intelligent post lforrest.
a verse comes to mind. "For he hasn't given us the spirit of fear but of power, love, and a sound mind."
that verse would imply that if the Lord hasn't given us the spirit of fear, that the spirit of fear comes from the enemy."
much peace my brothers and sisters, and hopefully no fear.

and moving along there is a supernatural aspect to most horror/scary movies.
the article goes into some explianation of that:

Many have asked, is it a sin to watch horror movies? Is it wrong for Christians to watch horror movies? Is it OK for a Christian to watch a horror movie? This article is for those people who want to know the truth about the subject.
Horror movies are created by disturbed and evil people, by the inspiration of the devil, for the purpose of manifesting demonic wickedness and evil in a tangible, visible and audible way.
Horror movies contain evil wickedness, murder, rape, abominations and various satanic content that traumatizes the viewers brain, emotions, mentality and subconscious. This is the goal.
Horror movies are used by devils to enter evil concepts and ideas into the viewers brain.
Demons hang out in theaters, rental places and homes in which horror movies are distributed and viewed.
Some of the results of watching horror movies are immediately realized. The feelings of being disturbed, fearful, anxiety, fright...
Due to demonic power attached to horror movies, the long term results of horror movies can create ling long bondage & strongholds to the enemy. People can have evil, perverse, abominable thinking, disturbing ideas, sick images, warped memories, and evil thinking about others in their brain throughout their life, due to the traumatic wickedness that was sown into their brain through the participation in horror movies.
The Holy Ghost of Jesus Christ forbids and rebukes this type of content.
Therefore if someone who claims to be a "Christian" takes part in this type of content, it is questioned why the Holy Ghost is not active in their life (leading and reproving them away from this).
If the Holy Ghost is not active in their life, then it is questioned what is keeping the Holy Ghost from being upon them? (Willful partaking in wickedness?)
If the Holy Ghost is not upon their life, then it is questioned whether or not this person is really a Christian, because Jesus himself said that the Holy Ghost would come upon his saved people, and lead them away from darkness and wickedness like that which is found in horror movies.
Even after a person get's SAVED by Jesus Christ, it can take years of work to heal and repair the destruction effects of horror movies on the brain, thoughts, emotions, spirituality and subconscious. Take warning!
"Abstain from all appearance of evil."

We all experience the war between our flesh and spirit. maybe your current condition or attitude is evidence of the new life within you. You become discussed with your current condition, worn out, but you will rise again. Bin there more times than I care to count

1 Corinthians 10
[sup]12 [/sup]Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall. [sup]13 [/sup]No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.

[sup]3 [/sup]I thank my God upon every remembrance of you, [sup]4 [/sup]always in every prayer of mine making request for you all with joy, [sup]5 [/sup]for your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now, [sup]6 [/sup]being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ; [sup]7 [/sup]just as it is right for me to think this of you all, because I have you in my heart, inasmuch as both in my chains and in the defense and confirmation of the gospel, you all are partakers with me of grace. [sup]8 [/sup]For God is my witness, how greatly I long for you all with the affection of Jesus Christ.
[sup]9 [/sup]And this I pray, that your love may abound still more and more in knowledge and all discernment, [sup]10 [/sup]that you may approve the things that are excellent, that you may be sincere and without offense till the day of Christ, [sup]11 [/sup]being filled with the fruits of righteousness which are by Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.

Lets see now, fear is a spirit not from God and is therefore from the enemy. This is confirmed by reports I have heard of people who have encountered demons and experienced dread.

Yet fear is an integral part of this fallen world, you can't even cross traffic without the fear of being struck by a car. In this instance fear would have you not cross the street, it would have you trapped on the other side of the road. But if we allowed fear to dictate to us what we should do that makes it our master. People are slaves to whatever has mastered them, and Christians shouldn't allow anything to master them.

It is through this realization that the meaning of a healthy fear can be realized. A healthy relationship with fear is to hear it so that we would be aware of a danger; then understand the fear rationally, and conquer it.

Ask yourself this question concerning a horror movie you have already seen, are you now more afraid of their subject matter after having seen the movie? Your answer to this question would determine if the film was beneficial or harmful to you.

the fear of the Lord Rex is different from the fear that the devil spreads. fear of the Lord is more of a reverance to him.

amen Rex, but we should also stand against the devil and his schemes, one of which are horror films.

I would classify between horror movies and horror horror movies. Movies like Jaws can be put into the term 'horror'. I would declare Jaws acceptable. I wouldn't declare Hostel acceptable.

I agree with your statement as far as it goes. The actions of Dracula, the wolfman and Frank N. Stein have typically been created for fear mongering - and still work well. As we all know, things have gotten worse.

Unfortunately a great deal of occult and sexual influences have crept into the genre. A relatively simplistic movie from the late 1950's was called 13 Ghosts. If any movie records a change in the tone of the creature feature, this one does. Barely fifteen minutes into the flick, the viewer is treated to the sight of children playing with a Ouija board. The experience - and on screen training in use - for the viewer may result in an unhealthy interest in spiritism. I personally know a young lady who became infested with unclean spirits as a direct result of dabbling with this "toy". It's not a toy. It's rather like watching a baby play with a hammer.

but that's just me, hollering from the choir loft...
