Because it makes sense and rings true... Historically, prophetically, scientifically, and archeologically, there's no solid evidence which proves my 2000 year old belief to be false. To the contrary, archeology and prophecy lend substantial credibility to reinforce my faith. I also like the God portrayed and demonstrated in Christ, couldn't ask for a better one.

great question. i believe what i believe because i deeply desire to reconcile the loneliness in my heart, which is caused by humanity's seperation from God through a relationship with Christ and sanctification through the work of the Holy Spirit. there is no other way to love selflessly, as we were created to do.

I would venture a guess that when I realize that I have a new belief, that it was most likely engendered by some process occurring in my subconscious mind due to an exposure to outside stimuli, such as literature, lectures, media, conversation, reflection, experience, etc.

I believe what I believe because it's tangible. At least to me. Because I have the result of my faith.

I've gotten more confirmation for my faith than I would have expected. I'm so grateful to God for revealing to me way more than I deserve, God is good!

This question used to drive me.......it compelled me to reach out to others, which as an introvert is not my first thought. Then I discovered an ugly truth.....most people have no idea why they believe what they believe.....they are fans, pure and simple. The truth of it all crushed me, at first - now, I can accept that people are good works in process and growth - they will get there.

Because I now have knowledge of it. i feel it. I know that God is real and has blessed me in so many ways.
Once you feel that, you can't deny it.

Why do I believe what I believe?
Because I believe in the Bible, especially the gospel.
The gospel is the Word of God, not of human and certainly not of my creation.
All is written about belief in Jesus in John 1:1~14 as you know.

Then Jesus told him, “Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.” - John 20:29

Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. - John 14:6

Since I have been studying the bible (after being converted) I believe what I believe even more. Also I am so sure that the Holy Spirit is working in me and changed my life, because now I am also more aware of all my sins and when I am sinning. Reading the bible and prayer has become a way of life.

I believe what I believe because it matches what The King also believes.

Birds of a feather.

I believe because God called me. I believed Jesus was God from a child on. No reason to believe, but I accepted that, Jesus was God.

Now I know Jesus is God, because he personally told me he is God.

Also Jesus has shown himself to me, and has sat next to me.

Jesus has been personally teaching me about him for the last forty years.

Call me crazy if you want..... But a short while back, I broke down, asking for Christ to carry me and pretty much on the floor... at any rate, I saw, what I believe to be Christ, reaching out His arms for me, right in front of me.... I felt an embrace and I was suddenly at peace. It was a very powerful moment. It's really hard to describe.

Why does any believer believe what they believe? Buddhist, Muslim, Hindu,
Bahá'í, Hare Krishna, Jehovah's Witness, Mormon, Judaism, Voodoo, Wiccan,
Jain, Druze, Native American, etc, etc, etc.

Christians think they have a lock on "belief" when really all they have is a
lock on their own belief; and I'd be willing to bet they are believing in their
own belief for the very same reason that all those other believers are
believing in their own belief-- they like it.

It's a known fact that quite a few of voters do their voting with their gut. In
other words, they settle on a candidate based upon how they feel about him,
and then use their minds to craft a justification for their choice. Take for
instance President Obama. A large block of Americans voted for him solely
on the basis of his color rather than on the basis of his executive ability.
(Ironically Mr. Obama isn't even Black. He's what used to be called Mulatto
but is now called Mixed Race; viz: his father was Black, but his mother was
White. Lucky for him that his skin turned out dark or he may have never
won.)

Anyway, my point is: I've observed that people typically adhere to a religion
not with their mind; but with their feelings: the meanwhile using their minds
to fabricate a justification for their choice. Goes on all the time.

I believe what I believe because God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son so that if I believed in him I would not perish but have everlasting life.

That's a very beautiful answer. I could not have said it better myself.
