(Rev 13:16 ESV) Also it causes all, both small and great, both rich and poor, both free and slave, to be marked on the right hand or the forehead,
(Rev 13:17 ESV) so that no one can buy or sell unless he has the mark, that is, the name of the beast or the number of its name.
(Rev 13:18 ESV) This calls for wisdom: let the one who has understanding calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man, and his number is 666.

Please bear with the poor English of the poster.

The Number
This number is believed to be encoded in the false prophet’s name.

In English Bibles, this number is written as “six hundred sixty six” or “six hundred sixteen” not “six six six” or “six one six”. In the Greek Texts where most many English bible translations came from, this number is written in two ways:
1) Letters only: chi(600) xi(60) stigma(6).
2) Words: word for 600 word for 60 word for 6.

In ancient Hebrew and maybe in the Aramaic this number could be written as:
Tav(400) Resh(200) Samech(60) Vav(6)

The number 600 was divided into two parts (400 and 200) because Hebrew alphabet ends with the letter Tav which has a numerical value of 400. The number 600 is written [anciently] as Tav Resh (400 + 200). http://en.wikipedia....rals#Main_table

The Man
Almost everyone in the Christian world views this man as the false prophet or the antichrist, but if you will examine carefully the verses above, it can be said that this man could be anybody. The passage does NOT say that this man is the false prophet. Read it again. It does NOT say that six hundred sixty six is the number of the 2nd beast which is the false prophet. This could be a very, very big surprise to many of us but has anyone proven FROM THE BIBLE that this man is the false prophet? The number of this man could be the same, in whatever form, with the number of the name of the beast but that doesn’t automatically mean that this man is the antichrist. You will also notice that it’s the number of the name of the beast (the 1st beast) that should be counted or calculated. The number of the beast has something to do with the buying or selling. It could be that the number of this man has also something to do with the buying or selling. Who is this man if he is not the false prophet? We should search the bible first, shouldn’t we?

There’s a man in the bible that has this number. We don’t have to calculate his name by his number – we have to know the meaning of his number to identify him. In Biblical Hebrew, numbers are represented by the letters of the alphabet. Each letter of the alphabet has its numerical value and each has its own name and each has its own meanings.

Let’s now find their individual meanings starting with the smallest number. Click the link below and a new tab or window will open:

The link page includes all the Hebrew letters and their individual meanings. The Hebrew section is in the lower part of the page. If you want an in depth study of the Hebrew letters, you can use the Internet.

Vav (6)
This letter which also represents the number 6 has the meaning of a peg or hook for securing something. Compare this definition to Isaiah 22:23.

(Isa 22:23 ESV) And I will fasten him like a peg in a secure place, and he will become a throne of honor to his father’s house.

Samech (60)
It has the meanings of uphold, support, prop, etc. Visit the following link to know more about this letter: http://www.chabad.or...7/jewish/Samech

(Isa 22:23 ESV) And I will fasten him like a peg in a secure place, and he will become a throne of honor to his father’s house.

Here’s the definition of the Hebrew word “secure” in this verse:
H539
‘âman
BDB Definition:
1) to support, confirm, be faithful
1a) (Qal)
1a1) to support, confirm, be faithful, uphold, nourish
1a1a) foster-father (substantive)
1a1b) foster-mother, nurse
1a1c) pillars, supporters of the door
1b) (Niphal)
1b1) to be established, be faithful, be carried, make firm
1b1a) to be carried by a nurse
1b1b) made firm, sure, lasting
1b1c) confirmed, established, sure
1b1d) verified, confirmed
1b1e) reliable, faithful, trusty
1c) (Hiphil)
1c1) to stand firm, to trust, to be certain, to believe in
1c1a) stand firm
1c1b) trust, believe
Part of Speech: verb

You will notice that this word “aman” is a verb. The writer does not know why it is translated as an adjective here in Isaiah 22:23. Visit the following link to know more about this Hebrew word “aman” which corresponds to the letter Samech (60): http://www.preceptau...definitions.htm

Resh (200)
This letter has a meaning of head or chief.

(Isa 22:21 ESV) and I will clothe him with your robe, and will bind your sash on him, and will commit your authority to his hand. And he shall be a father to the inhabitants of Jerusalem and to the house of Judah.

Now look at the definition of the Hebrew word “father” in Isaiah 22:21:

H1
אב
‘âb
BDB Definition:
1) father of an individual
2) of God as father of his people
3) head or founder of a household, group, family, or clan
4) ancestor
4a) grandfather, forefathers – of person
4b) of people
5) originator or patron of a class, profession, or art
6) of producer, generator (figuratively)
7) of benevolence and protection (figuratively)
8) term of respect and honour
9) ruler or chief (specifically)

Tav (400)
It has the meanings mark, sign or signature.

Let’s know first who this man is before we discuss the meaning of the letter Tav. Here’s the whole passage about this man:

(Isa 22:20 ESV) In that day I will call my servant Eliakim the son of Hilkiah,
(Isa 22:21 ESV) and I will clothe him with your robe, and will bind your sash on him, and will commit your authority to his hand. And he shall be a father to the inhabitants of Jerusalem and to the house of Judah.
(Isa 22:22 ESV) And I will place on his shoulder the key of the house of David. He shall open, and none shall shut; and he shall shut, and none shall open.
(Isa 22:23 ESV) And I will fasten him like a peg in a secure place, and he will become a throne of honor to his father’s house.
(Isa 22:24 ESV) And they will hang on him the whole honor of his father’s house, the offspring and issue, every small vessel, from the cups to all the flagons.

