Jews For The Preservation Of Firearm Ownership have an interesting work called "Gun Control: Gateway To Tyrrany" which documents how the U.S. Gun Control Act of 1968 was lifted almost completely from Nazi Germany's gun laws.

http://jpfo.org/filegen-a-m/GCA_68.htm

If I recall, that work also documents the same gun legislations of some of the ex-Soviet states when Communism took them over.

In Kaotic Profit's defense, he might very well live right here in Idaho where I need a hunting license to shoot any of the millions of ground squirrels that infest our countryside and agriculture every spring. I was truly surprised when an Army MP asked me for my hunting license. I said, "you need a license to shoot rats on the ground?" But it was true. So I had to go through the course and get a license even though there's certainly no "bag limit" on these rodents.

Varmint hunting in PA requires no license and some species can be hunted at night with a flashlight (yes Mr. Raccoon... I'm looking in your direction).

IMO, it takes courage to stop participating in a practice that contributes to the harm of society. Consumerism and gun ownership are concepts that are marketed to the America people as positives - strengthening the economy and protection against the government. Attempting to slay these sacred cows brings condemnation and charges of treason, yet both ideas have lead us to over consumption and to killing one another. Therefore, I am willing to be courageous enough to consume only as much as I need and live without a gun in a society, which is routinely gluttonous and armed to the teeth - God help us all.

That's fine if you don't want to own a gun. Then don't. But if you are trying to take away other people's rights to own a gun (which I suspect you are) then I have a very big problem with you.

Vale the idea that you may have a 'very big problem' with me is not a surprise. As far as taking away your guns - as long as you continue to employ the slippery slope to gun regulation, you are going to believe I want to outlaw guns no matter what I say.

I'm not sure what "slippery slope" you're referring to. Canada took them away little by little and Australia in one fell swoop, so your statist comrades will take them away using every avenue possible. Obama, who you voted for, was so inspired by the Australian gun ban of 1997 following a mass shooting that he tried to artificially create that scenario in this country by telling American gun shops to sell guns to Mexican cartels so that a bloodbath would create the "need" for more gun control by promoting the Leftist myth that there is a "steel river" of guns going from American gun shops to Mexico and other 3rd world countries.

I don't need you to confirm you're part of the gun confiscation agenda. I'm already well aware of it.

Apparently, you fain ignorance regarding the slippery slope - you've done a wonderful job describing it. It is the myth that all regulation leads towards banning guns.

Uh...dude...you just said "I'm all for your gun rights to be taken away because you can't get anything right!" so I was right and now you're just contradicting yourself.
I said that to veteran because he said I speak with fork tongue. SEE! You can't get anything right either! I said that I own guns and I'm not against people owning guns. I'm against the mentality that guns don't kill people and very against the stupidity that there's no such things as assault weapons.

I am for taking peoples guns away if they think that guns don't kill people. With that level of intelligence we should send these gun owners to the recycle bin and the 3rd floor. (psych ward) We should send them in for a mental evaluation before we allow them to have anything to do with guns.

Gunners blow everything out of proportion. After all look at who they're listening to! It's nothing but a scare tactic. You will never take guns away from people in America.

You shouldn't own guns. You're an idiot!

See, now THAT'S the slippery slope. I called Kaotic Profit a whacked out left leaning statist and Kaotic Profit called BiggAndyy an idiot.

Or is that one-upmanship?

(unrelated) Did you all know that marriage is the leading cause of divorce?

heh, I've been owning guns longer than you've had hot meals. Just because you fall into the category of "gullible or stupid" doesn't mean that stupidity can be sloshed around to stain the rest of us. There is no such thing as an "assault" weapon. Do a search on Josh Sugarman and read for yourself. That's your homework for the day.

Well, I have to admit, I am old enough for hot and spicy food to send me to the toilet - and gun ownership never treated me so harshly.....

There is your loose association for the afternoon

People like you shouldn't be allowed to own guns until you've had a complete mental evaluation.
I pray that God fills you with wisdom and understanding.

