-- Agreed.

Casting Crowns has a song called "Slow Fade" and the very first line is:

"Be careful little eyes what you see
It's the second glance that ties your hands as darkness pulls the strings."

I think that sums it up perfectly....

Lust is the opposite of trust. It is desiring and manipulation to get in our own strength rather than asking and relying on God.

From whence come wars and fightings among you? come they not hence, even of your lusts that war in your members? Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not. Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts. Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.

-- There is nothing in that song that says it is focused on 'married adults.' Nothing.

The song is Jesus talking to His children as a parent would speak to their small children.

He is speaking to ALL Christians.

They are? That's the world talking. Why do you assume that Christians would all sin in that way? We certainly must guard against it, and in Christ, we have that power to put lust where it belings---under our feet.

Well, I feel a bit differently. If I never looked a second time at a person I find attractive, I would have to keep my eyes closed quite a bit. How many movies I could not have watched, or television programs, or different things of that nature. Now if I allow my mind to wander in thought while looking, that would be a different situation.

It really is crazy how lust is totally dependent on hormones and brain chemistry......thousands of couples have struggled with their sexual relationship because of the pill and prozac - both inhibit sexual desire.

As sinful humans, we need to realize that we are susceptible to making terrible decisions based on chemicals! These decisions to act out of hedonistic urges destroy marriages and lives.

Also, disciple in this area, before marriage carries into marriage. The world may tell you to go out and live it up before marriage, but the fact is, temptation to act sinfully in this area is no different within marriage and sinful habits carry into marriage as well

Oh, I love that song !!

To what degree does looking at someone become lust?
When your look becomes desire...repent and keep it moving

All behavior is conceived in the mind and ratified in the heart......

Once it is ratified, we may be able to delay acting on it, but eventually it will be carried out.

'I see' 'I want' 'I will get'

Self serving behavior learned in the Garden, echos through time.

Our only hope is to be justified and sanctified - to learn how to change our focus from ourselves towards God, which is true repentance.

It is when your decision making mechanism goes "click" to take action, to move forward in the lust imagined. It is never sin until then. It is the intent of one's heart when the decision is reached. Whether successful in the act or not isn't the point of judgement. It is the intent of our heart.

Let us all come to where Jesus is our heart! Then every decision made in our bodies is by Him in us, not by our old dead self. Cool huh :)

Everytime such a temptation entered Jesus' mind, He overcame it with the Word of God and the Will of Christ in Him. Such temptations is what He overcame.
Now, by filling us with His Holy Spirit, the man Jesus comes into us, overcoming our temptations to sin in the exact same manner as with Jesus while in His flesh. He does this in our flesh! :) That is how we turn from sin to be sinless! Praise Jesus!

This is that "good work" Jesus is accomplishing in us since He has Come into us by His Resurrected Glorified Holy Spirit.

(Php 1:6) Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:

Lust is having unpure thoughts about the person you are looking.
If you look the first time and get unpure thoughts. Look away and do not go for the second look.
Pray and battle yourself. Do not quit and you will overcome.