Who is this man Eliakim son of Hilkiah mentioned here? In verse 22, it says that God will lay upon this man’s shoulder the key of the house of David. Ask this key to a serious bible student, Rev 3:7 will pop up on his mind. Here it is:

(Rev 3:7 KJV) And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write; These things saith he that is holy, he that is true, he that hath the key of David, he that openeth, and no man shutteth; and shutteth, and no man openeth;

According to this verse, this Eliakim the son of Hilkiah (Isaiah 22:20-24) could be a “type” of our Lord Yehua.

Let’s go back to the meaning of the Hebrew letter Tav. Does it have something to do with Eliakim son of Hilkiah of Isaiah 22:20-24? The answer will also prove that this man is a “type” of our Lord Yeshua. Let us look at the meaning of the name Eliakim in the Hebrew.

H471
אליקים
‘elyâqîym
BDB Definition:
Eliakim = “God raises” or “God sets up”
1) the son of Hilkiah, master of Hezekiah’s household
2) Josiah’s son, enthroned by Pharaoh
3) a priest who assisted Nehemiah

We can see here that Eliakim means “God raises” or “God sets up”. Now, read the following verses:

(Rom 15:12 Etheridge) And again, Eshaia hath said, there shall be a root of Jeshai, and he who shall arise shall be the chief of the peoples; and upon him will the Gentiles hope.

Jesse (Jeshai) is the father of David.

(Isa 11:10 KJV) And in that day there shall be a root of Jesse, which shall stand for an ensign of the people; to it shall the Gentiles seek: and his rest shall be glorious.
(Isa 11:11 KJV) And it shall come to pass in that day, that the Lord shall set his hand again the second time to recover the remnant of his people, which shall be left, from Assyria, and from Egypt, and from Pathros, and from Cush, and from Elam, and from Shinar, and from Hamath, and from the islands of the sea.
(Isa 11:12 KJV) And he shall set up an ensign for the nations, and shall assemble the outcasts of Israel, and gather together the dispersed of Judah from the four corners of the earth.

Who is this man that God will raise or set up as an ensign? The root of Jesse – our Lord Yeshua.

Since it is God’s intent that we use the meaning of the name Eliakim to resolve the identity of the Man with the number 666, the author deemed it right if we also study and apply the meaning of the name Hilkiah. Here’s the meaning of the name of Eliakim’s father:

H2518
chilqîyâh chilqîyâhû
khil-kee-yaw’, khil-kee-yaw’-hoo
From H2506 and H3050; portion of Jah; Chilhijah, the name of eight Israelites: – Hilkiah.

The word “portion” here came from H2506.

H2506
chêleq
khay’-lek
From H2505; properly smoothness (of the tongue); also an allotment: – flattery, inheritance, part, X partake, portion.

So, this Hebrew word “portion” also means “inheritance”. Now, read the following verses:

(Deu 9:26 KJV) I prayed therefore unto the LORD, and said, O Lord GOD, destroy not thy people and thine inheritance, which thou hast redeemed through thy greatness, which thou hast brought forth out of Egypt with a mighty hand.

(1Ki 8:51 ASV) (for they are thy people, and thine inheritance, which thou broughtest forth out of Egypt, from the midst of the furnace of iron);

Here’s the definition of the Hebrew word for “inheritance” in these two verses:
H5159
nachălâh
BDB Definition:
1) possession, property, inheritance, heritage
1a) property
1b) portion, share
1c) inheritance, portion

Notice that it also means “portion”. It can be said that the word “Hilkiah” meant the people of God, that is, Israel. It could be that the house of Eliakim’s father mentioned in Isaiah 22:22-23 refers to the people of Israel (12 tribes).

NOTE: The following section of this post that is colored with maroon may not be understood by the reader. It is recommended that he/she read the article Revelation And Its Mysteries from its beginning up to its 2nd topic - The Locust Army.

No Mark or Number 666 No Buying or Selling
At the time of the implementation of the rule – No Mark or Number 666 No Buying or Selling – only the people who don’t have the seal of God will be hurt and tormented by the Locust Army (Rev 9:4-5). Only these people will not be able to buy or sell. Many people believed that this is because God has raptured all those who have His seal on their foreheads to a place where He sustain them independent of world economy. If that is so then, the number of our Lord Yeshua makes no sense economically at the time of the enforcement of this rule. But what if there are God’s people at that time who are dependent on world economy whether they are the 144,000 or newly sealed people or Jews/Israelites by birth living in the land of Israel or on any place on our planet? His number which is carried by His people could be what makes them biblically eligible (Revelation 13:17) to do business (buy or sell) with the beast. The grasses, green things and trees mentioned in Revelation 9:4 could be referring to God’s people. See the verses below:

(Jer 17:7 ESV) “Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, whose trust is the LORD.
(Jer 17:8 ESV) He is like a tree planted by water, that sends out its roots by the stream, and does not fear when heat comes, for its leaves remain green, and is not anxious in the year of drought, for it does not cease to bear fruit.”

(Psa 1:2 ESV) but his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night.
(Psa 1:3 ESV) He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers.

(Isa 66:14 ESV) You shall see, and your heart shall rejoice; your bones shall flourish like the grass; and the hand of the LORD shall be known to his servants, and he shall show his indignation against his enemies.

(Isa 58:11 ESV) And the LORD will guide you continually and satisfy your desire in scorched places and make your bones strong; and you shall be like a watered garden, like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail.

(Psa 72:16 KJV) There shall be an handful of corn in the earth upon the top of the mountains; the fruit thereof shall shake like Lebanon: and they of the city shall flourish like grass of the earth.

(Eze 20:46 NIV) “Son of man, set your face toward the south; preach against the south and prophesy against the forest of the southland.
(Eze 20:47 NIV) Say to the southern forest: ‘Hear the word of the LORD. This is what the Sovereign LORD says: I am about to set fire to you, and it will consume all your trees, both green and dry. The blazing flame will not be quenched, and every face from south to north will be scorched by it.
Bible commentators agree that the “forest of the southland” refers to the city of Jerusalem in the land of Judea. The green trees and the dry trees refer to Israel’s righteous and wicked persons respectively (read Ezekiel 21:1-4).

