Hebrew is a fascinating language with so many deeper and hidden things of God it never fails to amaze me how God uses names, numbers, types, symbolism to continue his teaching through the word for no matter what level of learning you are at. The teaching never ceases. The meaning of names alone in scripture will paint a picture this is why God at time changed people's names to teach us a deeper truth.Hidden Prophecy in Adams' Genealogy The apostle Paul writes in 2 Tim. 3:16 that all All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness. When reading through the Holy Scriptures, one will often encounter long geneologies. One may think, how can this have any spiritual significance? Why do we have family history recorded in the Scriptures? Many may read through these passages and pass them off as merely a historical account of certain families, but a deeper study into the meaning of the Hebrew names foreshadows the providence of HaShem (God) and His divine plan. The geneology of Adam in Genesis chapter five shows that from the beginning, it was God's plan to send the Messiah into the world to redeem mankind from death. How can a geneology be prophetic? The answer lies in the meaning of the Hebrew names of Adam's descendants. Using the Hebrew meanings, one will see a hidden prophecy of God's plan. Genesis 5:1-11 outline the beginning of man's downfall.1 This is the written account of Adam's line. When God created man, he made him in the likeness of God. 2 He created them male and female and blessed them. And when they were created, he called them "man." 3 When Adam had lived 130 years, he had a son in his own likeness, in his own image; and he named him Seth. 4 After Seth was born, Adam lived 800 years and had other sons and daughters. 5 Altogether, Adam lived 930 years, and then he died. 6 When Seth had lived 105 years, he became the father of Enosh. 7 And after he became the father of Enosh, Seth lived 807 years and had other sons and daughters. 8 Altogether, Seth lived 912 years, and then he died. 9 When Enosh had lived 90 years, he became the father of Kenan. 10 And after he became the father of Kenan, Enosh lived 815 years and had other sons and daughters. 11 Altogether, Enosh lived 905 years, and then he diedAdam is the Hebrew word for man . Seth means appointed, for at his birth Adam declared that God had appointed another seed for him in place of Abel since Cain killed him (Gen 4:25). Enosh is the Hebrew word for mortal. Kenan means sorrow. If one places the names in order according to their respective meanings, it forms this phrase: Man appointed mortal sorrow. This recalls to mind the fact that man fell because of sin and that he is full of sorrow because the punishment for sin is death. The second phrase is found in verses 12-17 and shows the beginning of the solution to man's problem with sin and death. 12 When Kenan had lived 70 years, he became the father of Mahalalel. 13 And after he became the father of Mahalalel, Kenan lived 840 years and had other sons and daughters. 14 Altogether, Kenan lived 910 years, and then he died. 15 When Mahalalel had lived 65 years, he became the father of Jared. 16 And after he became the father of Jared, Mahalalel lived 830 years and had other sons and daughters. 17 Altogether, Mahalalel lived 895 years, and then he died. Mahalael comes from the Hebrew root mahalal which means to be praised, praiseworthy or blessed. The Hebrew word for God is El. So the meaning of Mahalalel means, the Praiseworthy God, or the Blessed God. Jared means to come down, or to descend. These two names form the phrase: The Blessed God shall come down.According to the John 1:14, the Messiah who is God, became flesh and came down from his heavenly abode to dwell among men. In the last section, verses 18-29 show how the Messiah will bring man back into relationship with God. 18 When Jared had lived 162 years, he became the father of Enoch. 19 And after he became the father of Enoch, Jared lived 800 years and had other sons and daughters. 20 Altogether, Jared lived 962 years, and then he died. 21 When Enoch had lived 65 years, he became the father of Methuselah. 22 And after he became the father of Methuselah, Enoch walked with God 300 years and had other sons and daughters. 23 Altogether, Enoch lived 365 years. 24 Enoch walked with God; then he was no more, because God took him away. 25 When Methuselah had lived 187 years, he became the father of Lamech. 26 And after he became the father of Lamech, Methuselah lived 782 years and had other sons and daughters. 27 Altogether, Methuselah lived 969 years, and then he died. 28 When Lamech had lived 182 years, he had a son. 29 He named him Noah and said, "He will comfort us in the labor and painful toil of our hands caused by the ground the Lord has cursed." Enoch is the Hebrew word for teaching or training, both morally or religiously It is also related to the word chanuk, which means to dedicate. Methuselah is a combination of two Hebrew words. The Hebrew word mot, means death. The Hebrew word shelach means to send something or bring something to someone. Putting the two words together mot + shelach = (Methuselah) it means: Death shall bring. Lamech is also a compound Hebrew word. The Hebrew syllable le- is the English preposition to. The Hebrew word muk, means poor, desperate or despairing. Le + Muk =(Lamech) means: to the despairing. Noah is the Hebrew word for comfort. Thus, the last phrase is : Teaching that death shall bring to the despairing comfort.Putting all the meanings of the names together, here is the complete thought. Words in parenthesis are added to help clairify sentence structure in English.Man (was) appointed mortal sorrow. (The) blessed God (shall) come down teaching (that His) death shall bring (the) despairing comfort. This statement is prophetic of the Messiah and His work, and also shows that He was appointed to die in order to restore the desperate condition of mankind to perfect peace with God. This restorative work brings comfort in that man no longer has to fear death, for eternal life is in the Messiah. It is amazing how Yahweh has placed this eternal truth of the Messiah right in the midst of Adam's geneology. Proverbs 25:2 states, it is the glory of God to conceal a matter; to search out a matter is the glory of kings. This "hidden" prophecy falls in line with the Rev. 13:8 which states that the Lamb was slain from the foundation of the world. It was all part of God's plan from the beginning to send his Son, Yeshua the Messiah to die as a sacrifice for man's sins and to restore man back into a relationship. Looking into the Hebrew language is a beautiful way to to take one's study to a deeper level. The truths that God reveals in Scripture through the language are very inspiring and confirm that His word is living. Let us pray for more understanding of God's Holy Scriptures and His secrets. In Jer. 33:3, the Lord beckons, Call to Me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know. Lord, show us the hidden treasures in the depths of your living Word.

Yes I know the geneology Im looking at Gen 5:26 Methuselah lived 782 years after Lamech was born/ Then Lamech was 182 when Noah was born so subtract182 from 782 you get 600 so Methuselah lived another 600 years from the time Noah was born and the flood happened sometime into Noahs 600th year of age. If my math is right
