If you are going to keep the Sabbath day, don't you then have to keep all the Sabbath days. What about the annual Sabbath.
If you are going to keep the weekly Sabbath, then shouldn't you also keep the High Sabbath, the annual Sabbath.

Passover is a high Sabbath, should a Christian celebrate passover or is Jesus our passover.
Atonement is another high sabbath, wouldn't you agree that Jesus has fulfilled that sabbath day, don't we as Christian's remember that day daily

Colossians 2 16
16 Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath

religious festivals are annual Sabbaths
New moon celebration monthly Sabbath
A sabbath day a weekly sabbath

I believe Colossians 2 plainly lists all Sabbaths, like the dietary law mentioned in the same verse they have been fulfilled in Christ

Since we have no calendar of that time, and since Hebrew time changed throughout the years, we have no way to know, so it is pointless to bicker over the whole 7th day, 1st day thing. It simply doesnt say which day was what.
We are very good at making complicated those things that are simple. Do you not think that God knew that thousands of years later there would be a seven day week which most of mankind would refer to for their understanding of time.

I happen to be believe that God knows everything past present and future so the creation account was written to make it simple for us to understand and that is God worked six days to create his creation and on the seventh day he rested because he had finished. That seventh day was known as the sabbath.

So logically it does not take much to work out that the seventh day comes after the other six and which day in our calendar comes after the other six....surprise surprise, Saturday.

To confirm this fact God said in his Commandments (number four) Remember the Sabbath to keep it holy. He called the seventh day the sabbath so it is obvious that the seventh day is the sabbath, not Sunday which is the first day.

As for being fickle, I don't find that seeking to follow God's word being fickle. I find that it is central to the gospel and probably the reason we have so many wishy washy christians is because they are not taught to follow God's word because the people teaching them don't.

John when it says in Exodus 20:8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy the Hebrew word for day is "yom" the same word that is used in the term "Yom Kippur" the day of atonement The word "yom" comes from the root meaning "to be hot", the warm hours between sunrise and sunset. This year the Day of Atonement is sunset 13th - sunset 14th September = one day.

At the same time Exodus says "Remember THE sabbath day, which is singular. If it was plural it would say "Remember the sabbath DAYS.

Hope that is of some help.

Folks, it appears that this thread keeps getting off-topic (with me being guilty of it, too ).

So, getting back to the topic, do Christians who insist on keeping a "Sabbath" understand that they aren't supposed to be customers in places of business during that "Sabbath"?

The Priest did a lot more stuff on the Sabbath than on other days so was that doing "work" for the people?

Sacred work during a Sabbath is not spoken against in the Bible. The topic of discussion is non-sacred worked being performed on the behalf of others.
Such non-sacred work takes place whenever Christians are customers in a place of business. According to a strict interpretation of the Sabbath commandment, it is wrong for people to perform non-sacred work on your behalf during the Sabbath. In order to keep the Sabbath, one has to remain outside of businesses on the Sabbath unless there is some kind of emergency. Emergency work is sacred work, too.

Very good for the most part we are in agreement here, but I might define your “sacred work” as not being “work” at all but worship, since the Bible does seem to define “work” as something different from worship.

So what can your “sacred work” include or what I prefer to ask: “What all can be included in righteous worship?”
We know what van worship is, so is righteous worship kind of a contrast to van worship?
