When Jesus said, “there is none good but one, that is, God.” did He mean nobody could be good?

The word Godhead in the King James Bible means Trinity (Which is wrongfully removed in Modern Bibles).

Romans 1:20 says,
“For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:”

What invisible things within the creation declare the Godhead (or Trinity)?

An atom. They are three and yet one.
Electrons, protons, and neutrons and yet they an atom is singular.

H20. Water molecule. Three and yet one.
Hey hey I like the use of nature, three leaf clover, yet the odd ball four leaf is man lol..

Again, I honestly don't care to debate with you (as I said before).
You are never going to see it no matter Scripture is brought forth.
I accept that... providing you accept I will correct your misrepresentation of Christ's word at every opportunity, as he did the rich young ruler wrongly calling him good!

Nothing wrong with your OP - only that your "donkey" like approach to being led by the Spirit into the Lords teaching is the issue. You know what to do Exodus 13:13.

It's getting crazier....from Superman to the Atom - but lets not use Christ's reasoning upon Psalms 16:2 - madness I say madness!
I am seeing Matthew 16:7 unfold before my eyes.
And you are blind to it!
Aww let me see the child in you, have a little fun my friend

I believe Jesus (the Word who is God) took on the flesh of a human (John 1:1) (John 1:14). Jesus said he came down from Heaven (John 6:38). 1 Corinthians 15:47 says, “The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven.” The second man is Jesus who is the Lord from heaven. Who is the Lord from Heaven? God. Conclusion: Jesus is God.
No no no...again you draw to the wrong conclusion...but I sense you do not want to know the truth of the matter...something tells me your mind is shut up real tight...plus its not good to cast pearls before swine...especially if they willingly reject His teaching.
Psalms 16:2 cmp Psalms 16:10
Have you worked it out?

I'm all for fun...it's concerning how far Christians will go from Christ to try and understand things he has already shown us. I mean nowhere in this thread has anyone raised Psalms 16:2 which is the very place Jesus had his thoughts when speaking to the rich young ruler and even the author of the OP resists to their own hurt.- It's like the door has a sign, "open to receive truth", and he wont even reach forth his hand to turn the handle.
It's perplexing as I can see how they have set themselves up to fail.
Very sad...I just cant find the humor to be honest.

So in keeping with the OP and the question at hand what was the answer to the rich young rulers question?

What good thing could he do?
What did the Teacher provide in the end?

Mark 10:21

Jesus fixed his gaze upon the young man - can you see it? That's what it means that Jesus beheld him, or Jesus "looked"at him - not just an empty stare readers...no, Jesus looked into him...not with judgement now! He had already rebuked him for misunderstanding who Jesus was! Now Jesus gazed into him in love.

You know its coming right? If the author of the OP asked Jesus this question we know he has been rebuked / corrected in righteousness but now there is love for him!

It's so rare in the record as to what happens next!

he “Loved him” - ‘agapao’ - it's only used of the Apostle John in John 13:23 and the family at Bethany in John 11:5. A warning

Just because Jesus looked at him with love this did not guarantee his future!

There was ONE THING he lacked!

If as Matthew 19:21 suggests “if he wanted to be perfect”...in his zeal the rich young ruler wanted “one good thing” - well here it is!!

This now bears on the FIRST commandment.

1. “Give to the poor”
- his life was one of “doing” - now he must “give”!
God did this in John 3:16 – Jesus was rich but became ‘poor’ for us as per 2 Corinthians 8:9.
2. “Take up the cross” - everyone has their particular ‘cross’ - this was his!

Carrying his cross was the crowning act of obedience for the Lord as per Philippians 2:8

3. “And follow me” -

So pertinent at this time and ours.

So in conclusion, there is one thing for all of us, if we want to do that good thing; for the rich young ruler it was to sell all that he had to give to the poor and share in the burden of crucifying the flesh, along with Christ as per Galatians 5:24 otherwise there would be no entrance into his glory.

Unfortunately the story ends on a sad note:

Mark 10:22

He went away sad.

in the Greek in means ‘to be gloomy’ - He received Christs initial rebuke but the one thing he sought would be the hardest of all and the only good thing that he could do was to give and follow.

So in answering the OP - that one thing is different for us all - we know what stands in the way of us following him, we just need to do that one thing and live.

And why do you suppose he couldn’t say he was God?

