Woe to Esau

Obadiah 1:15-21
15 For the day of the LORD is near upon all the heathen: as thou hast done, it shall be done unto thee: thy reward shall return upon thine own head.
16 For as ye have drunk upon my holy mountain, so shall all the heathen drink continually, yea, they shall drink, and they shall swallow down, and they shall be as though they had not been.
17 But upon mount Zion shall be deliverance, and there shall be holiness; and the house of Jacob shall possess their possessions.

18And the house of Jacob shall be a fire, and the house of Joseph a flame, and the house of Esau for stubble, and they shall kindle in them, and devour them; and there shall not be any remaining of the house of Esau; for the LORD hath spoken it.

19 And they of the south shall possess the mount of Esau; and they of the plain the Philistines(((Gaza Strip))): and they shall possess the fields of Ephraim, and the fields of Samaria(((west Bank))): and Benjamin shall possess Gilead.
20 And the captivity of this host of the children of Israel shall possess that of the Canaanites, even unto Zarephath; and the captivity of Jerusalem, which is in Sepharad, shall possess the cities of the south.
21 And saviours shall come up on mount Zion to judge the mount of Esau; and the kingdom shall be the LORD's.

The real war is not against flesh and blood, but against the carnal man verses the spiritual man. It just so happens that those who are supposed to be spiritual in Christ are fighting shoulder to shoulder with the carnal soldiers thinking they are doing a service to God. Yet they are fighting even against their own BRETHREN IN CHRIST who are on the other side of a carnal war.

Esau-Edom-Red as in Blood or carnal man that is enmity towards God who for one bowl of food for his belly(fleshly desires) SOLD his birthright NOT STOLE, as THE FIRST BORN SON. Yet when it came time to make good on his oath to give it to Jacob.. their mother(representing heavenly Jerusalem) had to disguise the younger son as the FIRSTBORN Son that was of THE PROMISE(oath).
For Rebekah knowing the deeds of the carnal nature not being good to their word, knew that Esau who was not a godly man, would go back on his word come time for the oath made to his brother Jacob to GIVE him his birthright of Blessing, so she took matters into her own hands as God had already DECLARED to her that Jacob would rule over the elder son, so it was God's will.
Rom 9:8
8 That is, They which are the children of the flesh, these are not the children of God: but the children of the promise are counted for the seed.
KJV
It is not the children of the flesh and blood who are the heirs.. it is those whom are of the promise who receive the blessing having been reborn by the Spirit from above by our mother heavenly Jerusalem in the IMAGE OF THE FIRST BORN that will be called Israel/Jacob.

Jacob I loved says God for Jacob was willing to wrestle all night long with THE WORD in order to receive the blessing and did exactly as his mother told him to be transformed into the image of the Firstborn.
But Esau I hated says God, for his god was his belly for he represents the carnal man and his lusts that he puts first place in his life.
Gen 25:30
30 And Esau said to Jacob, Feed me, I pray thee, with that same red pottage; for I am faint: therefore was his name called Edom.
KJV

Gen 25:25
25 And the first came out red(Carnal blood thirsty man), all over like an hairy(Animal nature) garment(Skin, tent, body, covering); and they called his name Esau.
KJV
Gen 25:27
27 And the boys grew: and Esau was a cunning hunter, a man of the field; and Jacob was a plain man, dwelling in tents.
KJV
Gen 25:31-34
31 And Jacob said, Sell me this day thy birthright.
32 And Esau said, Behold, I am at the point to die: and what profit shall this birthright do to me? {NO FAITH IN GOD)
33 And Jacob said, Swear to me this day; and he sware unto him: and he sold his birthright unto Jacob.
34 Then Jacob gave Esau bread and pottage of lentiles; and he did eat and drink, and rose up, and went his way: thus Esau despised his birthright.
KJV

But the signs are going to be in the natural.... yet we are to know and understand the difference between our carnal nature and our spiritual nature in Christ's, duties.

