...that is a matter of opinion...yours over many millions who celebrate Martin Luther King Day in the United States.... :)

Shalom...

Because millions of people agree on something does not mean it makes sense. Billions of people agree to start the new day at midnight, but in the Bible God begins and end a day at sunset.....which also makes more sense to me.

I did not say that it made sense but it does make one understand the logic of some who wish to celebrate for instance, the birth of Jesus on Dec 25th of each year. What I'm trying to get at...is that it does not matter when it is celebrated but that it is as a memorial to the one who was born "Savior of the World"

In Commonwealth countries like NZ, we celebrate "Queens birthday" which is a national holiday and falls on the first Monday of June each year.
In other parts of the Commonwealth, eg:UK, it is celebrated on the 2nd or 3rd Saturday of June. In Canada, 24th May and Australia, the 2nd Monday of June.
Her real birthday however, is on the 21st April 1926.

The reason why the Monarch’s official birthday is celebrated on different dates in different countries is due to "political expediency and historical tradition."

It is your choice whether you celebrate Christmas or not... but I will continue to celebrate it because it is worthy to be celebrated...

Shalom!

That was my point from the beginning. And there is a difference between celebrating a person's birthday and celebrating the person or the fact that the individual was born. The first one is dealing with a specific day the person was born on and the latter can be celebrated as often as one chose and is not limited any particular day.

Ohhh...I thought this was your point...

But if one is celebrating a person's birthday on a date that the person was not born on, are they really celebrating that person's birthday? It's one thing to celebrate the fact that Jesus was born (that can be celebrated on any day and as often as one chose), but to use December 25 as the day of Jesus' birth is not worshiping God in truth, because that date is a lie.
As I have stated before...
Why is it that people celebrate great leaders with memorial services and National Holidays...but have trouble with celebrating the birth of Jesus [the savior of the world] once a year because it ain't on the actual day he was born?
not all Christians are stupid...they know what they are celebrating and they certainly know that DEC 25 is not Jesus actual birthday...

 You may have the last word, since that is what you are aiming for...

Be Blessed!!!

- Is Christmas Christian?

All Christians should read Pastor Emry's eye opening book about the pagan origin of one of the most deceiving holidays observed by most. This must stop before God will, again, bless America! ! !

I choose to celebrate Christ's birth. It just so happens that, based on tradition, Christ's birth is celebrated on Dec. 25th. That is cool with me.

Thank you..here it is. First of, I was never implying that Christians were stupid. The next thing is, I never knew that Jesus was not born on December the 25 until I became an adult....a young adult. So for most of my growing up years I was lied to....I was lied to by the songs that were played on the radio and song in Church. You know it just as much a sin to sing a lie as to tell one? Christians or Church goers lied because they proclaimed that Jesus was born on that day....it was not simply that they knew Jesus was not born on that day, but they picked that day to honor Him.....they said He was born on that day.

I only found out that it was all a lie from reading a booklet written by a Christian....this is where I found out of a boy who himself found out that Santa Claus was not real, and after that was wondering if Jesus was a real person....this man was the only one that I know who was trying to inform Christians that Christmas origin came from paganism.

So when I was growing up Christians were celebrating Christmas because they said and proclaimed that He was born on December 25......they lied and or participated in a lie.

I choose to celebrate Christ's birth. It just so happens that, based on tradition, Christ's birth is celebrated on Dec. 25th. That is cool with me.

So what you are saying is before that you never celebrated Christmas.

Job was never written by Moses. It was much later on, after Solomon's time.

I know that the ancient Jews didn't believe in the devil because he isn't mentioned in the Pentateuch.

The Sageses didn't believe in satan becasue they didn't believe in anything outside the Pentateuch.

Me too, I can do without all of the gift shopping though. Even though I know it's not actually the accurate birth date of the Christ child and that the holiday has lost much of it's meaning, I still like it because there is no other time on earth where so many consider others and show kindness.

I like to celebrate Christ everyday and sometimes even all day.

On a side note, do you celebrate the 12 days of Christmas Aspen?

If that kindness was genuine people would not wait around for that date to be kind.......it would be expressed by all on the other days and months as well. So you may be fooled by it but God knows that it is only an outward show.

Matthew 15:8-9 (ASV)
[sup]8 [/sup]This people honoreth me with their lips; But their heart is far from me.
[sup]9 [/sup]But in vain do they worship me, Teaching as their doctrines the precepts of men.

I think you are misunderstanding my post Buzz.

But addressing your post, do you always show kindness without fail 365 days a year? If your honest I'm sure your answer should be "No" and in light of that should we then question the kindness you have shown as being genuine or not?

I used to when I was a kid, but not anymore. No reason.

I make a habited of striving to allow the goodness of God comes out 24/7 and 365 days of the year. And so, yes, I do. That may be hard for you to believe but it is the truth. It all have to do with ones attitude and their way of thinking. Unfortunately too many Christians have a bad attitude about what they go through and take their disappointment and frustrations out on others, and thereby set a poor example.

Job was never written by Moses. It was much later on, after Solomon's time.

If it really was written after solomons time, then it would not be a story about a 'true worshiper of the Hebrew God' because by Solomons time, you had to be a circumcised hebrew to be a true worshiper of God...yet Job was not even a hebrew and he was named in that book as a 'true worshiper' ... so this is evidence that Job lived in Patriarchal times when God accepted people of all nations as his worshipers. Solomon knew that the be a true worshiper in his day, you had to be circumcised...so there is no way he would write about a man who was a true worshiper who wasnt even a jew.

The oldest jewish traditions have always held that Moses was the writer of Job and seeing they were the ones entrusted with the writings of the bible, i think they would have known who the writer was.

I know that the ancient Jews didn't believe in the devil because he isn't mentioned in the Pentateuch.

The Sageses didn't believe in satan becasue they didn't believe in anything outside the Pentateuch.

can you explain then why Jesus and his jewish apostles all believed in the Devil

And when Jesus accused the Jewish religious leaders of following their father the 'devil', why did they get so upset with him if they didnt believe the devil was a real person? If they didnt believe in the devil, Jesus words would have been meaningless to them...but as it was , they knew exactly who Jesus was accusing them of following.

I said the ancient Jew didn't believe in the devil. I'm talking about Jews that lived a long time before Jesus' time. At the time of Solomon for example they didn't believe in the devil or any kind of afterlife and by Jesus' time the mast majority of Jews did with the exception fo the Sageses.

Wow Buzz that's quite a claim, since you have been a christian you have never failed to show kindness, your right that is hard to believe.
