(faith;18274)
the old does not compliment the new, nor does the new compliment the old ~ i tell you the truth, that the new fulfills the old, but the old does not fulfill the new...thus, the New Testament fulfills the Old Testament & not vice verca.. we study the Old Testament, we honor the old, we cherish the old, for the past reminds us of where we came from & where we are going, but it is no longer the law for us to follow - only the words in red from our Lord Christ Jesus - these words are the law of which we are to follow & faithfully keep to the end.. it's curious to see how you overlook this, thesuperjag..the New Testament is our covenant with God through our Lord Jesus Christ; there is a parable that explains this..Matthew 9:15-1715 And Jesus said unto them, Can the children of the bridechamber mourn, as long as the bridegroom is with them? but the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken from them, and then shall they fast. 16 No man putteth a piece of new cloth unto an old garment, for that which is put in to fill it up taketh from the garment, and the rent is made worse. 17 Neither do men put new wine into old bottles: else the bottles break, and the wine runneth out, and the bottles perish: but they put new wine into new bottles, and both are preserved.the old does not equal the new, rather ~ the new fulfills the old...now to answer your other question ~ again, it is not for us to judge if we truly believe on Jesus Christ & keep his commandments & if you don't believe this response, then hearken to the Sermon - these are his words.. :bible:Matthew 5:38-4838 Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth: 39 But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also. 40 And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloak also. 41 And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain. 42 Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away. 43 Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. 44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; 45 That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust. 46 For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same? 47 And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so? 48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.i tell you the truth, God is perfect & that perfection is life everlasting through the grace of love, mercy & truth.. :study:if you would know the gospels, then you would also know that the sword that Jesus was speaking about is not what you think it is...as disciples of Jesus Christ, we are authorized to have a single offensive weapon to drive back the devil's agenda & that is the our sword, which is the word of God - our Holy Bible & the testimony of Jesus Christ & the Apostles that came after him - again, the sword is the word of God.. here's the scripture for everyone to see..Luke 22:35-3835 And he said unto them, When I sent you without purse, and scrip, and shoes, lacked ye any thing? And they said, Nothing. 36 Then said he unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one. 37 For I say unto you, that this that is written must yet be accomplished in me, And he was reckoned among the transgressors: for the things concerning me have an end. 38 And they said, Lord, behold, here are two swords. And he said unto them, It is enough.here is the interpretation, that when Jesus walked the world, the light was in the world & the Apostles learned from him, without fear, & carefree to spread the good news of the coming kindgom of God...take note that he now tells his disciples that soon the light will be taken from the world & he tells them to prepare for the coming darkness - to sell their garment & buy a sword means to renounce the world & purchase the word of God.. our only weapon is the sword that we carry daily, for it is this sword that will defend us from evil...everything else is defensive - hence the armor of God that the devil cannot penetrate & has no power over.. if you think this sword is a weapon to destroy life, then you have made the same mistake that his disciples made originally, for our Lord stated it plainly but the disciples misunderstood it as something else & this is not the first time this has happened.. though the Apostles became strong in the faith in Acts, they were slow on the uptake when Jesus was with them, but our Lord allowed the disciples to carry actual swords to further give the example or what to do & what not to do - if you read further into the gospels, it shows that Jesus was displeased when the disciples cut the ear from one of the servants in the mob, & Jesus healed the servant & restored his ear - telling his disciples to put away such weapons..of a truth, a sword is the word of God & that is the only weapon we will ever need ~ walk with Jesus Christ & there will be no need to fear Babylon & all that is in it, & the devil & all that is in him, or his host of fallen angels - a shadow of their former selves whose fate has been ordained by the most Holy & the Lamb that sits as His right hand.. even to wound thy neighbor trangresses the commandment of Jesus Christ - love thy neighbor as thyself, for it you love a lot - you will forgive a lot, but if you love little, you will forgive little...& make no mistake, for those who think they are beyond saving - hearken to the sign of the prophet Jonas, for it holds true until the time of our Lord's return at the last day..
Well, faith, noone can refute you since you are so eloquently and accurately using the Scriptures. It is so hard to give up worldly desires of this world, which are satan's biggest tools to allure people. It is so easy for Satan to use likewarm, spoiled christians.
