I been this emptiness lately. I want to turn back to God but I am worried that I am going to be let down again. If that happen I don't think I could stay as as Christian. I just need to work on many things.... I wondering if anyone would care to try to help or anything like that.

What do you mean by "let down again?" It might help to begin there.

Wayne what you are experiencing right now is spiritual warfare. When you wander away from God, you walk right into Satan's trap and the way the devil works is by giving you a spirit of worthlessness and fear/shame. Are you worried that God will let you down or that you won't measure up to God's standards?

If it's the latter then it's a tool by the enemy meant to keep you in sin and away from God. I am speaking from experience and it is IMPOSSIBLE to overcome without God's help. I wish I could personally help you but knowing what I know, I won't lead you to believe that it is something that is easily overcome. There are certain things I deal with daily and what keeps me strong is God's word and talking to God privately about everything I am feeling.

Anyone that tells you that you are meant to have a prosperous and easy life is NOT of Christ.
Living for God is NOT an easy life and we aren't called to an easy life. Jesus says it all here:

Luke 9:23
[sup]23[/sup] Then he said to them all: "Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me"

Jesus carried a huge and heavy cross uphill after he had been severely flogged. Thanks to him we don't have to physically do that but it gives us an idea of what we are to expect as children of God. Nothing in this life will be easy and for many it will be a daily struggle against sin. The closer you get to God, the easier it gets. God knows we, as fallen humans, have limits and that's why he says "deny ourselves" because our flesh will always work against our spiritual side.

Ask God for help trusting him and ask him to reveal himself to you in a way that only you will understand. I am living proof that he WILL do it if you open your heart and have faith in him.

Feel free to pm me if you want to talk further, Wayne.
God Bless :)

Gods door is always open, and the way to walk through it is always the same...it never changes. He teaches us how to walk through that door by his word and the way to walk through it is by applying the bible in your life.

to apply it, you must first learn it and learn it well so you know what you must do. And you will know what aspects of your life are preventing you from having a close relationship with God because he tells you what he will and wont accept. If you try to bring your life into harmony with his requirements, he will bless you, but if you dont, then you havnt begun to walk through that open door.

Remember BAD...

B - Backbone
A - Attitude
D - Direction

I came here to VA with a 69 Buick (which I gave a few hundred dollars for), a suitcase with clothes, and $500. I prayed and asked God for a job and got a job working as a lead plater operator. I was laid off and often left the place feeling that I would never return. Well. the times got better and I moved up in the lab and got a couple of associate degrees in a IT field. So God is good. Looking back on my life I wish I would have had more faith!

what do you want him to do?

actually, just to add... God asks us to do things too, do you do the things he asks of you? Relationships are a two way street...you cant expect to take but not give. And we have the example of Isreal and of how God would not listen to them when they asked for things if they were not doing the things he asked of them.

When God doesn't do anything is usually when I find (in hindsight) that was the absolute best thing for Him to do at the time. Right now I have been under-employed for almost 2 years now (full time reduced to part time). The savings is all but gone, my health and age don't make me a prime candidate in a flooded field of applicants for the position I am qualified for. Interview after interview have gotten no offers tendered. One kid is a 13 year old autistic son, the other is an iron willed girl of 9. My wife is disabled from a botched ankle surgery and I have two severely arthritic knees and liver disease.

But today at evening grace before supper I prayed that I am trusting the Lord for His providence in my life, not anxiously but enthusiastically and with anticipation.

I may lose the house. I have already sold the car, lots of silver dollars I had collected as a youth, and Christmas will be sparse this year. But God is unhindered in His plan for me and my family. And I am thankful that my earnest prayers for intervention have gone unheeded up to now because with each unfulfilled request is another victory on my part. How? If God would somehow interrupt His design for me and relent to my desires I am sure the outcome would be disastrous!

I know personally a family that won a giant jackpot in the local lottery... in the millions. Their prayers were answered. 2 years later the husband and wife are divorced, the children divided between them (bitterly) and both are working full time jobs again.

Don't be disappointed at what you don't get or feel you deserve, especially from God. Only experience will bring understanding, and only actually enduring through the trials brings experience.

Sorry to not be so upbeat and cheery as others may be. But the God I know and serve is much greater than my "felt needs", and (I truly believe this), God bringing Glory to Himself is a much greater good than my temporary suffering.

you have a wonderful attitude biggandyy... i hope things look up for you soon, and if not, keep enduring with joy.

man. i just want to encourage you. read the bible when youre feeling this. and when youre not! it is truth and god gave it to us by his grace so that we can have help :) god loves you. he hasnt forgotten you. i would agree that it is spiritual warfare. if we choose to believe in god, if we choose to trust him, if we choose to follow him, we are his children. god loves you wayne! however the enemy doesnt like you drawing near to god. that could be a possible reason for you feeling/ thinking these things. but dont be afraid. god has strength to give you. you are not alone in this. im also praying that god reveals his perfect fatherly love to you. i keep thinking of romans 8 28- "and we know that for those who love god all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose." i dont know. im praying that regardless of circumstances, you seek truth, that you trust him, that you would believe that he is good. that you would enjoy him. go to him and tell him the things in your heart and tell him about your unbelief. ask him to help you through the unbelief. dont be afraid to cry out to him. go closer to him, he wont reject you!! he is the one who loves you. glad youre here wayne and im glad you have not given up! praying for endurance and light over you!

keep reading the book book of Job... take note of why Job was being tested and by whom in chapter 1.

We are all Job right now and for as long as Satan is ruling the world of mankind...he's trying to trip us up every day and he makes life hard for us in the hope that we will turn away from God and blame God for our sufferings. But we have to rise above it and worship God regardless of whether we have everything we want because by pleasing God, we will receive his blessing in the future with an eternal life filled with all the goodness that you desire.

(what pegg said! truth!)

man. yeah. i know what you mean. i dont know. i think that we are called to trust him because he is trustworthy. and he is good. he is the one who reigns. i dont think that because we are christians everything is going to be sunshiney and rainbows. ha. like, its hard. being a follower of christ isnt easy. we are walking the narrow road.

but! that road we walk is the road to eternity. try to hear, read, or speak the gospel everyday! its easy to forget. we need to be reminded all the time! jesus died on a tree all because of love, is now alive, and is coming back for his bride. (the church!)

his yoke is easy and his burden is light, my friend

Why would he want to test us if we already gave our self? What's the point.

Same reason the math teacher tests us after the lesson is presented. It's one thing to hear the Word, it's another thing to put it into practice.

I can read all I want about brain surgery... but would you want me to do it on you or someone who has actually done the procedure hundreds of times?

We can give ourselves to God in our heart.. but it is another thing when we have to live out the consequences of that decision in this sinful and dark world.

be blessed biggandyy. yeah. what andy said. and he tests us because he can. like, because hes holy. and we cant question his authority. (its difficult for humans to submit to his authority because we are rebellious in nature i believe.) hes glad im sure that youre seeking & finding answers to questions. i dont mean to sound harsh. im just trying to sort of help bring some kind of clarity. i dont know if we can fully understand. our minds are small compared to his. man. i went through exactly this this past winter. it was terrible. i really feel for you. im hoping that god really truly reveals himself to you. if you have questions, im totally willing to help in any way i can. blessings.