Eph 6:12
12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
KJV

Edom is a place. Esau was Jacob's brother. The children of Esau that lived in Edom, hurt the Jews when the Babylonians took Jerusalem Obadiah 1:10-14 so they will be judged by fire from Israel during the last day of the Lord.

I understand that they were both of the same mother YET! not of the same mother as Esau represents the natural land(carnal man) Jerusalem and Jacob is of the spiritual land heavenly Jerusalem who is our mother if you are in Christ(born again of the Spirit) being disguised as (In the image) the Firstborn in the EYES of the Father.
And I understand that just as Ishmael(carnal man,Egypt) and Isaac (of the promise, Spirit)were of the same father, they were not of the same Father by the Spirit, but when you put on your spiritual eyes you should see the allegory, just as Abel was not of the same father as Cain who is the spiritual seed of the serpent displaying his image even though their natural mother and father were the same, they are not spiritually of the same parents.

Esau is of the scapegoat-twin typology:

Genesis 27:6-11 KJV
6. Rebekah said to her son Jacob, "I heard your father speak to your brother Esau,
7. 'Bring me game, and prepare for me savory food, that I may eat it, and bless you before the Lord before I die.'

9. Go to the flock, and fetch me two good kids, that I may prepare from them savory food for your father, such as he loves;
10. and you shall bring it to your father to eat, so that he may bless you before he dies."
11. But Jacob said to Rebekah his mother, "Behold, my brother Esau is a hairy

I do not mean signs as miracles, but the signs of the birth pains that we see as in acts of God floods, tornados, hurricanes, wars, and when God gathers ALL the armies of the nations around Israel.

Isa 34:1-5
34:1 Come near, ye nations, to hear; and hearken, ye people: let the earth hear, and all that is therein; the world, and all things that come forth of it.
2 For the indignation of the LORD is upon all nations, and his fury upon all their armies: he hath utterly destroyed them, he hath delivered them to the slaughter.
3 Their slain also shall be cast out, and their stink shall come up out of their carcases, and the mountains shall be melted with their blood.
4 And all the host of heaven shall be dissolved, and the heavens shall be rolled together as a scroll: and all their host shall fall down, as the leaf falleth off from the vine, and as a falling fig from the fig tree.
5 For my sword shall be bathed in heaven: behold, it shall come down upon Idumea, and upon the people of my curse, to judgment.
KJV
Zech 14:1-5
14:1 Behold, the day of the LORD cometh, and thy spoil shall be divided in the midst of thee.
2 For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, and the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the city.
3 Then shall the LORD go forth, and fight against those nations, as when he fought in the day of battle.
4 And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south.
5 And ye shall flee to the valley of the mountains; for the valley of the mountains shall reach unto Azal: yea, ye shall flee, like as ye fled from before the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah: and the LORD my God shall come, and all the saints with thee.
KJV

Just as it is believed we are awaiting for the natural Jews to build the temple.. when in reality the temple without hands is the one Christ comes for and is already being built and close to completion. The ungodly world has all eyes on the natural things but it is the spiritual happenings that is important but the signs of the seasons are from God.

Those being deceived are those who believe it is nations against nations that they are fighting as they stand shoulder to shoulder with the enemies of Christ as well as others who call themselves brothers in Christ, but they have failed to see that it is really ALL carnal men verses those led of the Spirit who are going to be coming with Christ but UP out of the way looking down at the action of one another turning on their own people.

Matt 24:5-14
5 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.
6 And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.
7 For nation shall rise against (THEIR OWN) nation, and kingdom(FALLEN AWAY BRETHREN) against (CHRIST'S TRUE FOLLOWERS)kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.
8 All these are the beginning of sorrows.
9 Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake.
10 And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.
11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.
12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.
13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.
14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.

afaithfulone4u explained the following.
Matthew 24:7
7 For nation shall rise against (THEIR OWN) nation, and kingdom(FALLEN AWAY BRETHREN) against (CHRIST'S TRUE FOLLOWERS)kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.

If you spiritualize prophecy, you will never understand it.

