I agree with you the old covenant is no longer valid. But that doesn't mean the laws of the old testament passed away, especially Yahshua said it and you ignore it.
How are we ignoring it?????
And let me ask you a question. How can one forgive if they never ask for forgiveness, but wants to continually do evil against the person and/or the family and never repent to Him.
when it comes to nation against nation no one knows who is evil or not. All nations believe their opposers are the evil ones. And Jesus is the one, only one, who knows who is evil or not. You continually asking the same questions over and over Jag.
True repentance comes from the heart, not lip servicing. The Old and the New compliment each other.
You are taking God's position by judging other nation by saying they are evil ones and your country is the saint. How arrogant of you. Arrogance is very evil, Jag.

How are we ignoring it?????What's interesting is the fact that my previous post was address to faith, not you though. But you insist...YHWH uses war for corrections. And He expects us to use common sense. And Yahshua said that he came not to change the law. Funny is that lot's of Christians said that He change it.Lovest ye in Christ Yahshua our Lord and Saviour.P.S. I need not further to continue this discussion. Bye, love you.

Where in the world did you come to this conclusion of that my country "is the saints" and other country "is the wicked" I merely am saying a fact, not judging.
The fact is you are supporting your country's military. They are figting to defend your country. Why do you fight? Isnt that because you believe your enemy is attacing your country and therefore they deserve to be attacked?
Not really Hitomi, you are repeating the same thing over and over though. I just asked a different question...well if that's what people believes, I don't believe their saying, as we are equal and we are to examine their fruits.

We are talking about Jesus' "love your enemy" and YOu have been saying it is ok to kill for self-defense and thats not at ALL what Jesus is saying. You are saying Jesus is saying something that He has not. You are correcting Jesus what Jesus said: "He didn't really mean to LOVE our enemies if they wanted to do us harm."
What's interesting is the fact that my previous post was address to faith, not you though. But you insist...YHWH uses war for corrections. And He expects us to use common sense. And Yahshua said that he came not to change the law. Funny is that lot's of Christians said that He change it.
There you go again, you are ignoring Jesus' words: "love your enemy, do good to those who hate you."