Gun Violence and Gun Control

I want to start out by saying that I am not a gun enthusiast or a gun collector and I have no personal stake in this argument. I just want to bring up two points that seems to be lost in all of the frustration and anger resulting from this debate. There are two questions we need to consider:

 1. Would new gun laws actually resolve the current problems?
 2. Is this recent rise in gun violence directly related to the abundance of guns?
1. No, for obvious reasons discussed elsewhere.
2. No, ditto the first point.

"Never suspect a conspiracy when stupidity is an adequate explanation."
- CIA officer Miles Copeland THE GAME PLAYER

If we want to look for a common denominator for the problems that beset our nation, we need look no further than our rejection of God, of God's ordinances, and of prayer.

As a people we have told Father, Son and Holy Ghost to hit the road. And then when some tragedy strikes we hypocritically ask how God could have allowed this to happen, or applaud scoffers who mock Heaven itself for abandoning us. There is no hidden conspiracy here, but there is great evidence of massive arrogance and stupidity on the part of the American people.

Stupidity on the part of American political leadership is epidemic. Stupidity leading to hypocrisy, that is.

When attorney general Eric Holder signed off on the free gift of thousands of automatic weapons to Mexican drug lords, he wasn't removed from office and he wasn't even given a reprimand. The whole case was quietly swept under the rug. Hypocrisy. POTUS Obama is the chief hypocrite when it comes to gun control. What else would you call speeches and pressures to restrict the ownership of guns by private citizens? When Obama allows the gift of automatic weapons to criminals but denies them to honest American citizens that is hypocrisy (and stupidity in high places).

In Syria, POTUS Obama and his muscle headed partners in the Pentagon are fairly drooling at the prospect of sending bombs and missiles upon the head of President Assad. What is the crime? Allegedly the crimes of the Syrian government are murder. So how does POTUS Obama wish to address what he calls crimes against humanity? By bombing more humans. War begets war and violence breeds hatred and more violence. It is an axiom lost upon the hypocrite and the stupidity which has become a moral standard of American leadership and culture.

What's the problem with the guns? No problem that I can see. Big problems with leadership, though - big hypocritical problems. It's no xFiles conspiracy either, just plain old stupidity.

IF GOD DOES NOT JUDGE AMERICA HE WILL HAVE TO APOLOGIZE TO SODOM AND GOMORRAH.

and that's just me, hollering from the choir loft...

We continue to have people today who deny that our government ever gave guns to Mexican cartels. They're either Obama sycophants or just ignorant people who don't want to believe our government capable of such a thing.

I have been part of the 2nd Amendment fight in my Commonwealth and for this Nation for quite a while now and there is one universal truth in this: progressives can not be reasoned with because they are not using reason to make their decisions. Not a slam on them, just a simple fact. They are using their emotions first rather than sound judgement and common sense.. ok, that last part was a bit of a slam, but you get the picture. There is zero way to argue against emotion because by definition it is internal to the person. That is why we have "20,000 gun laws" and the hew and cry for more.
When the guns go, the last remnants of the American Republic will be buried.

This is not so with other nations, but it will be so with us because behind every anti-gun program is an agenda to remove other liberties held less dear. Many of them are already gone, diluted and hidden by licensing and restrictions of bureaucratic demagoguery. The younger generation in America has no living knowledge of the liberty once enjoyed by their parents and grand-parents. Autocratic restrictions are taken for granted.

The fight for liberty grows weaker each day. The only real answer is a root level national revival. Considering the rapidity with which America is turning away from and against God, this is not likely.

IF GOD DOES NOT JUDGE AMERICA HE WILL HAVE TO APOLOGIZE TO SODOM AND GOMORRAH.

This is called hypocrisy at the highest levels. POTUS Obama declares the danger of private law abiding citizens owning guns, while he approves of AG Holder giving thousands of such weapons to Mexican drug lords. And nobody says boo about it. Hypocrisy continues with Syria. The answer to violence is not bombing and cruise missiles. Government sanctioned murder is neither moral nor legal when the same American leaders who approve and plan it are the ones against private gun control.

Control Washington's ability to wage war and then we've got something to talk about in the private sector. Until then all we've got is political hypocrisy.