"nation shall rise against nation" simply means ethnic groupe against ethnic groupe such as black against white or Muslim against Christian. We are seeing this happaning today.

"kingdom against kingdom" is what it says, country against country.

Actually that is not what the passage literally states:

Matthew 24:7 TUA
7. Egerthesetaigar ethnos epi ethnos kai basileia epi basileian kaiesontai limoi {*} kai seismoi kata topous.

Original Strong's Ref. #1909
Romanized epi
Pronounced ep-ee'
a primary preposition; properly, meaning superimposition (of time, place, order, etc.), as a relation of distribution [with the genitive case], i.e. over, upon, etc.; of rest (with the det.) at, on, etc.; of direction (with the accusative case) towards, upon, etc.:
KJV--about (the times), above, after, against, among, as long as (touching), at, beside, X have charge of, (be-, [where-])fore, in (a place, as much as, the time of, -to), (because) of, (up-)on (behalf of), over, (by, for) the space of, through(-out), (un-)to(-ward), with. In compounds it retains essentially the same import, at, upon, etc. (literally or figuratively).

Perhaps you may need to dig a little deeper into the Nebuchadnezzar dream-vision of Daniel 2 if you will understand why Matthew 24:7 is phrased the way it is. There are four dominions to the man and three of them rise up from beneath-below-within the man ultimately gaining the dominion over-upon-against him in the End, (the man is the soul which is "the head of gold" dwelling within his own earth-soil-land). When the first great horn of the sa`iyr-goat Yavan is broken the dominion-kingdom-realm of the man is "divided to the four winds of heaven" like the four Tetrarchies of the kingdom of Herod. The metals of the Nebuchadnezzar dream are the same metals that Solomon used in the building of the first Temple, including the man, for man is "the Potters' clay" according to other prophets from before Daniel:

2 Chronicles 2:4-7 KJV
4. Behold, I build an house to the name of the Lord my God, to dedicate it to him, and to burn before him sweet incense, and for the continual shewbread, and for the burnt offerings morning and evening, on the sabbaths, and on the new moons, and on the solemn feasts of the Lord our God. This is an ordinance for ever to Israel.
5. And the house which I build is great: for great is our God above all gods.
6. But who is able to build him an house, seeing the heaven and heaven of heavens cannot contain him? who am I then, that I should build him an house, save only to burn sacrifice before him?
7. Send me now therefore
a man [the Potters' clay] cunning to work in gold, and in silver, and in brass, and in iron, and in purple, and crimson, and blue, and that can skill to grave with the cunning men that are with me in Judah and in Jerusalem, whom David my father did provide.

Do you suppose this same list of metals is just a coincidence?

Daniel 2:31-35 KJV
31. Thou, O king, sawest, and behold a great image. This great image, whose brightness was excellent, stood before thee; and the form thereof was terrible.
32. This image's head was of fine gold, his breast and his arms of silver, his belly and his thighs of brass,
33. His legs of iron, his feet part of iron and part of clay.
34. Thou sawest till that a stone was cut out without hands, which smote the image upon his feet that were of iron and clay, and brake them to pieces.
35. Then was the
iron, the clay, the brass, the silver, and the gold, broken to pieces together, and became like the chaff of the summer threshingfloors; and the wind carried them away, that no place was found for them: and the stone that smote the image became a great mountain, and filled the whole earth.

Daniel 2:41 KJV
41. And whereas thou sawest the feet and toes, part of potters' clay, and part of iron, the kingdom shall be divided; but there shall be in it of the strength of the iron, forasmuch as thou sawest the iron mixed with miry clay.

Is the following image an attempt to "spiritualize prophecy" just because it does not confirm your own "world empires" theory?

nebuchadnezzar-statue.jpg

Or is it in fact what the dream-vision of Nebuchadnezzar reveals concerning every man who would be king?

Daniel 2:36-38 KJV
36. This is the dream; and we will tell the interpretation thereof before the king.
37. Thou, O king, art a king of kings: for the God of heaven hath given thee a kingdom, power, and strength, and glory.
38. And wheresoever the children of men dwell, the beasts of the field and the fowls of the heaven hath he given into thine hand, and hath made thee ruler over them All. Thou art this head of gold.

