Follow what your heart tells you, and offer right sacrifices."Yes, to this day whenever Moses is reada veil lies over their hearts. But when one turns to the Lord, the veil is removed. Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom."(2 Corinthians 3:15-17)"Offer right sacrifices, and put your trust in the Lord."(Psalm 4:5)

'For you are no longer under the law, but under the Spirit.'
There are at least 20-30 different verses in the New testament explaining why we aren't under the law. If we lived perfectly & fulfilled the law; then the law would save us. The only person that accomplished this is Jesus. It is possible to follow a set of rules without having any meaningful relationship with the Author of those rules. So outwardly a man actions look good, but his heart doesn't love God. Which, of course, means he isn't fully obeying the law.One purpose of the law was to point out to us, that we are sinful. Both because we have a sinful nature. And because we like evil better than good.I keep most of the law. Because if God thought something was good & profitable in the past. Then it is still wise today. Why reinvent the wheel, when I can just go with a proven plan. But I'm not justified by the law. Instead I'm justified because Jesus kept the law. And His actions cover my sins.So what does the New Covenant ask of us? That we love God, with the totality of who we are. And we love our fellow man, in the same way we want to be loved. On the surface, it sounds like an easier route that the law. But if you ponder it some more, it requires a deeper commitment that following any set of rules. It encompasses all that we are. And all that we do. If not for the indwelling of the Spirit, we would have no hope of achieving this.

'It's like we are now like Adam and Eve in the beginning before they committed the sin. Question: how and in what way can we know what the Spirit wants us to do? Is it a personal thing for each different person or is it an unanswerable question?
No, not like before Adam & Eve sinned. I wish it were so. Because it would be much easier. Not until we get our new bodies, will be ever be free of the pull of our imperfect natures. Our natural (fleshly) desires pull in the direction of sin. Our spirit ones, in the direction of becoming more like Christ. And it is an ongoing battle over which we will choose to follow.Hearing the Holy Spirit sounds similar to hearing your own conscience. Or it might be compared to a gentle quiet voice, urging or nudge in a given direction. I can't adequately describe it.

I stray away from saying always listen to your heart. It will be right most of the time, but not all the time. The answer to your question is knowing the Word of that same Spirit. If you study and know Scripture as well as you are able, everything else becomes a whole lot clearer. You cannot just rely on yourself, hence the reason God gave us his Word. One of several occasionsMatthew 22:29
Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God.
II Timothy 3:15
And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.

I hesitate to say the Law is no longer valid because we are "no longer under the Law, but the Spirit". The Law is God's righteous standard. What has changed was the method or angle of righteousness to obtain that standard. Before, it was by the power of the flesh: "do this and you shall live". Now, with the Spirit, we emulate the nature of the Law so that it is now written in our hearts by the power of the Spirit, but we still have to study God's Word.Since I have 6 cats, I always like to use the cat example. The Law says, if you are a cat, you will scratch like one, meow like one, and catch mice like one. So, here comes a bunch of people trying to act like cats to show they are cats. No, it does not work, and the description merely shown us we are not cats.Now..... suddenly we are changed into cats. Guess what? We meow like cats, scratch like cats, and catch mice like cats. The standard is the same..... but the nature of the beast so-to-speak has changed to accommodate the description, which is still the same.

The best answer would be to say that as you spend time in prayer, the Holy Spirit can direct your life. Remember, God speaks through his Word. So stay in the Word, and be a doer of it, and you'll find out exactly what God's perfect will concerning your life is. And another point to know, is that we aren't under the law, but we do fulfill the law. God Bless!

There is no unanswerable question

There are certain basics which all Christians know are in line with God's will and God's word (like not breaking the 10 commandments, love neighbor, love God). Then I believe there are specific things unique to you that the Holy Spirit will prompt you to do. The Judges shows how God stirred up various people like Gideon, Sampson etc. to do specific things. Likewise, God stirs Christians up to do things IMO.