What about this verse:
(Rev 15:2 ESV) And I saw what appeared to be a sea of glass mingled with fire–and also those who had conquered the beast and its image and the number of its name, standing beside the sea of glass with harps of God in their hands.

It is the number of the name of the beast that is meant here to have been conquered. It could not mean to include the MEANING of the number of our Lord Yeshua because they are His people (church or body) and He is their chief or head.

In light of the meanings of each Hebrew letters, anyone can see for himself/herself if the MAN’s number in Revelation 13:18 is really six hundred sixty six or not.

The belief that this man is the false prophet could be the biggest lie ever in the Christian world. This man is NOT the antichrist – HE is the REAL Christ the Saviour of the Holy People.

The children of God have a mark which will be clearly visible in the endtimes and make them conspicuous everywhere. They are like a holy temple built on the firm foundation of the Word of God, "bearing this seal: 'The Lord knows those who are his', and, 'Let every one who names the name of the Lord depart from iniquity', (2Tim 2:19). They are like Noah, "a herald of righteousness", in the ancient world, (2Pet 2:5). They have all been sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, (Rev 7:4).

But the church of Antichrist also has its sign which makes its members immediately recognizable. They have been branded as the bearers of the image of Antichrist; in those who bear his sign are works inspired by the spirit of lawlessness and disobedience. John mentioned a sign at their foreheads and at their right hands, for their thoughts and actions are under the complete influence of the Kingdom of Darkness. While in the endtimes, the faithful church of Jesus Christ has the fullness of the Holy Spirit, anti-Christians (unfaithful church) are completely swallowed up by spirits of error and falsehood.

In contrast, the next chapter tells us that the Sons of God have the names of the Father and the Son written on their foreheads. The anti-Christian/unfaithful church is the assembling of a completely naturally orientated people. It includes the rich and the poor, in money, knowledge, and culture. In it there are the free and the slaves, the highly placed and the lowly. Just as there are small and great found in the faithful church (concerning the Kingdom of God and its righteousness), (Rev 11:18), there is mentioned also of the small and great among the sons of perdition too.

The kingdom of Antichrist and the church of Antichrist are the complete opposite of the Kingdom of God and of the church of Jesus Christ. Daniel 7:25 says of the Antichrist that he shall try to change the times and the law. His followers hate and revile the divine laws. In 2Thessalonians 2:3 we find the prediction that, after the great apostasy, the Man (men) of Lawlessness will reveal himself, (themselves). Isaiah indicated this in the following words, "Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter", (Is 5:20).

In our days we are able to comprehend what the changing of times means; it is a change of customs and manners and moral standards. Look around you; the former social and cultural norms have been turned ont their heads. For instance, tolerating homosexuality is prevailant now; even celebrated by the unfaithful church. Indeed, in Daniel 11:37 it says that Antichrist shall not give heed to the desires of woman!

No contact is possible between the church of Jesus Christ and that of Antichrist. A person is either completely in the service of iniquity or follows the Lamb wherever He goes. A true Christian cannot "buy or sell" any more without making contact with sin.

In the endtimes, wholesome participation in social, political, and cultural life by the children of God will be next to impossible. John mentioned the sign of the Beast, the name of the Beast, and the number of his name. Rev 14:11 mentions the sign of his name.
Note:
The name of the Beast is the spirit of error, the spirit of Antichrist or the spirit of Lawlessness.
It calls for insight and understanding of the spiritual world to "reckon" the number of his name; including wisdom or practical knowledge.
None of us should be scouring the newspapers to comprehend our present day. John did not write for people who read newspapers or for those who listen to radio commentators. He wrote for those who would hear the words of this prophecy and keep them.

The cultural noise of our society, (newspapers and radio), can only give us rumors and news about the visible world. It cannot avail insight into the invisible spiritual events behind the visible things.
And, neither do we need knowledge of Greek or Hebrew to reckon the number of the name of the Beast.
For instance, this is what the Bible commentators of the 17th century did. They assumed that the Pope was Antichrist. He is the head of the Roman or Latin church and Latin is the language of that church as well as the Vulgate being the Latin version of the Bible.
Just as the Roman characters have numerical values, so too do the Greek letters have numerical value. So numbers may either be written completely or indicated by the letters of the alphabet.
The numerical value of 'lateinos' for instance is: 1=30; a=1; t=300; e (epsilon) =5; i=10; n=50; c=70; and s=200. Added together, lo: 666!
With acute ingenuity, many interpreters have tried to prove historical persons as Antichrist. For instance: Nero, Napoleon, Mussolini, etc.
Spelled in Greek, the name 'Jesus' gives the number 888. I-10; e (eta) =8; s=200; o=70; u=400; and s=200. 'Kurios' (Lord) makes 800, 'Christus' 1480 (8 times 185).
While it's a privilege to have knowledge of the ancient, dead languages, it's certainly not the Holy Spirit's intention that, in the endtimes, the children of God should occupy themselves with mind boggling mathematical puzzles of this kind.

Revelation 17:9 once again indicates that it takes a wise mind to fathom the mystery of the mark. The spirit of occultism, the Sixth Head, is the real and permanent head of the Beast.
In this respect we should compare Scripture with Scripture. The number six indicates the power of occultism by which the whole power of Antichrist is connected with the Abyss. The number belonging to the Beast from the Bottomless Pit, to the Beast from the earth, and to the image, therefore is the number six. When it says that the number must be "reckoned", while the number six hundred and sixty-six is mentioned at the same time, it means that the number should be 'explained'.
It does not say that the calculation can be made or the number explained only when the endtimes has arrived and Antichrist has manifested himself. No, it says that everyone who has a mind of wisdom will be able to do identify the mark. This is because, while the Beast belongs to the invisible world, the number of the Beast is a human number.

