I was thinking that. One word that comes to mind is "trial by fire".But, God's been warning our nation many times already; Hurricane Katrina, our failing war, our large debt, flooding, drought, and now these fires.

My friend outside of San Diego, had the fire come close enough to melt his sprinklers. But (thanks be to God) his house was spared. Last night, we had an earthquake 6 miles from our house. No damage (October seems to be a month for earthquakes in my area.)I see the worsening in nature stemming from 2 things. First, we have dominion over the earth & haven't done a good job using it wisely.Secondly, I'm firmly convinced humanity would have destroyed itself before now, Except for the continuing grace & intervention by God. In other words, God has been actively intervening to prevent our destruction.I think we are coming to a place where God will say "Fine, because you don't want Me. You will see what life on earth would be like without my tender mercy correcting your blunders." And the judgement that follows will be just. Because we will reap, as we have sown.

Yes,I believe that too.Even if the devils men committed the act,God lets it happen, which is in itself an act of judgement.Judgement can occur by either God directly intefering or letting a satanic influence take its course

If Cali means California, then fires there are common because of the dry weather. I lived there for 9 months in 1970, and it never rained a drop in that time. We had lots of grass fires--including one near my home. Fortunately, there was a river between the fire and my home.
