What do you think it will be like? Will the Christians be taken before, during or after? Will the people left behind get a second chance? How close are we to the end times? I personally think we are close. Probably about 50-100 years. As for the other questions I asked, I really don't know. I don't think Tim Lahaye and Jerry Jenkins were that far off in the "Left Behind" series, though I do disagree with some of what is in there.

To be blunt about it, I absolutely abhor the word rapture. It has come to symbolize, in my opinion, trouble. The pre-tribulation rapture is nothing but a myth.Christ will come back while the saved are still on the earth. Everyone loves to point to the verse(s) in II Thessalonians where it speaks about one in the field will be taken so don't run back and get clothes. That verse is simply saying go on with your life. Don't become obsessed with Christ's return and abandon everything else including your spiritual work. Christ will come as thief in the night but he will also come at the sounding of a trumpet. Read Revelation and it's all in there plus parts of Matthew, Mark, and Luke. There are, of course, other mentions of it as well. You'd be suprised how many people believe 100% in the rapture but don't open up Revelation to verify it.Another point I like to make is to read the verses that appear over and over again.Matthew 24 (3-5, 23-26)Mark 13 (4-6, 21-23) - Read on after this for why there is no pre-trib. rapture.Luke 21 (7-9, 35)As well as other times; but you get the point. As far as being close - only the Father himself knows the exact time, but I think one can see that we certainly do appear quite close looking the prophecy.

I lean towards the pre-trib "rapture" myself simply because Jesus said we don't know the day or the hour. If we lived through the tribulation which is 7 years, we would then have a pretty good idea when he would be coming. I don't obsess over this, I just live like today's the day.Unrelated note:I saw a bumper sticker that made me laugh the other day:Jesus is coming, look busy.If they only knew Jesus looks at the heart, not outward appearances.

Well, I don't know for a fact that there will be a rapture and I know Revelation to know what signs to watch for if we do have to endure the tribulation.

I hope thats true gibby because most people have no idea that the AntiChrist is coming first claiming to be God here to save and rapture away the peopleRevalations says the delusion will be so strong if God didnt shorten the time the whole world would be decieved. In one of the original manuscripts (I can't remember which one at the moment )theres a verse about Noah,BEFORE he sent out the dove that found branch,FIRST,he sent out a Raven that came back empty handed and Noah says this is a message for the last generation. Meaning the false christ (antichrist)anti means instead of (antichrist=instead of christ)

Both in my hometown Church and the Church I was attending when recalled after 9-11, we had the entire congregation calling for Bush to go fourth and Liberate the entire world into Democracy. One Sermon chastised Bush for "Stopping in Iraq" Calling upon him to purge the entire Middle East of that stemch called Islam and then turn to China. The Sermon called for This war not to end until the entire world was liberated under the flag of America and Cross of Christ. Now that "Liberation of the world" is a bit behind schedule, people in the same Churches are claiming that the world is fouled up beyond repair and that the rapture is near. They are the ones who helped put the match to the spilled gasoline and now expect the Lord to snatch them out of the very fire they started?

first the rapture theory must be taught correctly rapture means resurrection and all the died and people alive will be resurrected or raptured at the very end and the died are freed first.also no one is left behind all the evil people are collected buy the angels or ufos and are kicked out of earth see ill prove it Matthew 13. Matthew 13 american bible41"(AL)The Son of Man (AM)will send forth His angels, and they will gather out of His kingdom all (AN)stumbling blocks, and those who commit lawlessness, 42and (AO)will throw them into the furnace of fire; in that place (AP)there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. 43"(AQ)Then THE RIGHTEOUS WILL SHINE FORTH AS THE SUN in the kingdom of their Father (AR)He who has ears, let him hear.read the whole thing makes more sense and read the next page if you have timeMatthew 13 red letterThe Tares Explained36Then He left the crowds and went into (AD)the house And His disciples came to Him and said, "(AE)Explain to us the parable of the tares of the field." 37And He said, "The one who sows the good seed is (AF)the Son of Man, 38and the field is the world; and as for the good seed, these are (AG)the sons of the kingdom; and the tares are (AH)the sons of (AI)the evil one; 39and the enemy who sowed them is the devil, and the harvest is (AJ)the end of the age; and the reapers are angels. 40"So just as the tares are gathered up and burned with fire, so shall it be at (AK)the end of the age. 41"(AL)The Son of Man (AM)will send forth His angels, and they will gather out of His kingdom all (AN)stumbling blocks, and those who commit lawlessness, 42and (AO)will throw them into the furnace of fire; in that place (AP)there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. 43"(AQ)Then THE RIGHTEOUS WILL SHINE FORTH AS THE SUN in the kingdom of their Father (AR)He who has ears, let him hear. so all the faithful never leave earth and no one is left behind GOD sends his angels and they kick out all the evil that plague earth. so all the faithful never leave earth and we get to watch god make earth into his heaven.please help me understand the rapture theory like who made it and why it is not taught correctly. the rapture to me is when man kind is finally with Jesus in the new heaven earth. Now the rapture is deceiving people saying they will be whisked away and some say aliens or ufo will take us up and away now this teaching is very dangerous and must be taught correctly. cause all the evil people are collected buy the angels and thrown away all the faithful never leave earth because earth is going to become the new heavens.

