If we look through scripture especially in the OT we should gain understanding the Land/Nations are called by women's names such as Israel, America, Samaria and the people are called the children or sons such as Jacob, Ephraim, Esau of the land/nation.
Israel and Jacob are one in the same for Israel is the Woman or nation of God's people and Jacob represents the sons.
There are no female angels that is why when the sons of God saw the daughters of men, they spiritually fornicated with them to produce offspring having their thoughts obeying their words and producing their foul fruit. Son's of God must rule with the Father's Word and Spirit head over them and their land as the parent part of God that keeps the son's and their nation wives faithful to our Creator and Father.
That is why we call them FOREFATHERS for they set the rules and tone for our nation to be guided by and they must rule with God's Word EXALTED UP in the eyes of obedient children and not thrown down to trample on making our MOTHER-land unfaithful to God our Father.

2 Son of man, there were two women, the daughters of one mother:
3 And they committed whoredoms in Egypt; they committed whoredoms in their youth: there were their breasts pressed, and there they bruised the teats of their virginity.
4 And the names of them were Aholah the elder, and Aholibah her sister: and they were mine, and they bare sons and daughters. Thus were their names; Samaria is Aholah, and Jerusalem Aholibah.
5 And Aholah played the harlot when she was mine; and she doted on her lovers, on the Assyrians her neighbours,
6 Which were clothed with blue, captains and rulers, all of them desirable young men, horsemen riding upon horses.
7 Thus she committed her whoredoms with them, with all them that were the chosen men of Assyria, and with all on whom she doted: with all their idols she defiled herself.
8 Neither left she her whoredoms brought from Egypt: for in her youth they lay with her, and they bruised the breasts of her virginity, and poured their whoredom upon her.

Here is another example of the son's being rulers sons of God, taking a wife yet we see that the mother-land is the bride and wife spiritually speaking:
Isa 62:4-5
4 Thou shalt no more be termed Forsaken; neither shall thy land any more be termed Desolate: but thou shalt be called Hephzi-bah, and thy land Beulah: for the LORD delighteth in thee, and thy land shall be married.
5 For as a young man marrieth a virgin, so shall thy sons marry thee: and as the bridegroom rejoiceth over the bride, so shall thy God rejoice over thee.

The son's or children of a nation make the nation/land/woman to be faithful or unfaithful to the husband. The white robes will be the Brides wedding garment and the Bride is New Jerusalem and the son's/children are to 12 tribes who will be in the image of Christ who will walk with him as his body to marry the Bride.
Earthly FLESH Jerusalem has been divorced, but spiritual heavenly Jerusalem is our mother.

50:1 Thus saith the LORD, Where is the bill of your mother's divorcement, whom I have put away? or which of my creditors is it to whom I have sold you? Behold, for your iniquities have ye sold yourselves, and for your transgressions is your mother put away.
2 Wherfore, when I came, was there no man? when I called, was there none to answer? Is my hand shortened at all, that it cannot redeem? or have I no power to deliver? behold, at my rebuke I dry up the sea, I make the rivers a wilderness: their fish stinketh, because there is no water, and dieth for thirst.