People say it unreservedly these days.

What are the consequences of Jesus announcing he’s God?

Especially when some tie this in with salvation?
Even a prophet can't claim himself a prophet.
The Incarnation is something only heaven can reveal. No one will believe an earthly source. No one can know Jesus unless they be drawn by the Father.

If Jesus wasn't perfect He couldn't say "follow me".
If Jesus never sinned how does one know whether or not He is Good? Was what He did good because He did it? Did He choose good from evil like we do.

Why wouldn't Jesus accept the title of Good Teacher?
Why would Jesus state openly that no one is good but God?
He didn't reject it. Saying that only God is Good is not the same as saying " I am not good" and"I am' not God".. You need to add that.
The rich man was being drawn to Jesus. It's likely He was recognizing Christ's divinity.
He could say to Jesus' face " I have obeyed the commandments" . Not easy to do.
Jesus loved him for that and his obedience to the Law.

Stop running :running:and receive!
Why wouldn't Jesus accept the title of Good Teacher?

None, no one, not a single being besides Yahweh has inherent Goodness and Mark 10:18 proves that among many other passages.
Don't respond with special pleading give me Scriptural substance! Romans 3:10 cmp Psalms 14:1-3
Be still Eloycraft and accept the engrafted Word.
You don't understand the proper use of scripture. For Scripture to be authoritative agreement on interpretation is required. The psalms you post don't mean to me what they mean to you. You should know Scripture is not a useful tool to convert those who don't believe what you believe.

That means something yeah?

Hebrews 2:10 For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings.

Hence his rejection of being called good.

How long will you resist truth?

Lol...the Rich young ruler was seeking approval for his lavish life!!! What he got was rebuke on every level!
If you are trying to convince people here that a zealot of the law believed in the trinity, which wasn't formulated for hundreds of years later, you are kidding yourself! And as for his divinity even after his ascension he stills calls himself the Son of David from his root! Revelation 22:16...
But you cant speak to that because it doesn't fit your bias.
Plenty of insight has been provided if you go back and read, study, meditate on Psalms 16 where Jesus had his thoughts.
You never did explain Psalms 16:2 cmp Psalms 16:10.
Maybe you follow Highlighter?

So you cant speak to Psalms 16:2 either wow willing ignorance is on display in this thread!
What's wrong with you Highlighter?
The Lord is leading you into truth and you want to run from it?
I couldn't care less what you think you have proved in that link - you cant even reach the understanding of this young man in Mark 10:18, so how on earth can you define the Godhead?
If you can't acknowledge Jesus is quoting Psalms 16:2 and let alone speak to that Psalm what good is your OP?
You might as well start an OP on a best selling novel.
Sad to see how far Christians have fallen.
F2F
Jesus was not quoting Psalms 16:2. That's a sinners acknowledgement of God as the source of good. Clever to teach that Jesus is a sinner for teaching the same.
Jesus isn't allowed to teach that if He is God?

This is a desperate attempt to deflect the topic at hand.

If you cant see Jesus simple lesson which points to God as the supreme example of goodness and the source of all good things, including the commandments which are stated in Mark 10:19 and the commands in Mark 10:21 you ignorant blind and naked. Throughout his entire life Jesus was concerned only with exalting the One True God.

Ok tell me what David was saying psalm 16:2?
The Psalm is Messianic yes?
It's ultimate fulfillment is in Christ yes?

Psalms 16:2 I say to the Lord, “You are the Lord, my only source of well-being (goodness).”

It means Christ had no source of goodness without His God.

He is the Holy One of God's providing!

Jesus needed God's protection yes? Psalms 16:1
Jesus' future was secure because of His Father Psalms 16:5
Jesus when he died didn't see corruption due to his sinlessness Psalms 16:10.

It all speaks to Hebrews 5:7 - Jesus was like is held to slavery of death and relied on His God to save him.

No different to us!...hence he is called the first fruits of them that sleep.

He is not God in any way!

And in terms of the OP the answer to whether we can do good has been answer by the example of the rich young rulre Mark 10:18-22

He was well pleasing to His Father but not perfected until his final obedience.
You have me repeating myself now - he was being made perfect - a process with an end objective.
Perfect through suffering!

Interesting some rich men was disciples

Matthew 27:57
When it was evening, there came a rich man from Arimathea, named Joseph, who also was a disciple of Jesus.
