Ephesians 3:14 For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
[15] Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named,

Hebrews 1:4 Being made so much better than the angels, as he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they.

The name that the 2 verses single out is "Jesus".

Jesus simply inherited his name from his Father(creator).

This means "Jesus" was his Father's unrevealed OT name, which was handed down to him, similar to what we fathers do to our sons.

This is the reason the name of Jesus was given as the highest name(it was God's name too).

This is also the reason repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name, beginning at Jerusalem...

Acts 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

We also inherit Jesus' name when we put on Christ via baptism, we take on his name, like a wife takes her husbands name.

'Closing the gate after the horse has bolted' What is this reference to? poor animal management or is it telling us something unrelated to husbandry?

In like manner....God's name, is it about picking one from the names available on a list or is it talking of something else?
You might want to check out this: Exodus 34:5-7 which defines 'his name'

The name of God is "Jesus" as "Jesus" was inherited from the son of God's Father per Hebrews 1:4.

The other OT names are no match compared to the Father's actual NT name of "Jesus".

This is also why there is no other name for God in the NT given, as compared to the OT.(in the NT, all you see is "God" or "Father", unlike the OT names)

The name was kept secret until the NT. Joseph and Mary both received separate(personal) Divine instructions to name him Jesus. He made known to us his name - so why do many deny his name? it is the name of salvation.

Have you taken his name? If so, how?

I do not understand your question. Perhaps you could clarify it. thanks
He was wondering how you took the name for yourself?

For instance, I had the name of Jesus verbally pronounced over me at my baptism as I was being immersed.

Is this what happened in your case?

The subject matter is/was God's name. My position is that the meaning of God's name is not Harry, Bill, Gregory or and other name one pulls from a list whether English or Hebrew. God's name is his character ie, what his reality consists of. Exodus 34:5-7 gives us a window into this. Here it is quoted:

5 And the Lord descended in the cloud, and stood with him there, and proclaimed the name of the Lord.
6 And the Lord passed by before him, and proclaimed, The Lord, The Lord God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth,
7 Keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and that will by no means clear the guilty; visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the children's children, unto the third and to the fourth generation.

We dont put on Christ when we get water baptized.
God puts the righteousness of Christ on US, when we give God our faith, that is proven by being Born again.

The name of God that God revealed to us in the NT is Jesus.

I suggest that you advance to Matt 1 in your reading.

For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.

His name was to be a Greek name/Iesous/Jesus....

21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus: for he shall save his people from their sins.