Thou, O king, art this head of gold . . .

The images are God's word pictures for us.
Yes, and he uses empires to describe the make up of the dominions of a man. In Daniel 2:39 the Aramaic word translated "inferior" (KJV) literally means "earth" and is therefore rendered more appropriately as "lower" (interior) as shown below in the LIT Bible:

Daniel 2:39 LIT (Literal Bible with Vertical Strong's Ref. #'s)
39.
|0870| And in your place
|6966| will arise
|4437| kingdom
|0317| another,
|0772| lower
|4481| than yours, [min-ak-"from you"]
|4437| and kingdom
|8523| third
|0317| another
|1768| {made} of
|5174| bronze,
|1768| which
|7981| will rule
|3606| in all
|0772| the earth.

Original Strong's Ref. #772
Romanized 'ara`
Pronounced ar-ah'
(Aramaic) corresponding to HSN0776; the earth; by implication (figuratively) low:
KJV--earth, interior.

Daniel 2:39a ~ "To your spot shall rise another dominion from your earth-lower-interior..."

Below the head of gold which is the man, (and the heart is the "head") we find the dominion of the chest and arms of silver, (a bear) and below that dominion we find the belly and thighs of brass, (a leopard) and finally below that are the legs of iron and the feet of iron mixed with clay. Each successive metal is less valuable and yet each successive metal is progressively harder, like the hardening of the heart of a Pharaoh over time, until finally the entire dominion of the man becomes so hard that it may easily be shattered, (like the iron mixed with clay in the feet which are the weakest point struck by the Stone). These are the four progressive "dominions" of the man, (like the four "tetrachies" of Herod and like four "generations" or the four seasons in a full years turning) and in the end a little horn, (the littlest "member" of the man) will rise up to consolidate the four tetrachies of the kingdom of the man; and "Who shall live when 'El doeth this?" And who then does the idolatrous image represent in the next chapter of Daniel which follows? The great image which Nebuchadnezzar then makes is entirely of gold and thus represents himself; for Daniel had just informed him that he himself was "the head of gold" in his dream-vision. Nebuchadnezzar then makes the same image which he saw in the dream but makes it all of gold representing himself: sixty cubits in height, six cubits width, with six instruments of false worship music. Then the king forces all the world to bow down and worship the golden image of himself. Now look at what happens in the fourth chapter of Daniel which describes the EXORCISM of Nebuchadnezzar:

Daniel 4:13-28 KJV
13. I saw in the visions of my head upon my bed, and, behold, a watcher and an holy one came down from heaven;
14. He cried aloud, and said thus, Hew down the tree, and cut off his branches, shake off his leaves, and scatter his fruit: let the beasts get away from under it, and the fowls from his branches:
15. Nevertheless leave the stump of his roots in the earth, even with a band of iron and brass, in the tender grass of the field; and let it be wet with the dew of heaven, and let his portion be with the beasts in the grass of the earth:
16. Let his heart be changed from man's, and let a beast's heart be given unto him; and let seven times pass over him.
17. This matter is by the decree of the watchers, and the demand by the word of the holy ones: to the intent that the living may know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will, and setteth up over it the basest of men.
18. This dream I king Nebuchadnezzar have seen. Now thou, O Belteshazzar, declare the interpretation thereof, forasmuch as all the wise men of my kingdom are not able to make known unto me the interpretation: but thou art able; for the spirit of the holy gods is in thee.
19. Then Daniel, whose name was Belteshazzar, was astonied for one hour, and his thoughts troubled him. The king spake, and said, Belteshazzar, let not the dream, or the interpretation thereof, trouble thee. Belteshazzar answered and said, My lord, the dream be to them that hate thee, and the interpretation thereof to thine enemies.
20. The tree that thou sawest, which grew, and was strong, whose height reached unto the heaven, and the sight thereof to all the earth;
21. Whose leaves were fair, and the fruit thereof much, and in it was meat for all; under which the beasts of the field dwelt, and upon whose branches the fowls of the heaven had their habitation:
22. It is thou, O king, that art grown and become strong: for thy greatness is grown, and reacheth unto heaven, and thy dominion to the end of the earth.
23. And whereas the king saw a watcher and an holy one coming down from heaven, and saying, Hew the tree down, and destroy it; yet leave the stump of the roots thereof in the earth, even with a band of iron and brass,
in the tender grass of the field; and let it be wet with the dew of heaven, and let his portion be with the beasts of the field, till seven times pass over him;
24. This is the interpretation, O king, and this is the decree of the most High, which is come upon my lord the king:
25. That they shall drive thee from men, and thy dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field,
and they shall make thee to eat grass as oxen, and they shall wet thee with the dew of heaven, and seven times shall pass over thee, till thou know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will.
26. And whereas they commanded to leave the stump of the tree roots; thy kingdom shall be sure unto thee, after that thou shalt have known that the heavens do rule.
27. Wherefore, O king, let my counsel be acceptable unto thee, and break off thy sins by righteousness, and thine iniquities by shewing mercy to the poor; if it may be a lengthening of thy tranquillity.
28. All this came upon the king Nebuchadnezzar.