Revelation 21:17 has a near identical expression when it says: "Man's measure, that is, an angel 's". The number six hundred and sixty-six is related to two dimensions: the invisible, spiritual, and the visible, natural. The number applies to the spirit of Antichrist as well as to Antichrist and his unfaithful church.

Nebuchadnezzar's golden image is an Old Testament shadow image of the Antichrist. Only two dimensions are mentioned: its height was sixty cubits and its width was six cubits. The ratio of 10 X 1 indicates that the image had abnormal proportions, and at the same time it also was the signature of abominable idolatry and communication with demons, (1Cor 10:20).

Here, John used the number six hundred and sixty-six to indicate one more dimension of lawlessness. This dimension is not about the indirect worshipping of demons by means of idols. No, it is about but a direct occult communication with the Dragon and the Beast by supernatural means.

The antichristian church is a spiritualistic church. Its contact, however, is not via the so-called deceased, (mediums). No, in we are talking here about the human spirit having direct communication with the spirits from the Abyss. The church of Antichrist is a counter reality to the faithful church; it falsely imitates the direct fellowship of the human spirit with the Holy Spirit. As the Holy Spirit makes man into a holy temple in which God dwells, so too the spirit of Antichrist will seat himself in the temple that belongs to God, (man), and manifest himself by signs and miracles as if he were god.

There should be no confusing that 2nd beast of Rev.13 with the number 666 is NOT our Lord Jesus (Yeshua).

The meaning of that number 666 will only come about once one has understood the events of 7 Seals, Trumpets, and Vials, because that's the main reason it is given as a pointer to the coming Antichrist for the end of this world.

Isaiah 22 as a pattern for the end, it's the scribe Shebna that represents the role of the Antichrist, and Christ as the role of Eliakim fastened as a nail in a sure place.

Isa 22:22-25
22 And the key of the house of David will I lay upon his shoulder; so he shall open, and none shall shut; and he shall shut, and none shall open.
23 And I will fasten him as a nail in a sure place; and he shall be for a glorious throne to his father's house.
24 And they shall hang upon him all the glory of his father's house, the offspring and the issue, all vessels of small quantity, from the vessels of cups, even to all the vessels of flagons.
25 In that day, saith the LORD of hosts, shall the nail that is fastened in the sure place be removed, and be cut down, and fall; and the burden that was upon it shall be cut off: for the LORD hath spoken it.
(KJV)

That last verse about a nail fastened in the sure place being removed is about the scribe Shebna there, representing the 'crept in unawares' who work against Christ. In that day of Christ in our near future, their nail in a sure place will be removed.

The beast of Rev 13:18 cannot be considered both Jesus and the Beast that ascends from the bottomless pit. Howbeit one can refer to Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, our Saviour, as a beast? In consideration of the 666 I was told 3 is the number of God and 6 the number of man and Satan took those two numers to make his own by trippling the 6, arriving at 666. Personally, I find it hard to believe the Word of God as conveyed in the english language could be so skewed that truth is not only in jeopardy but actually destroyed.

The bantering of Scripture back and forth seems to tear at the Living Word of God rather than sustain it. Atheists claim that through scripture any understanding can be achieved... I would have to agree, if that research was designed to addle by bantering of scriptue.

Gosh, there is oh so much more I would like to say, but... is anyone here really ready for it? I don;t think so.

It's impossible to control who all come to a public Christian forum. It's sometimes difficult to distinguish some that come here claiming to be a Christian believer when they are not, simply because their working against Christ eventually comes forth in their own words. Then there's the deceived who can't really think for theirselves, and they just swallow doctrines of false prophets hook-line-and-sinker and then play them like a recording.

I noticed often when some come into the fold, they desire greatly to share what they think they know, sometimes what they think is right and often the the words are as a child... unseasoned. Then there are those that spend years in church that listen and study along the lines of their minister and truly believe what he teaches no matter how skewed. I used to belong to a church that had no concept of Revelation prophecy and knowing that, they refused to teach it. My personal desires was to understand endtime prophecy. I left that church but really only because my quest was for understanding endtime prophecy. The most narrow minded people I have encountered are ______________ and ___________ and the like, as I have seen the willingness to lie in an attempt to achieve a new member or promote their beliefs.

I guess they got it figured thatt if it takes lies to get them into church and steer them to Jesus it is ok?

Good day to all. It seems that I was misunderstood in my first post. What I mean is that the man (verse 18) is distinct from the second beast which is the false prophet. This man is NOT the second beast. He is NOT the first beast either.

As for me, these three are distinct from one another:
- 1st Beast with the number 666.
- 2nd Beast - the false prophet.
- The Man with the number Tav Resh Samech Vav.

Maybe, its my poor English or I have not explained it very well. I'm sorry if it has caused trouble to some.

The "another beast" starting at Rev.13:11 is the 2nd beast John was shown. That is the same man who's number is 666 per that same section of Scripture.

Rev 13:11-18
11 And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon.
12 And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed.
13 And he doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men,
14 And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live.
15 And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed.
16 And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:
17 And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.

All those parts in bold are speaking of that same "another beast", a 2nd beast. The subject of "the number of his name" carries over into this last verse, showing us the same one is being spoken of...

18 Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.

(KJV)

Greetings. As for me, the word “number” in Revelation 13:17 belongs to the 1st beast. Here’s why:

(Rev 15:2 ESV) And I saw what appeared to be a sea of glass mingled with fire—and also those who had conquered the beast and its image and the number of its name, standing beside the sea of glass with harps of God in their hands.

