Webster's bible is a monumental display of foolishness.
When Webster altered pure KJV texts with "better" words,
his pride produced diminished KJV texts.

KJV Holy Bible
2 Timothy 3:15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures,
which are able to make thee wise unto salvation
through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
What is "Record Theory"? Being both undefined and used in a meaningless fashion, it is gibberish.

Given the above sample verse, Webster's version looks undeniably superior to the KJV version. "Sacred" is a synonym for "Holy", but even the KJV translators knew that the NT generally uses another word for Holy than the one in the verse here. And, "unto" is archaic for "to". Where's the justification to call the Webster, an expert at language, foolish for updating the KJV a bit, other than KJV prejudice?

What did Christians do for 1600 years before the KJV was published?

Is the KJV necessary for salvation?

Can non-English speaking people be saved?

makahiya117 ..... I love the KJV .... Just hard to understand most of it without an old English dictionary nearby

That is why we have the popular NLT and NIV see below .... (from 1 Corinthians 16)

=======================
(King James Version) (difficult)

1. Now concerning the collection for the saints, as I have given order to the churches of Galatia, even so do ye.
2 Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come.
3 And when I come, whomsoever ye shall approve by your letters, them will I send to bring your liberality unto Jerusalem.

====================================
(New International Version translation) (Easier)

1. Now about the collection for God’s people: Do what I told the Galatian churches to do. 2 On the first day of every week, each one of you should set aside a sum of money in keeping with his income, saving it up, so that when I come no collections will have to be made. 3 Then, when I arrive, I will give letters of introduction to the men you approve and send them with your gift to Jerusalem. 4 If it seems advisable for me to go also, they will accompany me.

=======================================
Corinthians 16 (New Living Translation) (very easy)

1. Now regarding your question about the money being collected for God’s people in Jerusalem. You should follow the same procedure I gave to the churches in Galatia. 2 On the first day of each week, you should each put aside a portion of the money you have earned. Don’t wait until I get there and then try to collect it all at once. 3 When I come, I will write letters of recommendation for the messengers you choose to deliver your gift to Jerusalem. 4 And if it seems appropriate for me to go along, they can travel with me.

Begotten is from the Greek words monogenēs pais which means ... "only child" .... or .... "the only one" ...... which is what all the translations end up saying anyway .... so what is the problem ?

1Co_3:3 For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men?

1Co_9:11 If we have sown unto you spiritual things, is it a great thing if we shall reap your carnal things?

You say you seek the truth but you will not go to the one who is the truth,

Joh_14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

He stands at the door and knocks, asking you to let Him in, but so few want Jesus,

Rev_3:20 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.

Because you prefer a book to Him,

Joh 5:39 Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.
Joh 5:40 And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life

As HE said.

Mat_15:8 This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.

or

2Ti_3:7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

Go to Jesus if you really want the truth

Nothing but listen to the stupid popes, although there was an underground, it was illegal for anyone to have a bible except the catholic clergy.

That about sums it up.

Religion enforced by force

Well that's a crass answer.

Do you realise that the Catholic Douay-Rheims English Translation was published before the KJV?

Do you realise there were many Bibles in English, and other languages for centuries before that?

Do you realise that the idea that it being illegal to have a Bible except for the Catholic clergy is untrue.

Do you realise that Protestants in England passed a law on 10 May 1543 banning common people from reading the Bible?

Do you realise that the printing press was invented by Guttenberg, a Catholic, in 1454/5 and the first thing he published was a Bible?

You are probably ignorant of all these facts but prefer your anti-Catholic prejudices to finding out the truth.

Did you know that Jesus is the Word of God,did you know the truth is in Him,but how will you ever know the truth He said Himself that you wont go to Him, ever learning but never coming into the truth because you abide not In Him so the truth is not in you.

Religion does the thing it does best it keeps people religious and far away from God.

In all His Love

People only seek the truth they want to hear, you really should dig deeper.

Yes I know Jesus is the Word of God. And the point of your snide comment is what?

Ref reading the Bible being illegal. Yes I know there are few classic instances that Protestants like to quote but they are special cases.

For example the oft quoted Canon 14 of the Synod of Toulouse in 1229 was about banning doctored versions of the Bible produced by Albigentian/Manacheans to support their heretical teaching. It was a local ban and it was not a ban on reading proper translations. There were also some bans on unauthorised translations because the Church was concerned about corrupt translations misleading people. There were plenty of good translations and the Church banned no-one from reading them.

Here is something else I bet you didn't know: The first German Bible was printed in 1466 - 58 years before Luther's.

And here is another one: 1477 – first printed Italian Bible.
In the years before Luther's Bible was published, the Catholics printed 20 different Italian editions of the Bible. So much for the Catholic Church trying to keep the Bible out of people hands.
