Isaiah 60:1. Arise, shine; for your light is come, and the glory of the Lord is risen upon you. 2. For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the Lord shall arise upon you, and his glory shall be seen upon you. 3. And the Gentiles shall come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your rising. 4. Lift up your eyes round about, and see: all they gather themselves together, they come to you: Your sons shall come from far, and your daughters shall be nursed at your side. 5. Then you shall see, and flow together, and your heart shall fear, and be enlarged; because the abundance of the sea shall be converted to you, the wealth of the Gentiles shall come to you. 6. The multitude of camels shall cover you, the dromedaries of Midian and Ephah; all they from Sheba shall come: they shall bring gold and incense; and they shall show forth the praises of the Lord. 7. All the flocks of Kedar shall be gathered together to you, the rams of Nebaioth shall minister to you: they shall come up with acceptance on my altar, and I will glorify the house of my glory. 8. Who are these that fly as a cloud, and as the doves to their windows? 9. Surely the isles shall wait for me, and the ships of Tarshish first, to bring your sons from far, their silver and their gold with them, unto the name of the Lord your God, and to the Holy One of Israel, because he has glorified you. 10. And the sons of strangers shall build up your walls, and their kings shall minister to you: for in my wrath I struck you, but in my favor have I had mercy on thee. 11. Therefore your gates shall be open continually; they shall not be shut day nor night; that men may bring to you the wealth of the Gentiles, and that their kings may be brought. 12. For the nation and kingdom that will not serve you shall perish; yes, those nations shall be utterly wasted. 13. The glory of Lebanon shall come to you, the fir tree, the pine tree, and the box together, to beautify the place of my sanctuary; and I will make the place of my feet glorious. 14. The sons also of them that afflicted you shall come bending to you; and all they that despised you shall bow themselves down at the soles of your feet; and they shall call you; The city of the Lord, The Zion of the Holy One of Israel. 15. Whereas you hast been forsaken and hated, so that no man went through you, I will make thee an eternal excellency, a joy of many generations. 16. You shall also suck the milk of the Gentiles, and shall suck the breast of kings: and thou shall know that I the Lord am thy Savior and your Redeemer, the mighty One of Jacob. 17. For brass I will bring gold, and for iron I will bring silver, and for wood brass, and for stones iron: I will also make thy officers peace, and your exactors righteousness. 18. Violence shall no more be heard in your land, wasting nor destruction within your borders; but you will call your walls Salvation, and your gates Praise. 19. The sun shall be no more your light by day; neither for brightness shall the moon give light to you: but the Lord shall be to you an everlasting light, and your God your glory. 20. Your sun shall no more go down; neither shall your moon withdraw itself: for the Lord shall be your everlasting light, and the days of your mourning shall be ended. 21. Your people also shall be all righteous: they shall inherit the land for ever, the branch of my planting, the work of my hands, that I may be glorified. 22. A little one shall become a thousand, and a small one a strong nation: I the Lord will hasten it in his time.

Isaiah 60:14. The sons also of them that afflicted you shall come bending to you; and all they that despised you shall bow themselves down at the soles of your feet; and they shall call you; The city of the Lord, The Zion of the Holy One of Israel.

Isaiah 60:11. Therefore your gates shall be open continually; they shall not be shut day nor night; that men may bring to you the wealth of the Gentiles, and that their kings may be brought.
Revelation 21: 25 And the gates of it shall not be shut at all by day: for there shall be no night there. 26 And they shall bring the glory and honor of the nations into it.

Isaiah 60: 19.
Revelation 21: 23 And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof.
Revelation 22: 5 And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall reign for ever and ever.

Isaiah 60:3.
Revelation 21:24 And the nations of them which are saved shall walk in the light of it: and the kings of the earth do bring their glory and honour into it.... 26 And they shall bring the glory and honour of the nations into it.

Isaiah 60: 21. Your people also shall be all righteous: they shall inherit the land for ever, the branch of my planting, the work of my hands, that I may be glorified.
Revelation 21: 27 And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb's book of life.

Hebrews 12: 22 But you (and I) are come to mount Sion, and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels,

Can anyone point out more Old Testament verses and chapters that are like this?

Shalom, Dan!

Sure! I've been studying Yerushalayim haChadashah (the New Jerusalem) for YEARS!

