I have a question, that maybe someone can help me with. Why in Matthew does it say, That the prophet was Jeremiah, when we find the scripture in Zechariah and not JeremiahMat 27:3 Then Judas, which had betrayed him, when he saw that he was condemned, repented himself, and brought again the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders, Mat 27:9 Then was fulfilled that which was spoken by Jeremy the prophet, saying, And they took the thirty pieces of silver, the price of him that was valued, whom they of the children of Israel did value; Zec 11:13 And the LORD said unto me, Cast it unto the potter: a goodly price that I was prised at of them. And I took the thirty [pieces] of silver, and cast them to the potter in the house of the LORD. Zec 11:12 And I said unto them, If ye think good, give [me] my price; and if not, forbear. So they weighed for my price thirty [pieces] of silver.

It is from Zechariah. I didn't know the answer, so I looked up some commentaries. Some of the manuscripts say Jeremiah & some don't mention the name of the prophet at all. So the consensus of opinion is an error made by someone copying the text.

Correct, it is from Zechariah. Just an error on the name. Unlike most modern versions, Like Mark 1:2-3, They say it was only in Esaias (Isaiah), but KJB had the prophets.Lovest ye in Christ Yahshua our Lord and Saviour.Oops...I made a mistake thanks Denver... We need to see the word spoken and written when it comes to fulfilling scriptures...

I think the solution is simple, note that it is spoken and not written. A lot of people like to point to this as an inconsistency, but I think this presents a problem since the rest of the Bible tries so hard to agree. I don't think such an obvious mistake would have been left, period, regardless of belief. There are some further disagreements with the Matthew and Zechariah versus when you begin to study a little deeper in the Greek and Hebrew. However, I'll leave that on it's own if someone wants to do that. I think simply paying attention to the verb should solve any "problem."

I agree DenverMatthew 27:9 "Then was fulfilled that which was spoken by Jeremy the prophet, saying, "And they took the thirty pieces of silver, (the price of Him That was valued, whom they of the children of Israel did value); "Many of the higher critics call this a error in the Bible because it is not written in the Word, however they missed the whole verse. It doesn't say, "written", it says "spoken by Jeremy the prophet". Even in the original text in doesn't indicate that it was in writing. In the Greek, the word is "rhethen", and not "ho gegraptai". It was spoken by Jeremiah, and written down by Zechariah.Zechariah 11:12, 13; "And I said unto them, "If ye think good, give me my price; and if not, forbear." So they weighed for my price thirty pieces of silver." [12] "And the Lord said unto me, "Cast it unto the potter: a goodly price that I was pricsed at of them." And I took the thirty pieces of silver, and cast them to the potter in the house of the Lord." [13]

The worker is not important but the teaching.