It says here that the beast that has an image is the beast that has the number of its name. This beast according to…

(Rev 13:14 ESV) and by the signs that it is allowed to work in the presence of the beast it deceives those who dwell on earth, telling them to make an image for the beast that was wounded by the sword and yet lived.

…is the beast that was wounded and that is the 1st beast (Rev 13:3).

The number of the name of the beast in verse 17 is very likely to be the mark itself of the (1st) beast. Read the verse below:

(Rev 14:11 ESV) And the smoke of their torment goes up forever and ever, and they have no rest, day or night, these worshipers of the beast and its image, and whoever receives the mark of its name."

The mark belongs to the name of the 1st beast that has an image.

The number of the name of the beast in verse 17 is very likely to be the mark itself of the (1st) beast. Read the verse below:

The mark belongs to the name of the 1st beast that has an image.

Translators have been open to bringing the Greek personal pronoun 'he, she, it, we, they' hap-hazardly into English. So you can't totally rely on that.

The first beast of Rev.13:1-2 is about a kingdom, comes up out of the sea, and Christ definied it as containing multitudes, peoples, nations, and tongues per Rev.17:15.

But the "another beast" of Rev.13:11, a 2nd beast, who exercises all the power of the 1st beast before him, is associated with a lamb with two horns, but speaks as a dragon. He's also the one that's to work great signs and miracles to deceive those on earth.

So that's the working of false worship pointed directly to that 2nd beast. Might want to look at Ezekiel 8, and Daniel 2 & 3 about the abomination idol. Per Dan.2:37-38, Daniel said the head of gold was king Nebuchandnezzar, who is a pattern for the 2nd beast. Nebuchadnezzar setup a golden image for false worship, which is the pattern for the image of the beast in Rev.13. Per Babylon history, two golden images were setup, one earlier around 20 feet high to Marduk, but then another which the historian Herodotus reported that was larger (around 90 feet per Dan.3:1), which was most likely the one Nebuchadnezzar setup at Dura. Both golden images had the images of a man.

One may wish to consider this.... when the beast does emerge the 2 witnesses will reveal him for who he is, yet the world wil deny the 2 witnesses and follow the beast... and so it is pretty clear that identifying the beast through his number will be challenged to obscurity for most.

Good Day,

Here’s how I view Ezekiel chapters 8 to 9 and Daniel chapter 3. The year and the month in Ezekiel 8:1 and the measurements in Daniel 3:1 could be denoting false object of worship as in Revelation 13 but there’s more to them than we think.

Many students of the Bible say that the man clothed in linen in Ezekiel chapter 9 which is a continuation contextually of Ezekiel chapter 8 represents the Lord Yeshua. I agree with them and the following verses support it:
Daniel 10:5-6
(Rev 3:12 ESV) The one who conquers, I will make him a pillar in the temple of my God. Never shall he go out of it, and I will write on him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, the new Jerusalem, which comes down from my God out of heaven, and my own new name.
(Rev 14:1 ESV) Then I looked, and behold, on Mount Zion stood the Lamb, and with him 144,000 who had his name and his Father's name written on their foreheads.

It is our Messiah who writes on the foreheads of His servants.

Likewise, the 4th man in Daniel 3:25 – the son of the god(s) and an angel (verse 28) – according to the words of King Nebuchadnezzar was also regarded by many as the Lord Yeshua. King Nebuchadnezzar was a polytheistic and he might not know about the pre-incarnate Lord Yeshua at that time. Should we consider what he had said about the 4th man? Whether we consider it or not, this 4th man could only be either:
- An angel or
- The Lord Yeshua Himself who is the Head of Angelic orders and was called the Angel of the Lord or the Angel of God many times in the Old Testament.

Who is this man? Let’s consider these things, the measurement of the false object of worship was 6o cubits height by 6 cubits breadth. In the middle of this chapter, the faith of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego were also measured – their faith to the true object of worship who also has the numbers 60 (Samech) and 6 (Tav).

Our Messiah was called the Amen in Revelation 3:14. The Hebrew word “Amen” came from the word “aman” which corresponds to Samech (60).

H543
'âmên
aw-mane'
From H539; sure; abstractly faithfulness; adverbially truly: - Amen, so be it, truth.

H539
'âman
aw-man'
A primitive root; properly to build up or support; to foster as a parent or nurse; figuratively to render (or be) firm or faithful, to trust or believe, to be permanent or quiet; morally to be true or certain; once (in Isa_30:21; by interchange for H541) to go to the right hand: - hence assurance, believe, bring up, establish, + fail, be faithful (of long continuance, stedfast, sure, surely, trusty, verified), nurse, (-ing father), (put), trust, turn to the right.

Give attention also to the other meanings of “aman” above (blue lettered words) and compare them to:

(Rev 3:14 ESV) "And to the angel of the church in Laodicea write: 'The words of the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of God's creation.
(Rev 19:11 ESV) Then I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse! The one sitting on it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he judges and makes war.

Now read the verses below and compare the meaning of the letter Vav (peg or nail) which has a numerical value of 6:

(Zec 10:3 ASV) Mine anger is kindled against the shepherds, and I will punish the he-goats; for Jehovah of hosts hath visited his flock, the house of Judah, and will make them as his goodly horse in the battle.
(Zec 10:4 ASV) From him shall come forth the corner-stone, from him the nail, from him the battle bow, from him every ruler together.

H3489
yâthêd
yaw-thade'
From an unused root meaning to pin through or fast; a peg: - nail, paddle, pin, stake.

With these things in mind, we can now see a pattern between Ezekiel chapters 8 to 9, Daniel chapter 3 and Revelation 13:
Number(s) : False Object(s) of Worship : True Object of Worship (Not necessarily in order)

Let’s go back to Ezekiel. Here’s the starting verse of the chapter 8:

(Eze 8:1) In the sixth year, in the sixth month, on the fifth day of the month, as I sat in my house, with the elders of Judah sitting before me, the hand of the Lord GOD fell upon me there.

