Suppose a nation invades another country to spread the gospel, would that be okay? I mean, such an invasion could Christianize pagans quickly and effectively. A Christian Afghanistan is better than an Islamic Afghanustan, right?

Discuss.

You're not proposing to invade the Lord of the Flies... you are talking about murdering people in a mistaken attempt to convert them to Christianity.

It was tried that a few hundred years ago... did not work out that well as I recall... about as well as Islam is today. Praising Allah by the point of a gun is no praise at all.

The gospel of Christ will never be spread at the end of a sword.

This discussion is a waste of time.

Countries invade other countries for their own self-interest.

And who would be the ones doing the invading and supporting it......Christians? And how is that any better than pagans doing the same? I would say that questions like what you asked comes from a lack of knowledge of God's plan and what He is doing. This lack of knowledge for the most part usually comes from not studying the Bible.

So it would seem that what you want us to discuss is your lack of understanding of the scriptures.

The gospel of Christ will never be spread at the end of a sword.

This discussion is a waste of time.

I never thought that using an invasion could be asked as a justification for spreading the gospel, after what was done to Native peoples around the world with the blessings of the Roman Catholic Church. And to some extent what was done to Native Americans by the Europeans that came to this Country. But at the same time it does not surprise me.

A child may rebel, but if you discipline him he may soon come to see the light.

Are you comparing a Nation full of adults to children? And who do you know that use bombs and guns to discipline a child? And do you realize that when the Bible speaks of discipline a child that it is talking about the parents’ own child and not someone else’s child?

Your hypothetical question is naive and uninformed.

Let's talk facts, shall we? According to the US government, there is NO LONGER any organized church in Afghanistan. Neither is there ANY Christian training facility of any kind.

What has the uS army accomplished in that distant land? Lots of bombs dropped. Lots of military spending on all sorts of things, most of which has gone into the pockets of the corrupt politicians there.

The major financial export of Afghanistan is the poppy. You know, the type that is used for heroin? Drugs. Major drugs.

As a result of American intervention in Afghanistan we've got LESS Christianity than before, MORE dead civilians and innocent American boys who entered service thinking they were doing good and ended up killing unarmed civilians like NAZI thugs*.

Go back to your comic books and ethereal contemplations of what the world MIGHT be like. Christianity is promoted by peace and kindness, not at the end of a gun and the threat of a bombing run by a robot plane. That's the Muslim way except they don't have to resort to those tactics when the inhabitants of the land run into their arms out of fear of the Americans.

America doesn't stand for truth, justice or Christ any more. This is a post-constitutional country now. We don't even have the law to protect us. The only thing we've got now is Jesus and Him crucified. We'd better realize that and real soon because its going to get worse. A lot worse.

* * *

* Military trial just completed for a young man who led his platoon into killing 25 unarmed women and children. His punishment? 90 days suspended imprisonment. The ruling excused the behavior because his men were "upset at the horrors of war". GIVE ME A BREAK!

The OP may largely have been a troll, however, his question does raise some interesting moral dilemmas. What is to be gained by all of these American led invasions in the Middle East? Cui bono? (who benefits?)

Is our domestic safety any more assured? How did the US attacks in support of Muslim Albania against Christian Serbia help our cause? Now that Iraq has been defeated and we control many regions of the Persian Gulf has the price of gasoline gone down? Since the poppy fields of Afghanistan are secured do you expect that the price of pain killers will decrease substantially? Do such military invasions help or hinder the Gospel of Jesus Christ? And if they do in fact hinder, why are so many Christians supportive of these Constitutionally undeclared wars? If we are so concerned that Iran might develop nuclear weapons in the Middle East region, why is nothing said about eliminating Israel's vast arsenal of nuclear weapons?

Before the US invasion of Iraq, Sadam Hussein actually appointed a Christian as a high-level advisor and close confidant. What chance do you think that a Christian has now to be appointed a high post in Iraq?

From Wikipedia:

Tariq Aziz (Arabic: طارق عزيز‎ Ṭāriq ʿAzīz, : Mikhail Yuhanna (Syriac: ܡܝܟܐܝܠ ܝܘܚܢܢ Mīḵāil Yōḥānon, Arabic: ميخائيل يوحنا‎ Mīḫāʾīl Yūḥannā baptized Manuel Christo; born 28 April 1936) was the Foreign Minister (1983 – 1991) and Deputy Prime Minister (1979 – 2003) of Iraq and a close advisor of former President Saddam Hussein. Their association began in the 1950s when both were activists for the then-banned Arab Socialist Ba'ath Party. He is an ethnic Assyrian and a member of the Chaldean Catholic Church.
Because of security concerns, Hussein rarely left Iraq, so Aziz would often represent Iraq at high-level diplomatic summits. What the United States wanted, he averred, was not "regime change" in Iraq but rather "region change". He summed up the Bush Administration's reasons for war against Iraq tersely: "oil and Israel."[sup][1][/sup]

What is to be gained? A great question to be sure. Where can we find an answer?

How about a show of hands by those who still believe there really is such a thing as "the war on terror"? Can we win such a shadowy objective?

Maybe if we eliminate the obvious media propaganda we can begin to guess the purpose of these invasions.