Genesis 27:38-39 KJV
38. And Esau said unto his father, Hast thou but one blessing, my father? bless me, even me also, O my father. And Esau lifted up his voice, and wept.
39. And Isaac his father answered and said unto him,
Behold, thy dwelling shall be the fatness of the earth, and of the dew of heaven from above;

The spirit of Esau, (like tares growing up among the wheat) had gained the dominion over Nebuchadnezzar because of his pride.

Romans 9:13-24 KJV
13. As it is written, Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated.
14. What shall we say then? Is there unrighteousness with God? God forbid.
15. For he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.
16. So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy.
17. For the scripture saith unto Pharaoh, Even for this same purpose have I raised thee up, that I might shew my power in thee, and that my name might be declared throughout all the earth.
18. Therefore hath he mercy on whom he will have mercy, and whom he will he hardeneth.
19. Thou wilt say then unto me, Why doth he yet find fault? For who hath resisted his will?
20. Nay but, O man, who art thou that repliest against God? Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it, Why hast thou made me thus?
21. Hath not the potter power over the clay,
of the same lump to make one vessel unto honour, and another unto dishonour?
22. What if God, willing to shew his wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath fitted to destruction:
23. And that he might make known the riches of his glory on the vessels of mercy, which he had afore prepared unto glory,
24. Even us, whom he hath called, not of the Jews only, but also of the Gentiles?

Is there unrighteousness with God? God forbid! Therefore the Maker does not simply make one individual man for destruction and another individual man for an election into life; rather, every man has both within himself and the first is likened to a son of perdition. Who is of a greater stature than Pharaoh and Moses the Lawgiver? Yet Moses separated himself from Pharaoh and chose the family of God over sin for a season in Egypt. Who among us will fancy himself more significant than Ishmael and Isaac the fulfillment of the Promise of the Seed? And who shall not fulfill in himself or herself the very same typology foretold in the twins of Esau the "hairy" and Jacob his brother, the father of all Israel, whose name was changed to Israel? And who shall imagine himself more powerful and important than was Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon and all the world; who likewise underwent his own exorcisim, giving up his own shaggy-goat Esau when the fullness of his pride had put forth his foliage? Sin lieth at the door, and unto thee is his desire, and thou shalt rule over him. God is no resepter of the persons of men, and he is the Potter, and we are the clay. Shall the one same lump of clay say to the Potter; "Why did you make of me two vessels?" (there is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body; 1 Corinthians 15:44 KJV). It simply is what it is, and every one shall give up his own shaggy sa`iyr-goat Esau, that "old man" nature and spirit of the world, or the same has no part in Messiah.

The half of you that is killing you is the half that God hates: WOE TO ESAU! :)

Blessed be Egypt My People, and Blessed is Assyria the work of my hands, and blessed is Israel, mine inheritance.