There is no Rapture (if you want to call it that) untill AFTER Christ returns in the SEVENTH trump of Revelation and thats AFTER the anti-christ and the tribulationof the SIXTH trumph .Thats the danger in this. How can you be prepared to fight the enemy as a warrior in Gods army, if man has taught you, Oh dont worry about it you are going to be gone? See study on Rapture lie http://www.christianityboard.com/showthrea...p?p=979#post979THERE IS NO RATURE IN THE BIBLE

rapture means to become a GOD inbody everyone alive at the end gets to become a GOD inbody its just the chruch messes the hole rapture theory up saying you will be saved beforthe great test the church has dug a hole and is not teaching the truth their is a slaughter coming for all of man kind. So who ever keeps faith at the very end will become gods inbody or will be raptured even if you never leave earth. the chruch has done a horriable job and those preachers that like to cry for a buck are doomed.rapture isnt even in the bible some loser in the church decided to teach everything wrong i dont even no how this mess started man becomes GODS inbody or above darkness inbody and all the faithful get to watch earth become heaven

Yeah, toolpac has it right. "Rapture" itself doesn't mean to leave early as it is used today, but instead it has become synonymous with this idea that we'll all fly away beforehand.Rapture: http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/raptureThe word itself comes from the Latin "raptus" which is equivalent to the Greek "harpazo" which is acutally used in the Bible. Basically, at least to me, the corruption of the word "rapture" symbolizes, in many respects the corruption of God's Holy Word on the matter.

I'm unclear on this... where does the false sense of security come from? (BernieEOD)

Okay, this entire post ... scares me!

The false sense of security comes from the idea that we'll all be taken out of here before things sour and get rough. Basically think of it as a war. You know that an attack is coming and things are going to get rough. However, you're hearing a rumor that orders are coming down that you'll be transferred out before the battle begins; however, in reality you're going to be in the battle. The thing here is that those who make the mistake here of believing a lie won't get off so easily. They'll be apart of the great "falling away" that the Apostle Paul spoke of in 2 Thessalonians 2:3 KJV. The Antichrist is going to be a very appealing character; afterall, Satan(Lucifer) was an angel of light. Those who keep the seal of God; meaning the knowledge that he has given us, will be fine. Those who have gone whoring after false gods and false doctrines won't be.

I'm curious and a little confused by about one of the questions raised. Our OP wrote... "Will the people left behind get a second chance?" If there is no rapture and the saved and unsaved are still here when the anti-christ comes... are the unsaved being given last and final chance?! If no... what's the point to have them suffer on earth if by this time they are doomed to an eternity in hell??And, if the saved are already saved... why must they suffer the tribulation? Or...is this one final test?

I guess the best way to say it is that it's the final test in God's great plan for us. In reality, there are no second chances. People always want to point out the millenium, but we see that the millenium is where those who did not get the chance (perhaps they were murdered or the Gospel never made it their part of the world and so on). It's not a second chance. It's a chance for those who never knew Christ in their life on Earth to be witnessed to and receive Christ. For the elect that are here; it's our job as Christians to do the work that we were commanded. To plant the seeds and witness to as many as we can. The life here on Earth for the saved doesn't really matter; look what happened to the prophets, disciples, and apostles. The idea is to save as many as possible in these last days.

SwampfoxYou are correct in idenifying the need to do the work that is commanded of us. I am reminded of the words of our Master when he proclaimed that the end of the age would come to us as in the days of Noah. Our brother and fellow servant Peter also pointed out that only eight souls were saved. I fear that not many will escape the wrath that comes. Many of those who profess to know the Lord will fall prey to the deceit of the pre tribulation rapture lie by not recognizing the son of perdition for who he really is, because the false hope they look for will not have happened. In the confusion that follows in the events that will transpire world wide as we enter the great tribulation period and the time of Jacobs trouble they will follow this false prophet while still waiting for the pre trib rapture they hope for. This is the apostasy or great falling away. I and the others rising like me who are servants and carry the burden of the Lord are charged to identify the man of sin and his prophet when they appear and to challenge his hosts. We don't know who he is just yet, but will be given this revelation when the time comes. We will also assist and guide the tribulation saints through these days and will also have something to do with the remnant. All of our tasks aren't fully known just yet, but the Holy Ghost will guide us and those who we have charge over. The time is very near and those who will be gathered together in this struggle will find each other and will consolidate our resources to this end.

So what group do you belong to and what has the lord said. see you got me curious and its killing me i want to learn more about you that's all. so are you looking for the anti Christ and then your job is to tell the world just trying to see were your coming from. its usually the other way around every satanic mantle worshipper is looking for the prophets. so what has the lord told your group.