the old does not compliment the new, nor does the new compliment the old ~ i tell you the truth, that the new fulfills the old, but the old does not fulfill the new...thus, the New Testament fulfills the Old Testament & not vice verca.. we study the Old Testament, we honor the old, we cherish the old, for the past reminds us of where we came from & where we are going, but it is no longer the law for us to follow - only the words in red from our Lord Christ Jesus - these words are the law of which we are to follow & faithfully keep to the end.. it's curious to see how you overlook this, thesuperjag..the New Testament is our covenant with God through our Lord Jesus Christ; there is a parable that explains this..Matthew 9:15-1715 And Jesus said unto them, Can the children of the bridechamber mourn, as long as the bridegroom is with them? but the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken from them, and then shall they fast. 16 No man putteth a piece of new cloth unto an old garment, for that which is put in to fill it up taketh from the garment, and the rent is made worse. 17 Neither do men put new wine into old bottles: else the bottles break, and the wine runneth out, and the bottles perish: but they put new wine into new bottles, and both are preserved.the old does not equal the new, rather ~ the new fulfills the old...now to answer your other question ~ again, it is not for us to judge if we truly believe on Jesus Christ & keep his commandments & if you don't believe this response, then hearken to the Sermon - these are his words.. :bible:Matthew 5:38-4838 Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth: 39 But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also. 40 And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloak also. 41 And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain. 42 Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away. 43 Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. 44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; 45 That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust. 46 For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same? 47 And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so? 48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.i tell you the truth, God is perfect & that perfection is life everlasting through the grace of love, mercy & truth.. :study:(Wakka)
Jesus said to carry a sword for self defense and only use it if there's no other option! What do you say about that!Note: We don't have to kill the raper/murderer. We can just wound them too
wink.gif
.
if you would know the gospels, then you would also know that the sword that Jesus was speaking about is not what you think it is...as disciples of Jesus Christ, we are authorized to have a single offensive weapon to drive back the devil's agenda & that is the our sword, which is the word of God - our Holy Bible & the testimony of Jesus Christ & the Apostles that came after him - again, the sword is the word of God.. here's the scripture for everyone to see..Luke 22:35-3835 And he said unto them, When I sent you without purse, and scrip, and shoes, lacked ye any thing? And they said, Nothing. 36 Then said he unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one. 37 For I say unto you, that this that is written must yet be accomplished in me, And he was reckoned among the transgressors: for the things concerning me have an end. 38 And they said, Lord, behold, here are two swords. And he said unto them, It is enough.here is the interpretation, that when Jesus walked the world, the light was in the world & the Apostles learned from him, without fear, & carefree to spread the good news of the coming kindgom of God...take note that he now tells his disciples that soon the light will be taken from the world & he tells them to prepare for the coming darkness - to sell their garment & buy a sword means to renounce the world & purchase the word of God.. our only weapon is the sword that we carry daily, for it is this sword that will defend us from evil...everything else is defensive - hence the armor of God that the devil cannot penetrate & has no power over.. if you think this sword is a weapon to destroy life, then you have made the same mistake that his disciples made originally, for our Lord stated it plainly but the disciples misunderstood it as something else & this is not the first time this has happened.. though the Apostles became strong in the faith in Acts, they were slow on the uptake when Jesus was with them, but our Lord allowed the disciples to carry actual swords to further give the example or what to do & what not to do - if you read further into the gospels, it shows that Jesus was displeased when the disciples cut the ear from one of the servants in the mob, & Jesus healed the servant & restored his ear - telling his disciples to put away such weapons..of a truth, a sword is the word of God & that is the only weapon we will ever need ~ walk with Jesus Christ & there will be no need to fear Babylon & all that is in it, & the devil & all that is in him, or his host of fallen angels - a shadow of their former selves whose fate has been ordained by the most Holy & the Lamb that sits as His right hand.. even to wound thy neighbor trangresses the commandment of Jesus Christ - love thy neighbor as thyself, for it you love a lot - you will forgive a lot, but if you love little, you will forgive little...& make no mistake, for those who think they are beyond saving - hearken to the sign of the prophet Jonas, for it holds true until the time of our Lord's return at the last day..

Well, faith, noone can refute you since you are so eloquently and accurately using the Scriptures. It is so hard to give up worldly desires of this world, which are satan's biggest tools to allure people. It is so easy for Satan to use likewarm, spoiled christians.

It's important not to confuse scripture that teaches us each individually how we should personally respond to persecution for our faith, and our governments God given duty to administer justice and defend it's people. Even if this requires war. There is a time for war, and it is part of God's purpose Ecclesiastes 3:1-8. Jesus didn't tell the centurion to repent and throw away his sword, he said what about this centurion's faith? Peter was rebuked for not submitting to the government Romans 13. He was told to put his sword back (away). A government that would rightfully put Peter to death (capitol punishment) for not submitting to them and trying to murder (not kill), but murder the authorities by not submitting to them. I know many believe Christians should be just like hippies because they believe that Jesus was, and they already have their minds made up about this. There is a false socialist Jesus that many believe in whose creation is grounded in what they feel instead of God's Word. Instead of giving God the benefit of the doubt when something troubles their heart and seeking answers through His Word, and until the answers come, if ever, at least trusting in His justice and mercy in the clarity of His *Whole* Word, they much prefer to mold idols out of their own standards of 'what they deem to be fair'. Romans 11:33 Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and His ways past finding out! 34 “ For who has known the mind of the LORD?Or who has become His counselor?”35 “ Or who has first given to HimAnd it shall be repaid to him?” As Luther once said about this passage..."Now, His judgments would not be past finding out if we could always perceive them as just."So much for your standards... So your position is for the military, I assume. You are going to ignore Jesus' command to "love your enemy", like most of the churches. It is so difficult to go against the nation isn't it?

