No!

There are many whom have never being to church never read a bible and never being baptised who will go to heaven, there are many whom have done all the above and will not, your faith is in Christ, that is enough. Ask Him yourself.

In all His Love

The thief on the cross was converted right then and there for simply believing on Jesus.

Luke 23:35 And the people stood beholding. And the rulers also with them derided him, saying, He saved others; let him save himself, if he be Christ, the chosen of God.
Luke 23:36 And the soldiers also mocked him, coming to him, and offering him vinegar,
Luke 23:37 And saying, If thou be the king of the Jews, save thyself.
Luke 23:38 And a superscription also was written over him in letters of Greek, and Latin, and Hebrew, This Is The King Of The Jews.
Luke 23:39 And one of the malefactors which were hanged railed on him, saying, If thou be Christ, save thyself and us.
Luke 23:40 But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Dost not thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation?
Luke 23:41 And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss.
Luke 23:42 And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom.
Luke 23:43 And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, Today shalt thou be with me in paradise.

Only God makes that kind of judgement. No human on earth can condemn a person to Hell or even save a person into Heaven. But if you are bothered about being baptize by water, my suggestion is that you imitate what Christ does because we are all called to be like Him. Christ is the Way to salvation and because He is the Way to salvation, imitate what He did. In other words, Christ chose to have Himself baptized by water (despite the fact that He did not need to), then get yourself baptized by water. Why? Because Christ is the only example to follow.

Baptism is a symbol - and a confession of your faith but is not a requirement for salvation...the answer is no.
Romans 10: 9-10 confess and believe is the only requirement. John's baptism was the baptism of repentance by water [a symbol]. Christ's baptism was his death, resurrection and sending forth of the promised - Holy Spirit. [the real thing]
Our baptism is by faith in Christ's finished work on the cross.

Shalom!!!

Most importantly......believing is not just saying "I believe that God exists." If a person truly believes then he/she will be obedient to Christ's words when He says:

Mark 16:16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.

This verse is talking about Christ's baptism. Mark 16:16 is after Christ's the death and resurrection.

The only requirement for salvation, is confess and believe... :)

Romans 10:8-10
8 But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith which we preach): 9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Mark 16:16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.

Acts 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

Acts 2:41 Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.

Acts 8:12 But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women. 13 Then Simon himself believed also: and when he was baptized, he continued with Philip, and wondered, beholding the miracles and signs which were done.

Acts 10:47 Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we? 48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.

Acts 19:3 And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized? And they said, Unto John’s baptism. 4 Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus. 5 When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.

Gal. 3:27 For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.

Baptism is essential to salvation. Mark 16:16 clearly states the he that believes and is baptized will be saved.

Peter when preaching on the day of Pentecost, told all those in earshot, in front of all the other disciples of Christ (Apostles) that they must repent, be baptized and receive the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in tongues.

3000 souls were added to them (that is, made Christians) when they received the word and were baptized.

All throughout the book of Acts, we find the Apostles baptizing new converts in the name of Jesus. Jesus is the name that holds authority and power, and in His name we are to do all things (pray, baptize, preach, etc...)

Baptism is not essential to salvation...nor will it ever be...

"The way" was a new concept to many Judaic Jews who converted. Baptism was not a new thing to them however. Baptism of repentance was John's Baptism. We are Gentile believer's not Judaic Jews. Our only requirement was to confess and believe, by faith. That is all.

Shalom!!! ^_^

Jesus Christ is the ONLY Way to salvation. Jesus Christ had Himself baptized, and He allowed His Apostles to baptize others. What good is saying that Jesus Christ is the only way to salvation if we choose not to follow in His footsteps and do what He did? Afterall, He is our example and role model.

Furthermore, baptism did not come from men. It came directly from God. And because it came from God, I would follow what God has instituted. In the Holy Bible, Jesus asked the scribes and Pharisees:

Mark 11:30 The baptism of John, was [it] from heaven, or of men? answer me.

The answer is found in the Gospel of John:

John 1:33 And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost.

Johns baptism was preparation for Jews that believe John, still under the law, God instituted it as a turning away from the scribes and Pharisees.
John said I baptize you with water "in preparation" for Him that will baptize you with the HS. This was the sign of the separation of the sheep from the goats in the house of Israel. Those that believed John and to whom he pointed to --> Jesus--->water baptism was the covenant of separation, those Jews that believed and were baptized were new wine skins ready to be filled with the HS when sin and death no longer inhibited God from establishing His Spirit in men, threw His Sons sacrifice and intervention for all sins past present and future.

I am a Baptist and I will tell you without fear of any substantial contradiction the answer is no.

The moment you confess with your lips and believe in your heart that Jesus is Lord you are justified by God.

Baptism is the first act of obedience a new believer ought to engage when regenerated, but it is not a "death" sentence if it is not the first.

I will encourage you to seek Godly council on this, to pray, and study the scripture to help you understand this position. It is important, but you are already a Child of God and no longer a Child of Wrath.

You say you seek God privately in your own home. No problem.

But which God?

I assume the Christian one.

If so ..... then Prove it to me some day. Otherwise you are just typing something on a computer.

Stand up in public and profess Jesus as your lord and savior and go through the public christian ritual of baptism.

You do not have to do it to get to heaven if you are a christian , and we christians are not bound up with a whole bunch of religious rituals , but baptism is one way to publicaly proclaim your allegiance to Christ (or your trust in Him) .... sharing the bread and wine in communion is another , that is if you want to feel included in a group or a church or a christian community.

Nothing wrong with Staying away from church and seeking God in your own home .... it is probably the most genuine way to do it. Best wishes.

The original Greek emphesis for, "Saved" In Mk 16: 16, Is on the "BELIEVING", NOT Baptism.
The emphesis for, "Remision" In Acts 2: 38. Is on the "REPENTING", Not baptism.