The 3 shall be one in the land as a single man.

Israel is two kingdoms with a city in between and this city was built in Benjamin because Benjamin is a part of both kingdoms.

David built in Benjamin, the city between the two kingdoms and it united the two brothers briefly.

I think Esau and Jacob are twin brothers who struggle within the same womb, that the flesh struggles against the spirit.

I believe all the stories just show, ''3''

That the sons of Adam stood for Body, soul, and spirit.

That Abraham, Nahor, and Haran stood for Body, soul, and spirit.

That the 3 sons of Noah said the same.
That the struggle between Esau and Jacob brings about a new man named ,'' Israel''

But the 3 only represent what this being is.

Just as the 3 main feast, just as the 3 sections of the Temple.

3 in the transfiguration , and 3 looking at it,
3 hanging on 3 crosses showing Body, soul, and spirit.

If you want to make a man, you must have 3 names.

Esau will be stubble because the desires of the flesh will one day be taken away, but I believe that Esau also represents that third part of heaven that always falls.

That many people who believe in God will be considered, Esau'' because they watched what happened to Jacob and did nothing.

Twin brothers.

Sorry, but that is just TOO much allegorizing. It might be time for you to look up the concept of a non sequitur and review the techniques of logic development. You're making a "connection" that the text does not support.

I understand that it looks crazy to most people, already know that.

But with me it's a language.

Everything is simply,'' 3''

Okay, but what about all the other numbers?

One, the number of God.
Two, the number of witness.
Four, the number of the earth. Four seasons, four compass directions, 12 (4x3) months in a year, ...
Five, the number of grace.
Six, the number of man.
Seven, the number of completion.
Eight, the number of new beginnings.
....

Gematria has LOTS of meaning in LOTS of numbers! One should not be bogged down on one number. And, frankly, one shouldn't be bogged down on any numbers! There's much more to find in the Scriptures than some feeble linkage between numbers. Gematria, like ANY superstition, mysticism, or occult practice, is a DISTRACTION.

Unless GOD makes the connection and purposely reveals the link, there's no sense manufacturing one. That's my opinion.

Mankind is not abound numbers.

Mankind is about body, soul, and spirit.

If you write a book that repeats stories over and over, the same design is there.

The bible is written about these things.

The Bible does talk about these things, but not exclusively. If you truly want to know about "body, soul, and spirit," you would do better to look up every occurrence of those words in the original languages and piece it together that way, rather than to use this kind of nonsense.

I'll even give you a little help getting started:

Using Strong's Concordance keyed to its dictionaries of Hebrew and Greek in the back, here are the entries for "soul":

There are 458 references using the word "soul" in the KJV. Of these 458, the last 39 are the from the Greek word "psuchee": However, these are just the entries that use that ENGLISH word "soul." I won't bother to list the verses, yet. Let's look for the original languages first.

(By the way, for the Greek, I will use the "e" for the letter epsilon in transliteration, the "ee" for eta, the "o" for omicron, and the "oo" for omega. If there is a Greek letter phi, I will use an "f" instead of a "ph" for brevity.

In Hebrew transliteration, I may use a dash or nothing at all for the Hebrew vowel point "sheva"; an "aa" for a "qamets," an "a" for a "patach," an "e" for a "segol," an "ee" for a "tsere," an "i" for a "chireq," an "o" for a "cholem," and a "u" for a "qibbuts." If a "yod" follows, a "y" will be added. If a "vav" follows a is under a "cholem," I will add a "w" making it "ow," pronounced as "o" in "rainbow," NEVER as "ow" in "cow!" If a "vav" is used with a middle dot to make a "shureq," I will write it as "uw," pronounced as "oo" in "moon," like the "qibbuts."

The "alef" (or some write "aleph") I will write as an apostrophe, ', except at the beginning of words. It is often considered a "silent letter" but it HAS a sound, the slightly explosive sound at the beginning of words like "egg" or "umbrella."