i want to thank our troops for dieing for us. it is easy for me to sit and play games on the computer all day while our warriors are trying not to walk by a bicycle IED. and the lies being spewed no about getting them out quick. maybe they can but someone is telling fibs.i would probably want to be coming home too. i tried to sign up but was told i was too old and had a few too many duis. they carry a sidearm and they do not like it if yu have had more than 3 duis in a lifetime. but what about rifles. huh. bless jesus
(I never responded to the OP)So we want to thank our trooops for going out of their way to kill those who are not holy enough in our president's eyes?Wow....http://classiclit.about.com/library/bl-ete...-mtwain-war.htm^ for those of you who haven't read it, it's a very thought-provoking piece. War isn't just "spreading democracy" any more than war was just "purifying Germany."
Dave...;18399]It said:
So why wasn't Hitler justified by God, and Bush is? He isn't defending his people. Hitler thought he was justified, just like Bush does. This is completely secular reasoning, and biased secular reasoning, at that.
There is a time for war, and it is part of God's purpose Ecclesiastes 3:1-8.
That was a different time. Israel was a theocracy: America most decidedly is NOT. Israel had a right to wage war: it had the authority of God and directly represented Jehovah's interests on earth. This is no longer true of any nation on earth.
Jesus didn't tell the centurion to repent and throw away his sword,
1) The centurion may not have even been a warrior, for all we know: a centurion is merely a commander over a hundred government soldiers: he mighta been a sheriff. 2) Centurions of old, like soldiers today, are oath-bound to execute their service, whatever it is: Jesus taught His disciples NOT to swear oaths, but by no means does this mean we necessarily have a right to break the oaths we are already under.
he said what about this centurion's faith?
His faith had nothing to do with his occupation. Jesus also commended a person in a parable He told of a certain dishonest manager. Rahab is commended by Paul in his letters. They weren't commended for what they were, but specific things they DID. Telling a thief that he has great faith is not approving of his lifestyle, but of his faith.
Peter was rebuked for not submitting to the government Romans 13.
Show me ONE passage in the Bible that says that we are supposed to JOIN the worldly governments in any way. Everytime a passage says "obey the government", it's talking about taxes (civil law). Not about perpetuating the government's interests (like what it feels is right in a foreign affair in a certain middle eastern country).
I know many believe Christians should be just like hippies because they believe that Jesus was, and they already have their minds made up about this. There is a false socialist Jesus that many believe in whose creation is grounded in what they feel instead of God's Word.
Excuse me, but the Bible says that the road to hell is WIDE. MOST people (including many, many, many non-Christians) follow along your thinking, not mine. At a glance, it would seem that the "false socialist Jesus" who said "Love your enemies and do good to those who hate you" is the one going against the grain: from the trend of the amount of peole who believe this vs that, most people want to "feel" justified in killing their enemies. Exactly what you are doing. It takes GUTS to love those who hate you.
And instead of obeying JESUS when He says "Do GOOD to those who hate you;" instead of TRUSTING God not to screw over those who OBEY HIM; they say "Y'all are such hippies: the world would be overrun by Muslims if it weren't for America waging war: would God want that? Of course not."
I don't see you holding up God's standards: I see you holding up YOURS.Show us some real Scripture saying what you are saying. You won't find it.
[a bunch of links from biblebb dot com]Dave
All this material from one website: how objective.
"Except for ending slavery, fascism, Nazism and communism... War has never solved anything!"
Those problems haven't been solved: the most ardent proponents have merely been killed. But the ends justify the means, I suppose. So much for following Jesus.

Joyful I grow tired of your twisting the words to fit your personal hatered and Judgements. You have totally thrown out Gods words as Dave so eloquently quoted to you I have shown you the same scripture as Denver has and many others on this site. Yet you continue in your denial. You want us to join you in denying Gods Word. You think your debating us . No you are ignoring Gods Words. God controlls the nations and the governments--Gods Word not oursGod controls who lives and dies---Gods Word --Not oursYou have decided to put your own conclusions above Gods words and then quote Jesus as your reason for doing so "love your enemy" while you have choosen to hate yours and turns out the things you hate are the things God says are his. This borders on blasphomy. Now you can make all the accusations you like, but you are the one using the Lords name in vain To use the Sons words to deny the Father words is dangerous territory. If we didnt care we would not all be on you about this.