Look at what is written in chapter 9 which is the continuation contextually of chapter 8:

(Eze 9:2 LITV) And, behold, six men were coming from the way of the Upper Gate, which faces north. And each had his shattering weapon in his hand. And one man among them was clothed in linen, and an ink horn of a scribe at his loins. And they went in and stood beside the bronze altar.
(Eze 9:3 LITV) And the glory of the God of Israel had gone on, from on the cherub where it was on it, to the threshold of the house. And He called to the man clothed in linen with the ink horn of a scribe at his loins.
(Eze 9:4 LITV) And Jehovah said to him, Pass through in the midst of the city, in the midst of Jerusalem, and mark a mark on the foreheads of the men who are groaning and are mourning over all the abominations that are done in her midst.

Notice the two words “mark” in verse 4. Here are their definitions:

1st mark:
H8427
tâvâh
taw-vaw'
A primitive root; to mark out, that is, (primitive) scratch or (definitely) imprint: - scrabble, set [a mark].

2nd mark:
H8420
tâv
tawv
From H8427; a mark; by implication a signature: - desire, mark.

Notice the 2nd “mark” came from the 1st “mark”. The 2nd “mark” is the name of the last letter of the Hebrew alphabet – Tav. This letter has a pictograph of a cross. A cross could be what the 2nd “mark” means.

This vision came before the incarnation of our Messiah.

Now, somewhere in the Internet, I’ve read about another interpretation of Tav Resh Samech Vav that also points to the Lord Yeshua. Here’s how it was interpreted:
Tav - has a pictograph of a cross.
Resh – has a pictograph and meaning of a head – The Lord Yeshua is the head of the church.
Samech – has a meaning of a prop.
Vav – meaning of a nail.

Put all these meanings and pictographs in one big picture then we’ll see our Lord Yeshua the Messiah crucified.

(Dan 3:1 ESV) King Nebuchadnezzar made an image of gold, whose height was sixty cubits and its breadth six cubits. He set it up on the plain of Dura, in the province of Babylon.

The measurements used in this image/idol could be denoting false object of worship but that doesn’t make number six or sixty a bad number. These measurements can also be found in the Temple of God and its courts:

(Ezr 6:3 ESV) In the first year of Cyrus the king, Cyrus the king issued a decree: Concerning the house of God at Jerusalem, let the house be rebuilt, the place where sacrifices were offered, and let its foundations be retained. Its height shall be sixty cubits and its breadth sixty cubits,
(Eze 41:1 ASV) And he brought me to the temple, and measured the posts, six cubits broad on the one side, and six cubits broad on the other side, which was the breadth of the tabernacle.
(Eze 40:14 LITV) He also made the pillars, sixty cubits, even to the court pillar, from the gate all around.
(1Ki 6:2 ESV) The house that King Solomon built for the LORD was sixty cubits long, twenty cubits wide, and thirty cubits high.

Other things that have the number six or sixty:

(Gen 46:26 ESV) All the persons belonging to Jacob who came into Egypt, who were his own descendants, not including Jacob's sons' wives, were sixty-six persons in all.
(Num 7:88 ESV) and all the cattle for the sacrifice of peace offerings twenty-four bulls, the rams sixty, the male goats sixty, the male lambs a year old sixty. This was the dedication offering for the altar after it was anointed.

In Revelation, there are deep mysteries that are hidden behind the number six.

Number. Number. Number. Who's got the number?

Attempting to decrypt the 666 code has been a favorite pastime for centuries. To this day, the meaning of the exact number eludes us all. There are some interesting developments in recent years, however, that may indicate a direction to look for the man who has the number.

Clues to the answer may be found in scripture.

King David once attempted to exercise a census of the population of his kingdom. (Chr 21:1) The Bible tells us that David was moved by the devil to count the people. The principle flew in the face of God because God does not want man to count strength in terms of population, size of an army, number of weapons, alliances, etc. God proceeded to punish David for attempting to take a census - for trying to count the people.

On the surface, a census seems innocent enough. A king ought to know the strength of his nation in order to execute his task as leader, but God is never counted in such endeavors and that is the pivot of the entire story. No census counts God. If God is indeed counted as a man's strength, then the count doesn't need to go any further. Are you following me so far?

One of the first major uses of the modern calculating machine (computer) was in the performance of the US census of 1890. During WWII, advanced programming capabilities were developed and following the invention of the transistor in the 1950's and the micro-chip shortly thereafter, the use of computer technology became the basis for human civilization. Today, we cannot conceive of life without digital counting machines, none of which include God in any of their calculations.

Until the invention of the modern computer, Rev. 13:16 had no meaning. After that point in time, interpretations always included some sort of computerization in their arguments. This point is significant. It is so pervasive that we take it for granted, but it was not always so.

In fact, all interpretations seem to agree on two linked points - the computer and international finance as a prime focus of end times wickedness. The word 'machination' even carries a context of evil. The computer, like the gun, is only a finely made machine. It's use, however, may be for good or sin. Some may agree that the computer is capable of much more damage than any gun (see cyberBullying, identity theft & digital sex). But though scripture indicates that the man of sin may employ a machine for his wicked ends, he himself will have a numbered name. Enter the false messiah.

Jesus warned us to beware of self-styled messiahs. In fact, He stated that there would be many such men.

All the major religions speak of a great leader at the end of time.

Buddhists call him the fifth Buddha, Hindus call him the 10th Avatar, Muslims call him the 12th Imam (Mohammad al-Mahdi). Notice that all of these claim a man with a number. Only Jews and Christians look for a man with a name, Messiah Jesus.