The "`ayin" I will write as a back-apostrophe, `. It, too, is considered a "silent letter" by Westerners, but it, too, has a sound. It is like a "swallowed, hard g." In fact, it is for this reason that "Gaza" was used for the early transliteration of its Hebrew word, even though it begins with an "`ayin."

NT:5590 psuchee (psoo-khay'); from NT:5594; breath, i.e. (by implication) spirit, abstractly or concretely (the animal sentient principle only; thus distinguished on the one hand from NT:4151, which is the rational and immortal soul; and on the other from NT:2222, which is mere vitality, even of plants: these terms thus exactly correspond respectively to the Hebrew OT:5315, OT:7307 and OT:2416):
KJV - heart (+-ily), life, mind, soul, + us, + you.

(Biblesoft's New Exhaustive Strong's Numbers and Concordance with Expanded Greek-Hebrew Dictionary. Copyright © 1994, 2003, 2006 Biblesoft, Inc. and International Bible Translators, Inc.)

The phrase "(by implication) spirit" means that the word meaning "breath" is used in some instances to IMPLY "spirit," although that's not its primary meaning.

Here are the entries to which this definition refers:

NT:5594 psuchoo (psoo'-kho); a primary verb; to breathe (voluntarily but gently, thus differing on the one hand from NT:4154, which denotes properly a forcible respiration; and on the other from the base of NT:109, which refers properly to an inanimate breeze), i.e. (by implication of reduction of temperature by evaporation) to chill (figuratively):
KJV - wax cold.

NT:4151 pneuma (pnyoo'-mah); from NT:4154; a current of air, i.e. breath (blast) or a breeze; by analogy or figuratively, a spirit, i.e. (human) the rational soul, (by implication) vital principle, mental disposition, etc., or (superhuman) an angel, demon, or (divine) God, Christ's spirit, the Holy Spirit:
KJV - ghost, life, spirit (-ual, -ually), mind. Compare NT:5590.

NT:2222 zooee (dzo-ay'); from NT:2198; life (literally or figuratively):
KJV - life (-time). Compare NT:5590.

OT:5315 nefesh (neh'-fesh); from OT:5314; properly, a breathing creature, i.e. animal of (abstractly) vitality; used very widely in a literal, accommodated or figurative sense (bodily or mental):
KJV - any, appetite, beast, body, breath, creature, X dead (-ly), desire, X [dis-] contented, X fish, ghost, + greedy, he, heart (-y), (hath, X jeopardy of) life (X in jeopardy), lust, man, me, mind, mortally, one, own, person, pleasure, (her-, him-, my-, thyself-), them (your)- selves, + slay, soul, + tablet, they, thing, (X she) will, X would have it.

OT:7307 ruwach (roo'-akh); from OT:7306; wind; by resemblance breath, i.e. a sensible (or even violent) exhalation; figuratively, life, anger, unsubstantiality; by extension, a region of the sky; by resemblance spirit, but only of a rational being (including its expression and functions):
KJV - air, anger, blast, breath, X cool, courage, mind, X quarter, X side, spirit ([-ual]), tempest, X vain, ([whirl-]) wind (-y).

OT:2416 chay (khah'-ee); from OT:2421; alive; hence, raw (flesh); fresh (plant, water, year), strong; also (as noun, especially in the feminine singular and masculine plural) life (or living thing), whether literally or figuratively:
KJV - + age, alive, appetite, (wild) beast, company, congregation, life (-time), live (-ly), living (creature, thing), maintenance, + merry, multitude, + (be) old, quick, raw, running, springing, troop.

(Biblesoft's New Exhaustive Strong's Numbers and Concordance with Expanded Greek-Hebrew Dictionary. Copyright © 1994, 2003, 2006 Biblesoft, Inc. and International Bible Translators, Inc.)