Paul was known as a "pestilent fellow".The truth is not always what tastes the best. Satan is the one who bases his doctrines on feelings and self.(kriss;18409)

Jesus says "Love your enemy: do good to those who hate you."HOW is joining the army and shooting your enemies DEAD "LOVING" them and "doing GOOD" to them???For crying out loud, most ATHEISTS understand this.
God controlls the nations and the governments--Gods Word not ours
Then we had NO RIGHT to fight against Hitler.Your conclusion, not mine. What a double standard.
God controls who lives and dies---Gods Word --Not ours
So I can kill whomever I want: if someone dies because of it, God wanted it to happen, and I have no reason to feel any remorse. Actually, I should be exalted: I am executing God's will.Where's my gun? I feel like following the Lord tonight.(intense sarcasm to prove a point)So much for your Biblical reasoning.
You have decided to put your own conclusions above Gods words and then quote Jesus as your reason for doing so "love your enemy" while you have choosen to hate yours
Correcting someone isn't hatred. I can't see how consciously killing them isn't.
and turns out the things you hate are the things God says are his. This borders on blasphomy. Now you can make all the accusations you like, but you are the one using the Lords name in vain To use the Sons words to deny the Father words is dangerous territory. If we didnt care we would not all be on you about this.
Let me share something with you:Let's say I know a man named Brother Samuel. Brother Samuel isn't particularly zealous about following Christ, but he likes having biblical backing for what he does. So, he says that God's will is such and such and such. And he provides a verse to back it up. Thing is, Brother Samuel believed this such and such before he even went to the Bible to see what it had to say on the matter. So he has fitted the Bible to his own thinking rather than fitting his thinking to the Bible. The Lord's will is true, right? So if BS is right, then his reasoning should be directly applicable and supported by other teachings of the Scriptures. If BS is incorrect, odds are, someone can take his reasoning and fit it to some absurdity to debunk the misconstruction of truth.*looks above*I may have hurt my witness a bit: not too many people would feel safe around me, because I want to follow the Lord. Which reminds me, I'm outa 9mm's.

Attacking you Faithful 1... I mean Joyful? It's nonsense. We are not attacking you. We don't attack anyone. We defend the Truth...We attack the spirit of the antichrist...not at you or anyone...just the spirit of the Devil.Lovest ye in Christ Yahshua our Lord and Saviour.
Then why are you concentrating on me????? You are hardly refuting to anyone else?????? They are saying exactly the same thing I have been saying except they are more eloquent than me.Sis, we love you and care about you, we are doing what we can to help you...It's not good if we just put the Son's Word and leave our Father's Word. These verses are Yahshua's Word.John 14:7 - If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.John 14:9 - Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Show us the Father?John 5:23 - That all men should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. He that honoureth not the Son honoureth not the Father which hath sent him.Matthew 5:17-18 - Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.Lovest ye in Christ Yahshua our Lord and Saviour.

That's great. But the Son doesn't contradict the Father. Your reasoning contradicts both.Unless you really DO carry around a Holy 9mm Semi-Automatic...o.o *backs away*

No, the first three scriptures is just common sense. The fourth one...Yahshua says that the law never changes. So the OT scriptures is so valid today. Yahshua never change it.Lovest ye in Christ Yahshua our Lord and Saviour.

I love how you ignore the hard and long comments I (and others) make and reply to my three-line post without even addressing what I said in order to make a vague statement that's supposed to back up your beliefs. ;P I'm sorry if I sound rude, but...I don't see any discussion going on here: anytime anyone brings up a valid point, it's ignored to bash someone who believes differently.

Back up my beliefs? Which one are you addressing? I'll back up Truth with scriptures, thank you very much as I'm not even in the mood at all to back away from what Christ said. I'll just attack the spirit of Death...boy that serpent loves to twist scriptures. I'll do the ones that you quote me on.(butxifxnot)
Paul was known as a "pestilent fellow".The truth is not always what tastes the best. Satan is the one who bases his doctrines on feelings and self.
Actually truth is always sweet if one loves it...sweet only becomes bitter if they hate sweet.Lovest ye in Christ Yahshua our Lord and Saviour.