The number is the number of a man and a man's purposes. Those who rely too heavily upon a numbered count of their strength will fail because they have not numbered God in their calculations. I suppose it may also be inferred that those who rely upon their counting machines may also be mistaken as to their strength and cleverness. What all interpretations of the man of sin agree upon is that the man will have a number. All we have to do is count.

As for me and my family, we only have to count to 1. How about you?

but that's just me, hollering from the choir loft...

I really enjoyed these posts. I am also enjoying the link to your site, Mr. Bebe.
For what it's worth, I agree that 666 is much more enigmatic than people give it credit for.
I dig your Tav, Rosh, Samech, and Vav description. The Isaiah 22 verses were interesting:

These verses refer to the Day of the Lord events in Jerusalem, but also Jesus. Clearly, 666 indicates that the antichrist is pretending to be Jesus.

John 5:43
I have come in my Father's name, and you do not accept me; but if someone else comes in his own name, you will accept him.

We know the antichrist goes into the 3rd Temple and calls himself God AND is accepted by the Jewish people. In essence, the antichrist is merely the Jewish messiah. But here's where it gets tricky - look at it from a Jewish perspective: they are looking for Messiah Ben Joseph who builds the temple in 3 days/ years and Messiah Ben David the conquering king. To Christians this is one individual, Jesus. But 2 to Jews. Messiah ben Joseph http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Messiah_ben_Joseph and
Messiah ben David http://www.menorah.org/tembd14.html

IMO, which seems to be a strangely unpopular opinion given the mountains of evidence for it, these individuals are Prince William (messiah ben Joseph) and Prince Harry (messiah ben david). William's gematria is 2013 (add 3 years to get the 3rd temple in 2016) and Harry's gematria is 1666. There's nothing I have seen that explicitly says 666 is a bad number. In fact, if it refers to Jesus, then the antichrist couldn't have 666 because that is Jesus' number - Satan can only look like Jesus, hence 1666 and not 666.

Hopefully, this doesn't take us too off topic, but here's how I see it playing out:

The pope is the Jewish antichrist Armilus, the 1st round antichrist or false prophet. William and Harry are the 2nd round beasts. This would make for a 10 year tribulation (Rev 2:10).

When the events of 12-21-12 disrupt the world economy, there will be 5 months of dislocation that send ungodly people into despair over their ruin and lack of government (Trumpet 5 and the 1st falling of Babylon and a subsequent offering of the mark). Then 5 months later the 1st round 2nd beast - a decoy beast if you will) takes power in the US, making the ungodly happy to have a govt again (even though it is the FEMA 10 states and martial law - the 4th beast of Daniel 7 with 10 horns). 5-21-13 (5 months later 12-21) plus 1260 days is 11-1-16, the 1st Tues of Nov. election day. In other words, the end times have been constructed to enable the following President to have fulfilled prophecy, defeating the decoy antichrist. The "blessed" 1335th day is 1-16-17, the inauguration day of this "holy" President. People will "vote out" the "evil President dictator" and put in the new "holy President" (a very bad person also).

So, this last evil pope takes power on 12-21-12, add 1260 days to get 6-3-16, and 6-4-16 for the end of that Pope and the start of the new Beast. 6-4-16 would be the Trumpet 6 war. 6-4-16 plus 2520 days (7 lunar years covenant) is 4-29-23, the last day of Passover. Subtract 7 solar years to get 4-29-16, also the last day of Passover, would be when Messiah Ben Joseph (imitating Jesus as starting the new temple at His passover sacrifice) sacrifices himself, Armilus killing him, but Messiah ben David, Prince Harry will "resurrect" him as per Jewish prophecy (here is where we get into William getting his consciousness "downloaded" into a robot. Harry makes people worship an image of the beast that lives.) Trumpet 7 would be the start of the 3rd Temple on 12-24-16 when Hanukah lands on Christmas. Add 2300 days to sanctify the temple (Dan 8:14) and you get 4-29-23 again. From Rev 15:8 we know that the temple cannot be entered into until the 7 bowls are poured out, so it is only at the very end that antichrist can go into the temple to proclaim himself God, after it has been ritually purified.

This would be the Bowl 6 war, Armageddon. 30 days later would be 5-28-23, (the 1290th day from 11-16-19) Christian pentecost. 3.5 days later is the Jewish pentecost, Shavuot on 5-31-23 sundown and 6-3-23 would complete the 7 year tribulation. Christ breaks the Jewish covenant in the middle of the last week, the literal 70th week of Daniel. The 1335th day would be 10 days before tisha bav on 7-27-23.

Too much speculation outside Holy Writ. Moreover, the antichrist is to appear in Jerusalem, not the USA and not Britain, and he's coming as a fake Christ (Messiah), trying to actually fool the whole world into thinking he is GOD. No prince in Britain nor anywhere else is going to fulfill that, for the people know they ain't no Messiah.

It's impressive how many people have fallen for the Protestant teaching of the revived Roman Empire. How is the Pope is a real threat to the world today. And how will he or Catholicism fulfill the prophecies of the end?
I guess people just don't see the evil in Islam. But they love to demonize their own. Hey. Maybe the next 9-11 will impact you the way the first one did me.

Kaoticprofit, I see the evil in Islam and I wonder how this religion could have eve3r survived with so much ambiguity in its teachings.
On topof that the fact it was started roughly 500ad... People want their "own" god so bad, so their own personal desires can be justified no matter how perverse.... wow.

With that said... A religion with the world strength such as the Roman Catholic Church possesses... means a perverted pope could be embraced easily by the governments of the world. I believe it is the only religion that transcends Christianity in manner of respect given by other religions other than Christianity.

What's not amazing is that the Biblically illiterate believe Protestant Christianity is connected with Roman Catholicism, when the Protestant movement was about getting BACK TO GOD'S WORD DE FACTO AS WRITTEN.

