According to Bono, we are actually at the point in advancement and treatment of AIDS where we can get ahead of the curve through treatment of women, especially pregnant women and stop the spread of this disease. Within 20 years of stopping the spread, it is possible to wipe it out completely. If this really is possible, perhaps the stigma of the disease (God's judgment on homosexuals) will die out too. BTW, George W. Bush actually did 100x more to make this possible than any other President in history. Very exciting!

Isn't Bono a singer?

Yes. He is also an AIDS activist. He lobbies different countries and has created a product line in the fight to find a cure for AIDS

I am a Christian Activist yet I am not quoted in the media about winning souls to Christ.

I think because he is popular he is perceived as credible, not because of any real knowledge in the area. He is a mouthpiece masquerading as an authority.

He would agree with you that he is only listened to because of his fame. He regularly calls himself simply a spoiled rock star. I believe he does know a great deal about the issue though. I also think it is great that he is using his fame to promote important causes - he is not burying his talents

I'm not sure I understand your line of thought here aspen. I agree that it would be great to have a cure to AIDS, but to think that it's exciting that we've circumvented Gods judgement for homosexuality, um not so exciting. When my boy thinks he's clever enough to circumvent a time out by binging all his toys into time out with him, it usually goes down much worse for him.....

Hi Aspen,

Your post presumes that AIDS is like something inherited. However, the evidence suggests that it's a behavior. As such, people who have it, spread it to other primarily by sex or needles. Thus treating women is CLEARLY not the solution.

Do ya think "Bono" may have a different agenda than the truth of the matter?

I think all viruses and bacteria are spread through bodily fluid exchange. AIDS is a virus not a behavior. It is superstitious to believe that God created disease to punish behavior.

I think people in the OT certainly attributed plagues and famines to God. The OT is filled with examples of primitive humans attributing all kinds of horrible things to God and coming up with intentions behind the events. When people tried to attribute sin to the blind man in the NT, Jesus pointed out that personal sin was not responsible for the man's condition.

The Bible is the Word of God written from human perspective.

AIDS would not be a problem if all people did the right thing by God.
Man can tamper with things like that but he will never be in charge.

sin would not be a problem either.......

dwelling on what should be instead of focusing on what is isn't helpful

How can I do that when you claim the Bible is written by men???

How can you you take it up with God? You might want to try prayer.....

I am sorry, did I strip your book of it's Godhood? You know, it really is a book, not a deity, and it really was written by human hands......God chose to reveal His plan for us using human hands and filtering it through human minds and experience.

Worrying about whether events REALLY happened exactly as they are written down in the Bible is missing the message in many of the inspired fictional tales. No one even asked the question 'did Jonah REALLY live inside a whale for three days?' until after the Enlightenment - they were too busy thinking about the point of the story.

Don't worry - everything included in the Bible is inspired by God and is supposed to be there.

You have so very little understanding of the Bible...

That has to be it, right? Disagree with Andy and choose willful ignorance.....

Oh the naked narcissism...

You miss the point. Your source suggested that a cure for women is the solution, and I would observe that it's not the women who are the problem. It's the homosexuals who transmit the greater portion of the virus, and are the greater problem. As such, curing women is an insignificant contributor.

Secondly, you suggest that there is no penalty for sin, which I would equally disagree. As ~proof~, I would suggest that whatever the ~sin~ the penalty is a degree of death. And Isaiah cites that during the Millennial Kingdom that without the tempter, we shall be less susceptible to that penalty:

Isaiah 65:20
[sup]20[/sup] ... the one who dies at a hundred
will be thought a mere child;
the one who fails to reach a hundred
will be considered accursed.

And so it is not "superstition" that when we sin, there is a penalty, -- be it in the form of general deterioration of our mortal bodies or a specific contagion. And in fact, I would argue that it is superstitious to deny that if an individual did not participate in such a life style (being homosexuals exchanging body fluids, or liver failure due to drinking, or lung failure due to smoking), none the those ailments would occur without those choices. For GOD did not simply suggest to the residents of Sodom that they are ~bad~, but HE destroyed them and those who yearned for that society (i.e., Lot's wife).

So it's clearly within the realm of GOD to bring destruction in other venues as HIS hand is not shortened by our preferences.

Actually, the population who is most at risk are women in Africa, whose husbands are cheating with other women or men. Also, women's anatomy puts them at greater risk than men.