Gal 3: 27, Isn't water baptism,
We [Born again Christians] Are baptised into the body of Christ by a Spiritual baptism, 1 Cor 12: 13.
NOT WATER BAPTISM, Which is only a symbol.
Baptism is One's identification with Jesus death burial and resurrection, We must die to self and be raised by Christ BEFORE we can be baptised.
Baptism is an outward sign of an ALREADY inward experience.

The disciples were baptised, But they werent saved until Jesus rose from the dead.
Paul was saved and baptised in the Holy Ghost, But he wasn't baptised in water at that time.
The Gentiles were saved, Baptised in the Holy Ghost and spoke in tongues, But they weren't saved at that time.

The Bible and the original Greek texts prove that water baptism DOESN'T save.

The Bible rests it's case.

I also originate from a Baptist Church and their emphasis on "Baptism" focuses on a public confession of faith, not as part of a requirement for salvation.

There are two reasons for baptism. The first one is repentance of sins. Baptism symbolized the repentance and cleansing of sins. If one does not repent of their sins, one cannot be saved. Therefore, believing and confessing His name is not enough. As the Holy Scripture says, "not everyone who says 'Lord, Lord' will enter into the Kingdom of Heaven but he who does the will of my Father." (Matthew 17:21).

The second reason for baptism is that it replaced circumcision. Circumcision was a sign showing that the Israelites were God's chosen people. An Israelite who chose not to be circumcised is cut off from God's chosen people (Genesis 17:14). According to St. Paul, baptism now replaced circumcision. This means that baptism is now a sign and a covenant between us and God showing that we are part of God's family.

Col. 2:11-12 In him you were also circumcised, in the putting off of the sinful nature, not with a circumcision done by the hands of men but with the circumcision done by Christ, having been buried with him in baptism and raised with him through your faith in the power of God, who raised him from the dead.

Notice how St. Paul linked the covenant of circumcision with baptism?

Don't let Selene convict you that water baptism saves, she belongs to a religious organization that teaches such things, water baptism is only one of a long list of requirements. To her water baptism is absolulty nessiasary.

The verse she produced is speaking of the Spirit baptism not water. The cercumsision done by Christ thats the Spirital.

Selene, you are incorrect in your understanding of this matter - the baptism Paul speaks of in the above passage, is the Baptism of Christ's death and resurrection.

The message of repentance that John preached was for Israel:

Acts 13:
He gave testimony and said, ‘I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after My own heart, who will do all My will.’ 23 From this man’s seed, according to the promise, God raised up for Israel a Savior—Jesus—24 after John had first preached, before His coming, the baptism of repentance to all the people of Israel. 25 And as John was finishing his course, he said, ‘Who do you think I am? I am not He. But behold, there comes One after me, the sandals of whose feet I am not worthy to loose.’

Jesus came for the Lost sheep Israel

Matthew 15:24 The Gentile woman's plea
24 But He answered and said, “I was not sent except to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.”
25 Then she came and worshiped Him, saying, “Lord, help me!”
26 But He answered and said, “It is not good to take the children’s bread and throw it to the little dogs.”
27 And she said, “Yes, Lord, yet even the little dogs eat the crumbs which fall from their masters’ table.”

Gentile believers were exempt from the Promises given to Israel

11 Therefore remember that you, once Gentiles in the flesh—who are called Uncircumcision by what is called the Circumcision made in the flesh by hands— 12 that at that time you were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world. 13 But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ.

...but brought near by the blood of Jesus

19 Now, therefore, you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, 20 having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief cornerstone, 21 in whom the whole building, being fitted together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord, 22 in whom you also are being built together for a dwelling place of God in the Spirit.

by faith....and a promise given to Abraham 430 years before the law came in. Gal 3:17

Galatians 3
6 Consider Abraham: “He believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness.” 7 Understand, then, that those who believe are children of Abraham. 8 The Scripture foresaw that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, and announced the gospel in advance to Abraham: “All nations will be blessed through you.”9 So those who have faith are blessed along with Abraham, the man of faith.

22 But the Scripture has confined all under sin, that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe. 23 But before faith came, we were kept under guard by the law, kept for the faith which would afterward be revealed. 24 Therefore the law was our tutor to bring us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith. 25 But after faith has come, we are no longer under a tutor.

Circumcision Acts 15
Conflict arose between Paul and teacher's of the Law from Judea who professed that unless the Gentile believer's were circumcised according to the custom of Moses, they cannot be saved. Paul and Barnabus went to the Council of Jerusalem to have this matter clarified. After their much deliberation, a letter was given to them from the Council stating:

The apostles, the elders, and the brethren,
To the brethren who are of the Gentiles in Antioch, Syria, and Cilicia:

Greetings.
24 Since we have heard that some who went out from us have troubled you with words, unsettling your souls, saying, “You must be circumcised and keep the law” —to whom we gave no such commandment— 25 it seemed good to us, being assembled with one accord, to send chosen men to you with our beloved Barnabas and Paul, 26 men who have risked their lives for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. 27 We have therefore sent Judas and Silas, who will also report the same things by word of mouth. 28 For it seemed good to the Holy Spirit, and to us, to lay upon you no greater burden than these necessary things: 29 that you abstain from things offered to idols, from blood, from things strangled, and from sexual immorality. If you keep yourselves from these, you will do well.

Farewell.

It is clear, based on the above passages that circumcision was also not a requirement for salvation and therefore cannot be a shadow of baptism by water as you have suggested...

Shalom!!!

we act like the pharisees debating the fine points of the law ..... and all the while missing the essence of Christ.

remember what Christ had to say about the pharisees.

looks like we have come full circle.