Consider the size of the city, as described in Rev. 21:16: Given that a furlong (the Greek word "stadios" from the Latin "stadium") is about 660 feet, 12,000 furlongs is approximately 1,500 miles! Assuming the New Earth will be about the same size as the present earth, with a 24,902-mile circumference at the equator, if the city lands upon the New Earth (and I have about 18 different reasons for believing that it will), the city will cover (1,500 mi / 24,902 mi) x 360 degrees = 21.685 degrees of the earth's circumference! That means "down" on one side of the city will be 21.685 degrees different than "down" on the other side of the city! Now, revisit Psalm 48:1-14:

Psalm 48:1-14
1 Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised in the city of our God, in the mountain of his holiness.
2 Beautiful for situation, the joy of the whole earth, is mount Zion, on the sides of the north, the city of the great King.
3 God is known in her palaces for a refuge.
4 For, lo, the kings were assembled, they passed by together.
5 They saw it, and so they marvelled; they were troubled, and hasted away.
6 Fear took hold upon them there, and pain, as of a woman in travail.
7 Thou breakest the ships of Tarshish with an east wind.
8 As we have heard, so have we seen in the city of the Lord of hosts, in the city of our God: God will establish it for ever. Selah.
9 We have thought of thy lovingkindness, O God, in the midst of thy temple.
10 According to thy name, O God, so is thy praise unto the ends of the earth: thy right hand is full of righteousness.
11 Let mount Zion rejoice, let the daughters of Judah be glad, because of thy judgments.
12 Walk about Zion, and go round about her: tell the towers thereof.
13 Mark ye well her bulwarks, consider her palaces; that ye may tell it to the generation following.
14 For this God is our God for ever and ever: he will be our guide even unto death.
KJV

This passage CONFUSES the mountain with the city! Understanding that Mount Everest is only 5.5 miles high, wouldn't a city 1,500 miles high be called a "mountain?"

Furthermore, if one takes a straight-line sighting on a globe of 1,500 miles over the coordinates of Jerusalem today on this present earth, such a city would be visible from Norway, Morocco, Ghana, Tanzania, India, Nepal, Western China, Russia, and all the countries in between, and it's light could be seen much farther away than that! The city itself would cover all of Egypt, half of Saudi Arabia, all of Lebanon, Syria, Turkey, Cyprus, half of Greece, Iraq, Kuwait, and portions of Iran, Libya, and the Sudan! It would also cover a fourth of the Mediterranean Sea, a third of the Red Sea, and even border the Black Sea, the Caspian Sea, as well as the Persian Gulf!

By the way, the phrase "on the sides of the north" means "aligned with north." This matches with the fact that the New Jerusalem is also said to be aligned with north:

Rev 21:12-13
12 And had a wall great and high, and had twelve gates, and at the gates twelve angels, and names written thereon, which are the names of the twelve tribes of the children of Israel:
13 On the east three gates; on the north three gates; on the south three gates; and on the west three gates.
KJV

Recognizing that its light (its glory) is that of God through Yeshua` as the "lightbulb," so to speak, we can also consider Isaiah 24:23 to be prophetic of this city:

Rev. 21:23
23 And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof.
KJV

Isa. 24:23
23 Then the moon shall be confounded, and the sun ashamed, when the Lord of hosts shall reign in mount Zion, and in Jerusalem, and before his ancients gloriously.
KJV

The words "confounded" and "ashamed" are personifications. The words, if restricted to translations about objects, might be better rendered "mixed up" and "outdone," respectively. We are told in other passages in the OT that the sun and the moon (as well as the earth) "abide forever." It's just that the city will have no NEED for them. (The rest of the New Earth will probably need them.) However, when God is shining in His full strength, He will outdo the sun and His light, mixed with the light from the sun, will mix up the phases of the moon!

The river that Yechezk'el (Ezekiel) sees in Ezek. 47:1-11 flows from the House of God and brings fresh water to the Dead Sea, allowing life to multiply in abundance there. Also, one can read in Yechezk'el 47:12:

Ezek. 47:12
12 And by the river upon the bank thereof, on this side and on that side, shall grow all trees for meat, whose leaf shall not fade, neither shall the fruit thereof be consumed: it shall bring forth new fruit according to his months, because their waters they issued out of the sanctuary: and the fruit thereof shall be for meat, and the leaf thereof for medicine.
KJV

These may be compared to Rev. 22:1-2:

Rev. 22:1-2
1 And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb.
2 In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.
KJV

By the way, did you know that the word "heavenly" in Hebrews 12:22 is the Greek word "epouranios?" It's a compound word consisting of "epi," meaning "above," and "ouranios," meaning "of or belonging to the sky." Together, it means "of or belonging to above the sky" or "from outer space!"