Nefesh, by the way, is the word used for the OTHER 416 references using "soul" above. Two added the word "soul" to the English text (2 Samuel 13:39; Psalm 16:2) and one used "my soul" instead of "my reputation" to translate "ndiVaatiy" (Job 30:15)

Here are the additional referenced words from THESE definitions:

NT:4154 pneoo (pneh'-o); a primary word; to breathe hard, i.e. breeze:
KJV - blow. Compare NT:5594.

NT:109 aeer (ah-ayr'); from aeemi (to breathe unconsciously, i.e. respire; by analogy, to blow); "air" (as naturally circumambient):
KJV - air. Compare NT:5594.

NT:2198 zaoo (dzah'-o); a primary verb; to live (literally or figuratively):
KJV - life (-time), (a-) live (-ly), quick.

OT:5314 naafash (naw-fash'); a primitive root; to breathe; passively, to be breathed upon, i.e. (figuratively) refreshed (as if by a current of air):
KJV - (be) refresh selves (-ed).

OT:7306 ruwach (roo'-akh); a primitive root; properly, to blow, i.e. breathe; only (literally) to smell or (by implication, perceive (figuratively, to anticipate, enjoy):
KJV - accept, smell, X touch, make of quick understanding.

OT:2421 chaayaah (khaw-yaw'); a primitive root [compare OT:2331, OT:2421]; to live, whether literally or figuratively; causatively, to revive:
KJV - keep (leave, make) alive, X certainly, give (promise) life, (let, suffer to) live, nourish up, preserve (alive), quicken, recover, repair, restore (to life), revive, (X God) save (alive, life, lives), X surely, be whole.

(Biblesoft's New Exhaustive Strong's Numbers and Concordance with Expanded Greek-Hebrew Dictionary. Copyright © 1994, 2003, 2006 Biblesoft, Inc. and International Bible Translators, Inc.)

I'll stop here, but you can keep going as long as there are reference numbers to trace.

Next, we should do the same thing with the word "spirit":

There are 505 matches for "spirit" in the KJV. Most of these have NT:4151 for the Greek and OT:7307 for the Hebrew: There will always be a few exceptions, but there's frequently a good reason. Sometimes, the mistake in on the makers of the Strong's Concordance. Sometimes, the mistake is that of the translator(s), and sometimes, it's a glitch in the software that I use that makes use of Strong's and the KJV. Sometimes, there are other words that were translated the same as the words we've already found, such as owV in Leviticus 20:27, 1 Samuel 28:7 (twice) and 8, 1 Chronicles 10:13, 2 Chronicles 33:6, and Isaiah 29:4, translated as a "familiar spirit," meaning a "voice in a bottle." We might think of a "genie" or "jinn."

OT:178 'owb (obe); from the same as OT:1 (apparently through the idea of prattling a father's name); properly, a mumble, i.e. a water skin (from its hollow sound); hence a necromancer (ventriloquist, as from a jar):
KJV - bottle, familiar spirit.

(Biblesoft's New Exhaustive Strong's Numbers and Concordance with Expanded Greek-Hebrew Dictionary. Copyright © 1994, 2003, 2006 Biblesoft, Inc. and International Bible Translators, Inc.)

(The word is actually "owV" for the "bet" is really an undotted "vet," and I will frequently use a "V" for a "vet" while using a "v" for a "vav." At the beginning of words, the "bet" is ALWAYS a "B" sound, whether or not the "bet" is dotted. The capital "V" there is always a "vav.")

The only valid addition is OT:7308.

OT:7308 ruwach (Aramaic) (roo'-akh); corresponding to OT:7307:
KJV - mind, spirit, wind.

(Biblesoft's New Exhaustive Strong's Numbers and Concordance with Expanded Greek-Hebrew Dictionary. Copyright © 1994, 2003, 2006 Biblesoft, Inc. and International Bible Translators, Inc.)

This is the Aramaic version of OT:7307. Therefore, despite the confusion of Strong's definitions, the words "psuchee" and "nefesh" are almost always translated as "soul" and "pneuma" and "ruwach" are almost always translated as "spirit."

Now, to get ACCURATE listings of the verses that use these words, we turn to the Englishman's Concordance (also keyed to Strong's numbers):
