Brave woman.

I liked this article linked in the above one.

How Queen Elizabeth freaked out a Saudi king while driving him around in a Land Rover

At that time it was illegal for Saudi women to drive. Violation of that law was a death penalty offense. If caught on the road she'd be pulled from her car and beheaded.

But King Abdullah got in the car with Elizabeth while visiting her in Scotland. Brave man.

Women were legally allowed to drive in Saudi Arabia in 2018. They were also allowed to enter stadiums and watch football [soccer].

Strong women can help change the world.

Our Queen was a very dignified lady but she wasn't standoffish or afraid to get her hands dirty or wash up - which she did when at Balmoral. She was a simple person away from all the fuss and palaver of her official role.

I think that last photo of her taken at Balmoral. It depicted a lady dressed in a simple tartan skirt and plain simple blouse and cardigan; a humble person born into privileged circumstances that she couldn't change.

What we were all used to seeing - those colourful outfits with their matching hats - were to her a uniform she wore in public life just as a member of the armed forces wore their uniform when on duty so did Queen Elizabeth.

She was happiest when with her horses or dogs in private surroundings. A lady who didn't put on airs and graces but was naturally compassionate.

It's Latin. F.D. stands for "Fidei Defensor" ("Defender of the Faith" in Latin)
You would think it would be in Germanic, English is a Germanic language not Latin.

Thanks for your help.

No it's Latin.
Latin is the word of God ? one could say, like medical practices Doctors etc used Latin and Law for it's detail, one would have to learn Latin or one would not pass to be a Doctor or such medical professional, English is backward Gibberish where one can be mistaken so easy.

Latin is a foundation for a lot of German and English etc etc.

Many People nowadays claim that classical Latin is a dead language  as in finished or rubbish or not worthy  but that is a work of the Devil that is peddling that out right lie !
Latin is only called dead because it does not change ! it can't change like English can on a whim in turning 180 deg with rubbish bastardising the word once truly meant totally. Latin can not do that because it describes, it's not nick names that are just made up for things or gibberish.

Wicked ! is just one word where the word has been bastardised totally nowadays, it ones described horror of something, but now it's used by morons to describe their joy of such ? so the Devil is in the detail, the workings, so as to bastardise a generation ? so one reading the Bible would come across the word Wicked ? and think such is cool good etc but it's not in fact at all, so the art of deception was on the public who did not call it out and let it slide. Same with Anti-Semitic ? how does that translate in Latin ? it does not, nor does it truly in English, if one is not indoctrinated into such hogwash. one who is educated on the subject will pick up on the intention of the bastardisation of such words that was polluted by such cunning devils.

she had a long life and was successful and kind. I will miss her. condolescences to the family who must want her to live forever and have developed an emotional bond to her and I hope she rests in peace, finally since old age brings on more burdens I think for most people. I think she died a natural death?

@Blue Dragonfly's it was so moving watching that this afternoon as her coffin was carried on a gun carriage to lie in state in the ancient and historic Westminster Hall.

To put in in perspective that was where Ann Boleyn was tried and Charles I and Guy Fawkes. It was then the parliament building.

For Elizabeth
Lay still your tongues and bow your heads,
lower the flags, our Queen is dead.
Put down your work, set games aside, silence the songs, our Queen has died.
Stand in the streets, pause in the rush, think of her now, amid the hush;
in the time before the tribute drum,
‘til the bugles call and the eulogies come.
Hold back the words, make no speeches today,
reflect on the debt we may never repay.
A beacon of light, a life lived well,
give thanks for our Queen, toll the mourning bell.
Grieve now a while, let the Nations weep, for our greatest Queen in her final sleep.
Then raise up your hearts, let her legacy sing,
Great Britain unite and stand by our King.
The future is ours in a world made bright, by the strength of her love and eternal light.

Emotional for sure. She planned it all well before she died.

I like her motto throughout her reign. ''I have to be seen to be believed.''

You were indeed dear lady.
Rest in peace now. Lay your crown at your Lord's feet, with your precious Corgis at heel, and Phillip by your side.
May our Lord say to you, well done my good and faithful servant.

Well done indeed ma'am. Well done indeed.

[This was a story extracted from my FB Feed]

A funny and true story about the Queen:

Around 2005, the Queen and her Personal Protection Officer, Dick Griffin, were walking alone one afternoon in the hills near the Scottish royal castle, Balmoral.

Two tourists approached them, and engaged in conversation. Griffin recalls:
"There were two hikers coming towards us, and the Queen would always stop and say hello.
"They were two Americans on a walking holiday.

"It was clear from the moment we stopped that they hadn't recognised the Queen, which was fine.

"The American gentleman was telling the Queen where they came from, where they were going next, and where they'd been in Britain.
"I could see it coming, and sure enough, he said to Her Majesty: 'And where do you live?'
"She replied: 'Well I live in London, but I've got a holiday home just the other side of the hills.'

"He said: 'How long have you been coming up here?'
"She replied: 'I've been coming up here ever since I was a little girl, so over 80 years.'
"You could see the cogs whirring, so he said: 'Well, if you've been coming up here for over 80 years, you must have met the Queen.'
"Quick as a flash, she said: 'I haven't, but Dick here meets her regularly.'

The hiker then asked Griffin what the monarch was like in person.
"Because I was with her a long time, and I knew I could pull her leg, I said: 'Oh, she can be very cantankerous at times, but she's got a lovely sense of humour.'
"The next thing I knew, this guy comes round, puts his arm around my shoulder, and before I could see what was happening, he gets his camera, GIVES IT TO THE QUEEN, and says: 'Can you take a picture of the two of us?'

Then we swapped places, and I TOOK A PICTURE OF THEM WITH THE QUEEN.
"And we never let on, and we waved goodbye.
"Afterwards, Her Majesty said to me: 'I'd love to be a fly on the wall when he shows those photographs to his friends in America, and hopefully someone tells him who I am'."
RIP, Your Majesty

I was working today but management decided that we could stop work at 11:00 and watch the funeral with the residents until 1:00 if we wanted to, if we carried on working we were not allowed to use the hoover but work with out making too much noise. I chose to watch the funeral.
I found ‘ The Lord is my Shepherd’ emotional because I have chosen that for my dads funeral tomorrow , but also when the minister quoted Vera Lynne ‘ We’ll meet again ‘…..my dad left me and my brother a letter, it started with the same quote ……..