In the Messiah's love,
Roy

Is it not written, My house shall be called a house of prayer for all the nations?" The strangers that join themselves to the Lord.... even them will I bring to my holy mountain, and make them joyful in my house of prayer for my house shall be called a house of prayer for all people." The city shall be built to the Lord from the tower of Hananeel to the gate of the corner. And the measuring line shall go straight onward unto the hill Gareb And the whole valley of the dead bodies, and of the ashes, and all the fields unto the brook Kidron shall be holy unto the Lord; it shall not be plucked up, nor thrown down any more for ever.

How about this one, Isaiah 54?

1 “Shout for joy, O barren one who has not given birth! Give a joyful shout and cry out, you who have not been in labor! For the children of the desolate one are more numerous than the children of the married woman,” says the LORD. 2 Make your tent larger, stretch your tent curtains farther out! spare no effort, strengthen your ropes, and pound your stakes deep. 3 For you will spread out to the right and to the left; your children will conquer nations and will resettle desolate cities. 4 Don’t be afraid, for you will not be put to shame! Don’t be intimidated, for you will not be humiliated! You will forget about the shame you experienced in your youth; you will no longer remember the disgrace of your abandonment. 5 For your husband is the one who made you – the LORD who commands armies is his name. He is your protector, the Holy One of Israel. He is called “God of the entire earth.” 6 “Indeed, the LORD will call you back like a wife who has been abandoned and suffers from depression, like a young wife when she has been rejected,” says your God. 7 “For a short time I abandoned you, but with great compassion I will gather you. 8 In a burst of anger I rejected you momentarily, but with lasting devotion I will have compassion on you,” says your protector, the LORD. 9 “As far as I am concerned, this is like in Noah’s time, when I vowed that the waters of Noah’s flood would never again cover the earth. In the same way I have vowed that I will not be angry at you or shout at you. 10 Even if the mountains are removed and the hills displaced, my devotion will not be removed from you, nor will my covenant of friendship be displaced,” says the LORD, the one who has compassion on you. 11 “O afflicted one, driven away, and unconsoled! Look, I am about to set your stones in antimony and I lay your foundation with lapis-lazuli. 12 I will make your pinnacles out of gems, your gates out of beryl, and your outer wall out of beautiful stones. 13 All your children will be followers of the LORD, and your children will enjoy great prosperity. 14 You will be reestablished when I vindicate you. You will not experience oppression; indeed, you will not be afraid. You will not be terrified, for nothing frightening will come near you. 15 If anyone dares to challenge you, it will not be my doing! Whoever tries to challenge you will be defeated. 16 Look, I create the craftsman, who fans the coals into a fire and forges a weapon. I create the destroyer so he might devastate. 17 No weapon forged to be used against you will succeed; you will refute everyone who tries to accuse you. This is what the LORD will do for his servants – I will vindicate them,” says the LORD.

Paul declares (you could say an Apostolic declaration) that Isaiah 54 is prophesying about the New Jerusalem.
Galatians 4:26 But the Jerusalem above is free, and she is our mother. 27 For it is written:
“Rejoice, O barren woman who does not bear children;
break forth and shout, you who have no birth pains,
because the children of the desolate woman are more numerous
than those of the woman who has a husband.”

There is more than just the declaration though.
Isaiah 54:5 For your husband is the one who made you
Revelation 21:9 “Come, I will show you the bride, the wife of the Lamb!” 10 So he took me away in the Spirit to a huge, majestic mountain and showed me the holy city, Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God.

Isaiah 54:11 Look, I am about to set your stones in antimony and I lay your foundation with lapis-lazuli. 12 I will make your pinnacles out of gems, your gates out of beryl, and your outer wall out of beautiful stones.
Revelation 21: 19 The foundations of the city’s wall are decorated with every kind of precious stone. The first foundation is jasper, the second sapphire, the third agate, the fourth emerald, 20 the fifth onyx, the sixth carnelian, the seventh chrysolite, the eighth beryl, the ninth topaz, the tenth chrysoprase, the eleventh jacinth, and the twelfth amethyst. 21 And the twelve gates were twelve pearls; every several gate was of one pearl:
Ephesians 2: 20 because you have been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the cornerstone

Isaiah 54:13 All your children will be followers of the LORD, and your children will enjoy great prosperity.
Revelation 21:24 And the nations of them which are saved shall walk in the light of it: and the kings of the earth do bring their glory and honor into it.... 26 And they shall bring the glory and honor of the nations into it.

Now there is allot more that can be pointed out. The verses in Isaiah 54 match allot verses in Isaiah 60. (Plus lots of other verses prophesying the New Jerusalem.)
