Jesus died for them and loves them just as much as you! and who knows what the spirit is doing in their hearts and souls. You may be the tool God wishes to use to help free a fellow saint from the very weakness you are judging them for!
So this is how God operates in MY life.
A couple summers ago, I'm sitting in my livingroom. It's hot out. I don't have A/C. I'm set back off the main road some 150 feet. There are other houses in both directions that are much closer to the road. You can't see the trailer I live in because it's blocked by a large garage and lots of trees.
This hot summer day I have a knock on my door. There's a young girl, perhaps mid 20's standing there asking me if she could have a glass of water. She's been walking for about 6 miles so far and she's headed to Bangor. (Bangor is an hour's driving time from where I live)
I say sure come in, sit down, I'll get some ice water. (I don't do soda, no sugar)
I noticed she had flipflops on and her feet were full of blisters.
"So where you going?"
"I'm trying to get to Bangor, I have some friends there I'm going to stay with."
"That's a long ways to walk. Can you call someone and come pick you up?"
"I been trying to hitchhike but no one has stopped"
This is Sunday afternoon. Traffic is slow today. I thought to myself, If I can get her downtown, maybe she can find a ride where there are more people around. So I excused myself, quietly grabbed my wallet to see how much money I had for gas. I had $40.00.
"What if I drive you downtown. that's at least 10 miles from here, maybe you can find a ride there? "
So we got in the car, the car has 1/4 tank of gas. No problem getting to town.
We drove into town and it was like a ghost town. I never seen it so quiet. EVER.
So instead of saying anything I just kept on driving, heading towards Bangor. We'd see how far we could get.
I stopped at a gas station and threw $15.00 in the car. Handed her $20 and said go on in the store and get us something cold to drink, I think we're headed to Bangor.
She was a smoker, and so am I. So I told he to grab herself a pack while she was there.
I don't travel much. My car isn't very reliable. I never drove to Bangor, not having a need to.
So Off we went. The A/C in the car was working at the time, that was a blessing.
I asked her where she would like me to drop her. She said if I could get her to the hospital, she had friends in the area she could get to.
And so we found the hospital. I handed her the last $5 bill I had in my wallet incase she needed to make a call or something.
She thanked me. I turned around and drove the hour back home alone.
I felt pretty good. God sent me someone I could help that day.
Did it leave an impression of a good samaritan?
I may never know. Only God knows.
I've had many encounters like that throughout my life.
If God wants me to help someone, he usually puts them directly in my path where they can not be ignored.
And he knows my heart, that I would never ignore someone in need.
Even sometimes if it means possibly putting my own life in danger.
I didn't know this girl. I didn't know where she come from. I didn't even know if she was alone.
I believed her, and I trusted God.
This is the gift God has given me. And NO ONE, I say NO ONE is going to question how God chooses me to use those gifts.
Thank You very much
