Where is the doctrinal dividing line between heresy and orthodoxy? I go with the traditional dividing line - the doctrine of the Trinity and the doctrine of the Incarnation. In other words, if you reject the basic nature of God as a Trinity or Jesus Christ as God or the Holy Spirit as God and comforter, you fail outside the doctrinal definition of Christianity.

Arguing about Christ's divinity is really arguing about the truth of Christianity - so are arguments about the Trinity.

All other topics are in house arguments, but the true nature of God is the bottom line.

Where is your bottom line?

Christianity is about a new creation in Christ. If one does not die in Christ and the old nature with it...then that one cannot be raised up into a life of holiness by the grace (power) of God.

All other considerations are in-house squabbles. :)

There are also more, indirect, heresies.

Denying Hell and/or the existence of Satan, which makes God a liar, and a lying God is..well u get the picture.

Basically, all the many "other" gospels (a.k.a doctrines of men) that hide under the title of Christianity.

I think there certainly can be errors in doctrine at any level - denying Hell, claiming that Satan is not a being, denying the inspiration of the Bible, etc - but all of those errors can still be considered in-house. All heresies start with the denial of the true nature of God.

It is interesting, the Restored Church of the Latter Day Saints is considered a Protestant denomination even though they follow the teaching of the Book of Mormon because they belief in the Trinity. Their doctrine is filled with error, but they are correct about the nature of God the Father, Jesus the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Nothing is deeper for us than the grace to walk in holiness. This is so deep that almost no-one believes it any longer. Our shallowness has caused us to miss the gospel and it's power.

If you do not know God, you do not know grace.

Jesus Christ is my bottom line :)

No trinity. That awful teaching is all unscriptural silliness, the 'trinity' teaching. Orthodoxy and creeds kill. They deny that Jesus is the One Lord God, our Everlasting Father. They deny understanding Christ is Glorified in resurrection and ascension, and Come, in Holiness into us by His Holy Spirit exactly as promised. That is the Bible bottom line. Orthodoxy has nothing similar with scripture. So very sad.

Sounds like a creed to me.
Kind of self defeating, don't you think?

absolutely! Also, we gain understanding of the nature of Christ/Man from the doctrine of the Incarnation which was determined by councils and based in scripture.

Who do you believe Christ is?

The King of Israel, amongst other things. He is my Lord and my God.

You can read all about Him in the O.T., His first marriage to old Israel, His divorce of her, His promise to remarray her in a New Covenant in His Blood... it is all Christ. Then you can read all about how He came and accomplished all the law and the prophets in abolishing that old law of sin and death and bringing us into the New Law of Everlasting Life.

The first the last. The beginning the end.

He is the wellspring from on High. My bright and morning star.

He was the obedient Son of God.

He is raised in power and Glory from resurrection into ascension and then COME as promised to His Wife on Pentecost, as the Holy Spirit. This is Christ. And much much more :) Now He Fathers us by His Holy Spirit in Holy Matrimony as we each say, "I do" in marrying Him in the New Covenant.

Thank you for asking.

Sounds like a creed to me.

Lol. This is polytheism. God is One Person. Not three. There is only one God. And His Name is Jesus.

(Mar 12:29) Jesus answered, The first is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God, the Lord is one:

(Eph 4:5) one Lord, one faith, one baptism,

And WHO is this ONE LORD?

(Joh 20:28) Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God.

(Mat 28:6) He is not here; for he is risen, even as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.

One Lord.

Jesus.

Trinity doctrine is of the devil and destroys souls. It is a false god, false doctrine religion. I can't stress enough to get out of such a religion dear children and run to Christ Jesus our Lord. The ONLY Lord our God and Father.

Peace

I suggest that you take up your objection to Christian orthodoxy up with St. Anathanius and St. Augustine.

Oh really? Do you read the Bible? How do you think it was compiled? Yep, another Roman Catholic council.
I know exactly how the Bible was compiled.
God, as always, uses the ignorance and corruption of men, to eventually bring a blessing upon another. Look at the Catholic Church for instance. You can't get any more corrupt than that denomination hardly, yet it pleased God to use such a God-less bunch to His ultimate purpose, such as the production of the Bible.
I read the Bible and Greek ms texts, yes. I prove all things.

Nothing of my faith has to do with your gurus though.

The trinity is not polytheism at all.
If anyone thinks it is, they have no idea what they are on about , they are totally lost on the subject.
Any church group etc that rejects the trinity is being lead by foolish ignorant noobs.
It's a disgraceful worldly position to bag the trinity as it shows one's contempt for who Christ is and who we are.

Yeah, you do not have to convince me of your ignorance - I hear you loud and clear.