Iknow who the false prophe is and I know what the first and second beasts are.
But I didnt know Isaiah wrote of the false prophet till now.I was quite stunned to read what you quoted in Isaiah because Ive been studying the religion of the false prophet and he does indeed claim to have the keys of heaven.

Joseph Smith is the one who claimed to have the keys of heaven and every mormon prophet after him is said to have the keys of heaven. As the story goes in the book of Daniel which I have been watching many years. This king of the north who is this false prophet gives those in Judea an abomination that causes Jerusalem to be desolate. This abomination Ive understood for decades to be the mark of the beast. And the beast is the Israeli goverment which the occupants of Israel have followed from all the world into the promised land.Anyways.Thanks for posting this.

This is just a guess, but the mark that would be given to those i Judea would probably be for national scurity. To prove they are Israel.

The head of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints ( Mormons) is the President of the Church, whom the members revere as the prophet, seer, and revelator in a biblical sense. He is entitled to receive revelation from God to guide the Church and the world as His mouthpiece on the earth. The President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the only living person who holds all of authority (or keys) necessary for individuals to receive the ordinances of salvation and become worthy of entering into the presence of the Lord, and to receive the gift of eternal life. Eternal life refers to the quality of life lived in the highest degree of glory--or celestial kingdom--after this life.

Im sure it is the people of Israel who recieve the mark and those who do not worship the beast in Israel are killed for thier testimony of Jesus in Daniel 11;
[sup]33 [/sup]And they that understand among the people shall instruct many: yet they shall fall by the sword, and by flame, by captivity, and by spoil, many days.

In case you didnt know.
Im giving you an idea how blasphemous mormon doctrin is.

One Mighty and Strong is a person of unknown identity who was the subject of an 1832 prophecy by Joseph Smith, Jr. , the founder of the Latter Day Saint movement. The prophecy is said to echo the words and prophecy of Isaiah 28:2. The One Mighty and Strong was said by Smith to be one who would "set in order the house of God" and arrange for the "inheritances of the [Latter Day] Saints". Since this prophecy was uttered, many Latter Day Saints have claimed to be or to have otherwise identified the One Mighty and Strong, and many schismatic Latter Day Saint sects have arisen as a result of these claims

At Revelation 13:18, it says: "Here is where wisdom comes in: Let the one that has intelligence calculate the number of the wild beast, for it is a man’s number; and its number is six hundred and sixty-six." It need be noted that Jesus, in speaking of unlocking "the mysteries of the kingdom" (Matt 13:11), that most would be unable to do, for he used the Greek word syniemi (meaning "to mentally put the pieces together") several times at Matthew 13 regarding the "kingdom" in mostly a negative sense.

He said to his genuine disciples: "To you it is granted to understand the sacred secrets of the kingdom of the heavens, but to those people it is not granted. For whoever has, more will be given him and he will be made to abound; but whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken from him."(Matt 13:11, 12)

He further said: "This is why I speak to them by the use of illustrations, because, looking, they look in vain, and hearing, they hear in vain, neither do they get the sense of it; ("get the sense of it", Greek syniemi) and toward them the prophecy of Isaiah is having fulfillment, which says, ‘By hearing, you will hear but by no means get the sense of it (Greek syniemi); and, looking, you will look but by no means see."(Matt 13:13, 14) Thus, most cannot unveil the meaning of the book of Revelation, which includes revealing the meaning of the ' wild beast's number ' as "six hundred and sixty-six."

To grasp what is meant by "six hundred and sixty-six" as attached to the "wild beast", a person needs to look at numbers in the Bible. For example, at Genesis 4, following Cain killing his brother Abel and telling Jehovah God that "it is certain that anyone finding me will kill me me", God says to Cain: "For the reason anyone killing Cain must suffer vengeance seven times."(Gen 4:15) What did he mean by "seven times" ?

And God established that a week be "seven days", bringing it to completion.(Gen 2:1-3) In the dream that Jehovah caused Pharaoh to have, there were "seven cows" both full fleshed and thin, along with "seven ears of grain", both full ears and thin ears (Gen 41:1-7), denoting an end or completion of a time period with regard to food.

Or concerning the plagues that God placed upon Pharaoh in the year 1513 B.C.E., whereby after Aaron struck the Nile River, turning it into blood, that "seven days came to be fulfilled after Jehovah's striking the Nile River."(Ex 7:25) Or of the lampstand that was to be placed in the Holy compartment of the tabernacle, that it was to have "seven lamps" (Ex 25:37), making it complete in God's eyes.

Or of Aaron and his sons being anointed as priests, that "you will take seven days to fill their hand with power."(Ex 29:35) At this point, the anointing was complete, or brought to perfection. Or of the high priest who was to "spatter some of the blood (of the sacrificial bull) seven times before Jehovah in front of the curtain of the holy place."(Lev 4:6)

This brought to completion the number of times that the high priest was to spatter the sacrificial blood before "the curtain of the holy place" or Most Holy. And when Moses anointed the altar of the tabernacle, "he spattered some of (the blood) seven times upon the altar and anointed the altar". This completed the anointing of the altar, as well as "all its utensils and the basin and its stand so as to sanctify them."(Lev 8:11)

So what does the number seven mean in the Bible with regard to Jehovah God ? That something has been completed, fulfilled, or is perfect. On the other hand, the number six falls short. Hence, with the number of the "wild beast" or all the political governments, as being placed by Jehovah God as "six hundred and sixty-six", that Satan's political creation of all human governments falls far short, being reenforced three times, denoting gross imperfection as a "man's number".

Though people of the nations continue to put faith in their respective political governments, those who recognize Jehovah God and his kingship, understand that the political "wild beast" cannot bring genuine peace to the earth, always falling miserably short. These loyal ones never give allegiance to the political governmental authorities, but always to Jehovah God, even as Jesus did.(Matt 4:10; John 4:22-24)
