Satan has won. He's given me one blow after another, and christ did nothing to protect me. I give up. Christ is unreliable and impotent.

Hey elysian!

are you okay? although we may sometimes feel that way, the bible says that he remains faithful when we are faithless...What kind of protection do you need sweetheart...perhaps I can help!...perhaps we can all help! :)

Bless you!

Elysian, what did you expect for Jesus to do to protect you? He is our protector, and our faith is our strong shield. It is not true that Jesus Christ is unreliable and impotent. Satan may be strong, but he is puny compared to the King of all kings, Jesus Christ! Repent for your anger and God will forgive you, because He LOVES you! Then exercise what faith you have and stand on His word, declaring Jesus as your Lord, and tell the enemy to back off in Jesus' name and he has to do so. Believe it.

He doesn't give me the strength to get into one. So I give up. I am sick of this worldly life.

Come on now dear brother...sometimes life can be difficult but nothing is impossible with God. You have got to believe that. If he wants you to go to a monastery, those doors will open in a divine way...Maybe God wants you to go in another direction. Pray about it first and then trust God to open those doors for you....

"Life without Christ is no life at all"

Blessings to you and I will be praying for you and your circumstances

Your not alone Elysian trustme. I've been there too. Last year I had spiritual breakdown after spiritual breakdown, you only have to look through my posts about Hell and spiritual warfare and I'll probably have a tone more of them but I'll not give up on God, never. You see I think these moments when your faith sinks right down to rock bottom and you feel like you are let down by God are the moments when you are being tested or even tempted. Afterall it is so easy to throw the toul in and give into satan but what you have to do is stand firm.

Have you ever read the poem about the "footprints in the sand?" There was a man who was travelling through the desert with Christ. When he felt close to God he could see Jesus' footprints in the sand next to his but when he felt far away from God he could only see one pair and it felt like he was walking alone. When the man came to the end of the desert he met Jesus and said to him, "why when things were at their toughest was there only one set of footprints?" Jesus said to him, "that was when I was carrying you."

Do you belong to a church Elysian? Is there spiritual direction available? I think that if you don't belong to a chruch then you should find one that you feel is right for you and seek some kind of spiritual direction or possibly go on retreat to a monastery perhaps.

The "Good News" is that while we give up on God, ourselves and each other, God does not give up on us. The fact that you have given up may not be a bad thing but put you in a place where God can begin to work in you. God is not concerned with what any of us can do for Him but rather that all of us will receive and totally accept what He has done for us.
Praying for you. :)

Christ does not give up on you. Please be more specific as it seems you need help. Satan attacks, yet God will not give you more than you can bear. We must be broken to receive what God wants to give us, because it is nothing we can do on our own.

Doesn't sound like you would make a very good soldier anyway. You would likely run at the first sound of the enemy.

Maybe it is not his will that you live in a monastery

On the other hand, I am convinced, by the word of God, that it is his will that you would be translated into his kingdom and live from there, with Christ. :)

There you will find victory, and new life in him.

It takes a lot of persistence to get into monastery. In fact, most people are rejected the first or second time just so the monks can find out if they really want to join. Also, I hate to say it, but being in a monastery is tough. You have to be 'cut out' for it. In fact it is rare for people to stay for long, these days.

You sound depressed to me. Instead of dreaming of escape, I think you need to seek out someone to listen to you.

EVERYONE has struggles and hard times. Sometimes it doesn't seem that God is doing anything at all. I've suffered throughout my whole life. One blow after another, and then, just for good measure, a head butt here and a groin kick there. Meh, it's part of life.

Somethings are just a natural occurance of existing. It's a part of life. Don't give Satan too much credit.

If we look, we sabotage our own lives much of the time. If we look, we cause alot of our own pain. If we look deeper, God is there to help us learn from the mistakes, and learn from the suffering and make us stronger people. Sometimes we go through something so horrible and we get mad at God. What if we suffer so we will understand something someone else went through, and be able to comfort them or bring them to the Lord?

I know how you feel, and I know you'll feel differently later. That's a fact. The bad part is how guilty you'll feel for thinking you gave up. It'll be alright.

And our hope of you is stedfast, knowing, that as ye are partakers of the sufferings, so shall ye be also of the consolation. For we would not, brethren, have you ignorant of our trouble which came to us in Asia, that we were pressed out of measure, above strength, insomuch that we despaired even of life: But we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God which raiseth the dead: Who delivered us from so great a death, and doth deliver: in whom we trust that he will yet deliver us;

elysian:

The thing to remember is that Jesus Christ upbuilds the very strength that you need...right now.

Everything about life is highly demanding on our spiritual strength...when we become exhausted of it we are depressed and extremely sorry for ourselves. It is a well known fact that when our morale is low so is our health and we deteriorate at an alarming rate.

Take Jesus at his word. Upbuild your nervous strength by being obedient to his accurate teaching and allow yourself to become strong in righteousness. This will strengthen and reinforce what is lacking in you right now.

Thanks
It's a remidner for me that even when you feel far from God he doesn't give up on us, even if it feels like he has. I dosometimes wonder if he does this to test us or maybe it's just a part of living in a fallen world.

It cuts me to the heart to hear you say that. As many have pointed out this is what we all go through and I recognize your frustration. Just ride this out brother. There is always hope, and no matter how dark it feels, Jesus will never abandon you.

"A bruised reed he will not break, and a smoldering wick he will not snuff out, till he leads justice to victory."

We are all waiting for the time when Jesus will lead justice to victory, and we all get frustrated waiting for the victory to come. Remember it is His victory, all we need to do is cling on to the hope we have in Him.
