timothy 2:3-4)
"Don't love the world or the things in it, otherwise the love of God is not in you" (1 John 2:15-17)
"Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth" (Colossians3:2)
"You were bought at a price, don't serve men" (1 Corinthians 7:23)
"A friend of the world is the enemy of God" (James 4:4)
"You were dead when you followed the ways of the world" (Ephesians 2:1-2)
"You died with Christ from this world, so don't keep submitting to its rules" (Colossians 2:20)
Jesus said:- "The world wants you to dance to its tune......God has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners...to release the oppressed" (Matthew 11:16-17,Luke 4:18)

well Davy, you might be right, but what if you are not?
All I can do for you then is to refer you to what Apostle James said about doubters...
ok so hopefully you see the reason for the accusation here, and all i can really say is that if we were face to face, where you could have heard my inflection, you likely would not have been so offended; “why make yourself into God?” is imo a pretty good question for anyone making statements of fact that turn out to be unverifiable. Dont we all have beliefs that should be tested? Would you just prefer to keep believing something that may not be true?

And believing is one thing, i think; “i believe the Bible is the Word” what objection could i possibly have there? But see, it is being taught as a fact here now, right? And i will tell you honestly that this forum being where it is now, i still likely would have just passed on it, except i am reading “and if you doubt me, in this thing that i cannot provide any evidence for, you are satan” or whatever? i mean pls

so, if you would just address post 4, where i was just asking questions that are not accusative, we could maybe move on from there? Bc imo it should be a simple thing to understand that Scripture can be scribed up to suit a reader, as we are even warned about in the Bible, so how can It be Word?

And further, if you think about it, arent you really just defending a belief that someone else taught you? I gotta confess that even though i used to say it too, i never really got the desire to insist upon making the Bible into Word; i just believed it for like forty years, and didnt really think much about it, prolly like most of you? It was just another Established Fact, as far as i was concerned.

So, im an idiot ok, didnt do this right i guess, and i apologize if i offended anyone, but pls reflect upon the possible/likely irony of a ppl who insist that Word is the Bible, only they cant Quote that anywhere in It. And pls, for your own sake, doubt me, and go seek the truth if you do imo. ok peace

God didn't change, but salvation did.
well…Esau needed red stew or he would die too, right
so let me suggest that that is connected to what we believe is “salvation” now, and that “why have You forsaken Me” is going to have a meaning…diff from the one that they teach us, someday, imo. For you sooner rather than later, i bet :)

so, saved, from what? you might ask yourself
and then, go find that and Quote it, or i mean at least be prepared to, iow know that you know where it can be found, imo
ps, dont waste all day looking for that either lol; or iow, salvation maybe hasnt changed at all

tbh i am kind of liking the idea of worshipping the Word of Yah, i am even going to spend the rest of the day doing it, and see what happens. Well, i might break it off if i get some unction urging me that i am on a bad path, but tbh i doubt that that is going to occur.

Now if only i could discover what Word is, huh? I wonder where i could go, to find out? :)
